I have TYTN with Schaps WM6 ver 3.57a
Has anyone know how to configure the VOIP to support Gizmo project?

Hi, I'm looking for a VOIP client that can run on the Universal, that isn't Skype. It needs to be a standard SIP client. There's loads of these of earlier versions but none mention WM5 compatibility. Has anyone tried anything like the PPC xten client on a Universal?
(In answer to 'why not skype', I work for an ISP that provides a VOIP service over the SIP standard. I get a bunch of free PSTN breakout call minutes. Since I'm in wifi range for 95% of my day, I want to use voip over wifi on a Universal for most of my voice comms)
TIA
Matt S.
have you tried http://www.sjlabs.com/sjp.html
recently updated for 2003 and 2003se but may work for wm5.
No, I don't have a Universal yet, and I don't know anyone with one, or any other WM5 device, unfortunately.
If there's no Universal-compatible SIP softphone, I might not get a Universal at all. But the techno-lust is growing stronger every day, so I'll probably just use skype until Xten or someone else makes their client work on WM5.
For that matter, I might even write one myself - not that I know much about PPC development!... (quick google later)... just discovered that the state of Python for PPC is pretty abysmal. I guess .NET is the way to go. Oh joy.

i am using X-Pro Softphone for Pocket PC on my mda pro (t-mobile universal version), it works perfectly with my german voip-account. you can use four different voip-accounts in this tool! currently i am using the version 3 pro. the only mismatch you will have (as with skype too): it only uses the external speaker instead of the phone speaker. but if you use your headset (you should anyway because of the weight of the universal;-)) it works the way it should!
details are here: http://www.xten.com
any questions left? feel free to ask!
cheers, lutz
Thanks for the info - xten will be perfect!
cheers

i am using the xten, it is good.
Hello
I was wondering if the XDA Exec has a Session Initiation Protocol stack, and if msn mesenger uses the SIP stack?
no, but its doesn't need one. just run a SIP program. There are industrial clients like Persona OnePhone or paid clients like SJphone.
MSN messenger doesn't use SIP.
anyway skype is better ;->
thansk for the reply
i did not quite understand, to run a SIP program one needs to have a SIP stack, correct?
what does MSN messeneger use?
