Hi all..
I was wondering if there was a way to add a shortcut to the Kaiser HTC Home Plgin installed on my trinity to turn the WiFi directly on & off without the need of running the comm manager.
Thanks

Well, that's obviously not what I wanted, but thanks.. I already use the hardware buttons.
I tried a couple of different plugins, but found that SPB Phone Suite was the only one that worked for me. It's not a direct button like PhoneAlarm was supposed to be, but a two-step process - you have to tap the communication button on screen and then tap 'turn on wifi'. It's faster than the comm manager tho.
I see.
It's very strange, i never thought a simple action like this could be so complicated
try to use phone weaver! Nice today plugin with small icons....and with one click you can turn wi-fi on/off.
This is what you're after go to http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis for info.

Hi there,
I would know if someone know how to create a shortcut for toggle wifi (activate and desactivate)
Thanks
I've read several threads/posts in these forums and it seems no-one has been able to come up with a way to do it. At the moment, ONLY the comm manager can turn wifi on/off.
pocketAlarm, has a today plugin which toggles wifi from a press of a single button on the Today screen, with some of its newest skins.
However, the feature does not work on all devices, but the list is expanding, so you might want to check it out.
Cheers.
Whats wrong with just clicking on the gprs icon and then turn on wifi ?

That still translate to four taps, not just one.
1. Click GPRS
2. Click Comm Manager
3. Click on WIFI toggle
4. Close Comm Manager (optional)

In my T-Mobile 2.24 Extended Rom there are 2 executables, one to turn Wifi on and one turn Wifi off.
I will look them up for you tomorrow, I will post them in this thread.
Well molski can you upload the two executables please !!!
I will look if is work on my wizard
Here you go Kheops.
I tried both files and they both work perfect on my Wizard.
Thanks a lot mister Molski
have you a toggler?
Damn, those apps do nothing on mine (8125 w/Molski 2.26 ROM).
Sigh.

but there is still a problem that you must turn WIFI on for the first time after reboot, or no link will work, right? that was a problem on 2.3 i know, but the new os maybe got that fixed...
P.
check out vijay's app
Vijay555 has an app called VJVolubilis.exe which does pretty much what your looking for, as well as toggling bluetooth, etc. It has a wifi toggle feature, but unfortunatly doesn't seem to work on Wizards. However, the "wifi on" and "wifi off" work fine. Some people have reported not being able to use the "wifi on" feature after a soft reset until they manually turned on their wifi at least once. This can be fixed with a registry tweak that I'm too lazy to look up right now, however I found it previously on this forum with a search. If I have time I'll look it up and post in the morning (almost bedtime here in the U.S. Eastern Time Zone). The trick to this app is to create a shortcut with command line parameters to either turn on or turn off. I use claunch on my today screen where I have a wifi on, wifi off, blutooth toggle, and "make bluetooth discoverable" icons. These are on my "wireless" tab in claunch. Totally rocks.
Easy with SKSchema
SKSchema comes with a wifitoggle program. Of course it only works if you have skschema installed.
I couldn;t find one that worked the way I wanted, so I ended up using PhoneAlarm.
I used to turn wi-fi on/off by tapping on the "network" indicator(usually a G sometimes U) located at the top if the screen left of the signal stregth and tapping on the Wi-Fi:Off when the little ballon popped open. I installed HTweakC and now instead of W-Fi:Off/On it say's "Wireless Manager" How do I get the On/Off button back under the notification. The same is true when I tap the signal strength icon. Where it used to say "Turn on Flight mode" it now says "wireless manager" How do I get the "Flight mode" option back.
I tried uninstalling HTweakC and to no avial.
Thx
Joe
Been looking all over with no answer.....anybody help me out.
I tried all the settings in HTweakC and even un installed it, and that wireless manager option is still there, so it either is a rom feature or a registry setting.

Two things I'd rather not mess with...guess I need to hard reset and reinstall everything....
I finally did a hard reset and restored everything from scratch. Then I found the correct registry setting right here in the Hermes Wiki in the "Show Network Operator Name in today screen" If you "Enable clicking on the today plugin above open Comm Manager" it also changes the settings for the icons at the top of the screen. Guess you can't have it both ways. I really like turing on WiFi from the top Icons instead of going into the com manager every time. Oh well, least I found where the problem was.
I am hoping, nay, praying, that the above solution works on my newly upgraded Windows Mobile 6 xda. It's the one thing that's driving me round the bend; I hate having to go into the wireless manager every time I want to connect or disconnect wifi.
Many thanks for finding this!!!

Just slide the keyboard open so the bottom row is visible, hold the alt key (the coloured dot at the bottom left corner of the keypad, if you're holding the phone as you would if the keyboard was fully out) and press the OK button - that'll enable/disable the wifi.
I never use the Comm Manager for enabling or disabling wifi when hardware buttons do the job very nicely!
There are a few things keeping me from using mobile shell as my main interface.
First annoying issue is that in the "3-D SMS" section, when you press "reply" it opens up a blank message with no one to send it to. Why wouldn't it automatically add the contact I'm replying to?
Another issue is that the calender widget doesn't show full day appointments even when that option is selected from the menu. Strange...
And any of the text entry widgets, such as the Twitter, Facebook and Google widgets have problems switching from portait to landscape. I'm sure most of us are used to tapping on a text field, sliding open the keyboard and proceeding to type. Well, sliding the keyboard removes the curser from the text field, so you have to tap on it again to start typing.
These issues are very minor, but seem so simple to solve and are therefore annoying. I want to use mobile shell, but touch flo still seems more efficient and "quirk" free.
Does the bluetooth toggle function work? In the previous version, Mobile Shel 3.01, nothing happened when pressing the bluetooth toggle widget.
Unfortunately - it still doesn't. I'm using EnergyROM "Genesis" 9/12.

Yeah didnt work quite right on my sprint tp2 either, so I just maked a "shortcut widget" to the Connection manager in the control panel. It doesnt look as nice, but its just as quick to load and then you get all the options.
Airplane, phone, bluetooth, wifi, direct push, and cellular data that you can turn on or off, or tap settings to change.
IMO its better this way than even working bluetooth/wifi buttons
I need help with this.
accidentally I started a screen for managing bluetooth devices on my HTC hd2. It has 3 tabs and has nice icons. In one tab I could set my device to be discoverable and for how long.
I wrote 'accidentally' because I can not find a way to get back to this screen.
I do not know whether the screen is a Mobile 6.5 screen or HTC Sense, but it is / was very usefull.
Does someone know how to access that screen? (it would help me to start and stop discoverable option quickly).
Thanks
There could be a shorter way to it, I'm not sure, but you can get to it from the settings tab on sense - menu (bottom-right 'soft key') - All Settings - Bluetooth
Or you could go to the Comm Manager (second icon from the top on Sense's settings tab) and tap on the BT icon (not the switch).

On mine, that doesn't go to the screen with the three tabs that the op is asking for.

If you look at my original response, you can get to the screen you want.
It's BTManager.exe that you are after.
You will find it in the Windows directory.
It will only work when BT is on and when it's paired with at least one "unit"
hey hey,
i'm using a sense 2.1 rom (gen.y d2 r5.3 - thanks man, nice work ) and i wonder wether there is a way to map a soft/hardkey to activate/deactivate wi-fi without taking all the way through the comm manager or the wi-fi settings.
would be magnificent since i frequently switch wi-fi on and off and it's kinda annoying the regular way
thanks a lot
Trying to do the same thing, I found this:
Touch X reset and wifi.cab -adds shortcuts for quick reset and WiFi on/off, nice to have on new program tab..

I'm not sure if it will work on sense 2.1, but on sense 2.5, it adds a toggle, with work similary to a application shortcut, appart from that it doesn't launch anything, it just toogles the wifi on and off.
Smabergs list of [Sense 2.5 tweaks & mods] [CABS] contains a lot useful stuff for sense 2.5 (though not all of it works on the diamond), I suspect that some if it might work on the 2.1 too
thanks. I was looking for something similar!
I'd like to ask another thing. Is there a way to make the diamond search for a wifi connection before connecting to the gprs internet? In other words, when a connection is needed it should switch on the wifi radio (if it is off) instead of searching a gprs connection.
Do you think it's possible?
sorry for me taking so long.
well, yeah, thanks man! that was exactly what i was looking for.
To use Hardware buttons for switching wifi on/off I use AEButton plus (use forum search). A very nice pieco of software
I have Wifi on/off on long press volume down and bluetooth on/off on long press volume up.
