PPCContactsMgr v1.6

Description: PPCContactsMgr is a plugin for the Outlook contacts. It allows to select multiple contacts at once for deletion. Now it allows also to add phone numbers from calls history and received SMS. And recently, beam several contacts and add several contacts to SIM.

A lot of people asked me if it was possible to beam several contacts at once or add several contacts to the SIM card at once and voila... It's possible now.

Bigix wanted this tool to be translated in italian. So we worked together in order to have the tool translated.
Now everybody can have this tool in its own language thanks to mui resource dlls.
Here in attachment is the french version available.(Bigix will probably provide the italian version)
Both files (PPCContactsMgr.dll and PPCContactsMgr.dll.[LCID].mui) should be put in the \Windows directory.
The mui resource dll is just a resource dll containing all the strings used in the application.
Just use a resource editor (http://www.btinternet.com/~wilsoncpw/xn_resourceeditor_setup.exe) and translate the strings in your language. (See attached text file)
The number in hexadecimal in the mui resource dll filename is the default language id used on the pda.
for italia it is:410
for france it is: 40C
All LCIDs can be found here : http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/win2k/setup/lcid.mspx
If no mui is provided, the default resource strings from PPCContactsMgr.dll are used. (So English)

Shows calls where the sender or number field is empty.

2 menus items have been added to the standard menu and to the contact summary menu. (requested by lvlx)

When you receive a phone call, or an SMS, you probably want to store the sender to the contacts, this is already possible. But often the contact already exists and you want to add a new number. This is what these new functions do.
Version 1.0 -> 1.2:
2 menus items have been added to the standard menu.
- Select All Contacts
- Delete Selected Contacts
If you select multiple contacts with the stylus, you will be capable of deleting them.

ps.: the cab file should be copied on the ppc and installed from there. The PPCContactsMgr.dll (plugin) is installed in the windows directory (/Windows)

ps.: cab file is in zip file, also reg file and dll (if you don't want to use the cab file). Some screenshots can be found in the zip as well.
pps.: if PPCContactsMgr is already installed, in order to upgrade it, poutlook.exe shouldn't run.

If I don't use the CAB File how do I uninstall this?

1) Just use my Task Manager, select the processes tab, look for poutlook.exe, select it and click on terminate. If the process can't be closed, it will be killed.
2) In order to uninstall the plugin
a) "terminate" poutlook.exe
b) delete the PPCContactsMgr.dll located in \Windows
c) in the zip file, there is the reg file for the plugin, so use a reg editor, to remove the keys found in that file.

Great Stuff DotFred!
I use your Taskmanager v2.3 and ContactsManager v1.2 in my Roms, I will update my Roms with this new version of this little app, it's great!
If I want to upgrade it wihout using the CAB, I only need to replace the .dll file and add the new Registry settings to my Rom? Is this correct?

very good idea, it was selly to add the contact as unknown contact then copy the no to the original contact then delete the unkonw caller, thanks i am trying and i will feed you back.

Thanks for the info dotFred will try this one out... it seems worth just to be able to select multiple contacts.

Nice program! The SMS part isn't compatible with the Palm Messaging Program, am I correct?

I don't know, I use CEMAPI to access SMS, so I really don't know what Palm uses, but if CEMAPI is also used under Palm, it should work.

You're right, if one of the fields sender or number is empty, I don't show the call, it will be fixed in next release.
For SMS, only the SMS in the Inbox folder are shown.

Bug fixed?
Frederic - I have had a bug with PPCContactsMgr and I was wondering if it was fixed in this new version. To reproduce the bug, go to Contacts, filter to a contact using the letters on the top of the screen. Now if I choose that contact using the middle select hardware button, or by pushing my Talk hardware button, it actually chooses the first contact in my list. Now if I filter again, it works fine. It's only the first time that it does this. The other related bug is if I hold down on the pad and let it scroll through the letters. When it gets to the letter I want, and I select the contact, it actually selects a different contact.
Does this new version fix this bug? I would test it, but I'm running Molski's AKU 2.3 ROM and I'm not sure if I can update it since the PPCContactsMgr.dll is integrated into the ROM.

Hi Brian,
I don't think this is to do with PPCContactsMgr, the only thing it does is subclassing the outlook window in order to change the style of the contacts listview. I don't do anything else. I tried to reproduce your problem but I can't. I'm running AKU 3.2 (see my signature).
There is something you can try to be sure. Just use this tool to unregister the dll. Do a soft reset and check if you still have problems with the contacts.
Regsvrce /u ppccontactsmgr.dll (to unregister)

Everything works once I disable PPCContactsMgr. I didn't unregister the DLL, but I did remove all the registery entries related to it. This has happened to me with AKU 2.0, 2.2, 2.3, and Faria's 3.2RC1. Removing the reg entries has fixed it everytime for me.
Could it be something in my pim.vol that is messing it up? I could send it to you for testing it you want.

All right, the best thing to do is to ask Faria, if he has the same problems.
I'm really sorry, because I tried several times, exactly what you did, and not a single problem.
I'm sure it is nothing to do with pim.vol, it's just a database. The problem relies in poutlook.exe

You are right, it must be a bug in the contacts app because I just had it happen to me again. I guess I can reinstall PPCContactsMgr! Sorry for the troubles.

I just downloaded UL and i love it, but all the menu's are in German. anyone know of an English version?

do you know where i can get a icon package for this program. extension *.ico

It uses standard windows icons...
You can find *.ico files all over internet for windows, aslong as you use 32x32 and 48x48 for animated icon then its easy.
Tabs must be big enough for icons..

it would be nice to be able to use icon .dll files. currently i have an icons.dll that has a bunch of icons inside that i used for cLaunch. This program will only see the first icon. is there a way to make it use any of the other icons in the file?

Anyone having a problem with it freezing when it starts up? It happens to me when I have a voicemail. The active sync would open and then I can't do anything. I ended up hard reseting my phone to be able to run my phone again. I like this program. I just don't want to keeping hard reseting my phone everytime I get a voicemail and soft reseting before I clear it.

Anyone buy the full version yet? I tried this program and loved it, so I bought it from Handango.com. The registration seemed to work, but at some point I got "not activated" all over the screen. I went back into the configure program, and the registration code went back to all 0's. I've since been flashing a few different rom's (trying to find the best 6.1 for my 8525) so I haven't reloaded it yet. Hopefully it was a freak thing, and it'll work once I reload it.

If your talking about the stock plug ins then they aren't really plug ins. I have yet to find a 3rd party software that hey can be used with.

I guess he wanted to say if it was possible to chose Calendar and Tasks as a tab. I really don't know this isn't possible - it simply doesn't show in the plugins list

I had the same problem when i first installed it, phone freezes then activesync opens and the phone stops to respond, had to hard reset too .
I made sure that all active today plugins are not dsiplayed ( settings,today, uncheck them ) then installed ultimatelauncher, loaded those plugins into seperate ultimatelauncher tabs. been working fine so far, I had no problems ,been two days now .
For the *.ico files, i converted few *.tga icons to *.ico , ultimatelauncher would see them but won't load them .. so i figured it could be the size of the icon, a bit big for ultimatelauncher ( 40 X 40 ) .. will try with smaller icons later .
Edit : tried with ( 16 X 16 ) icons and still ultimatelauncher won't load them

DO NOT install their client for Windows Mobile, it makes the blueangel very unstable
- Added Data_Backup 3.1
- Updated the M2DC config tool to .27
- Google.com opens by default in English
Removed:
- Windows live, I don´t even know what is it good for
- ArcsoftMMS, I have never sent an MMS in my life and don´t intend to start doing that in the near future

I wanted a different default skin but not willing to use one but hold two inside the precious memory
Also I removed the analog clock bmp files in the cab as this skin has no analog clock so they are not needed

PS I Fixed that link and 10 mins later it don't work again always had trouble with that extrom link?
Also It should work just fine with all my BA ROMs

The largefilesasap link should work fine (also very fast to upload) and no waiting time but it expires 72 hours from now
Knowing of the problems you´ve had with rapidshare for ExtRom I have now used megaupload may be it lasts longer over there.
By the way is there any reason why some of the default manila2d graphic files have to be on a folder of their own rather than \Windows ?
Having it all on \Windows would make it much easier to mod the default skin
By the way after installation of my Manila2d ExtROM I have 34Megs of Storage memory free

All the graphics files were originally in the \windows folder but because of the extra hundreds of files in the folder, it was found to slow down windows significantly. Therefore, Xplode moved them to a seperate subdirectory to reduce the file count in \windows and speed up the response time.

Quickmenu problem...

I installed quickmenu on my X1, everything was great, loved it!
Then i had to format the phone, the "clear storage" to be exact.
I have now tried to install 2 versions of quickmenu that i found, they both dont work, when i open the quickmenu icon, there are just little squares instead of font.
Whats even more annoying, is the latest version installed, isnt in the list of "add/remove programes"
Can anyone help?

sounds like something messed up!
try a hard reset (instead of clear storrage)
- turn phone off
- press power button
- immediatly press and hold the to silver hardkeys on the bottom keyspad
this deletes all data on the Phone memory too btw

It was working fine before i did the clear storage, thats the thing.....
I've now installed another version, which has wiped off the old one but doesnt work at all

from what i remember, it's just a case of copying the files across to a directory on your phone and running the exe from there ?

Here we go !
go to the DIR where Quickmenu is installed and change 2 files (the 4-number "countrycode"). This has to be equal to your ROM-Language.
How to :
I use a WWE (English) Rom so my language number is : 0409
Germany would be 0407 and so on.
So rename the files
->> QMenuCfg.dll.XXXX.mui
and
->> QuickMenu.exe.XXXX.mui
to you languagecode, soft reset and you´re fine !

How to restore Program-Tabs

in order to sort the icons in the program tab (pressing the windows symbol under manila) i deleted a few of the icons, eg. 'settings'. now i can not add them anymore since they are not shown if i choose add..
how can this be done?

both answers are wrong.
i found the solution, just install the following cab and the start-program display is set back to standard!

does this cab do anything else but repairing the start-display? I don't want to mess up any other settings of my system which is a 1.40.162.2 (49069) GER Vodafone
