I have programmed one of my program keys on my XDA 2s to automatically open the storage card\my documents folder when pressed.
I tried the following two shortcuts:
:msfexplore \storage card\my documents
\windows\fsexplore.exe \storage card\documents
file was named sd docs.lnk
This was tried both on an XDA2s and the HP HX2700 PDA. The shortcut works but it also open Internet Explorer and looks for the folder.
Any ideas how to correct this?
Thanks,
Henny
good day
can someone tell me how to move the cahe folder of opera browser from the phone memory to the card memory i have an hd blackston wm 6.1
thanks
Hi there,
you can try the following (sourced from mobilitysite.com):
Move data and cache around to save memory
By default Opera installed a bunch of files and keeps cache in precious application data space (RAM). At least with the WM2003se version. By moving all of these files to a CF Card or SD memory stick you free up valuable RAM.
1) Edit the "Opera.ini" file located in "\Application Data\Opera"
2) Go to the "[User Prefs]" group
3) Change "Opera Directory=\Application Data\Opera" to a location that you would prefer such as "\cf card\opera"
4) Change "Help Directory=\Application Data\Opera\Help" to a location that you would prefer such as "\cf card\opera\help"
5) Move the following files and folders to the location that you specified above:
cach4 (folder)
help (folder)
imgcss (folder)
startpage (folder)
styles (folder)
chartables.bin
cookies4.dat
global.dat
opcacrt6.dat
opera.dir
oprand.dat
opssl6.dat
viger.dat
vlink4.dat
You are left with these files/folders in "\Application Data\Opera"
skin (folder)
opera6.adr
input.ini
opera.ini
english.lng

Try connecting via Activesync on your PC to locate the Opera.ini file, not through File Explorer, Resco Explorer, or Total Commander. If you still cannot find the file, on your PC, go to the Control Panel, Folder Options. In Folder Options on the View tab, under Hidden Files and folders, select the Show Hidden Files and Folders radio option, click OK.
1.Connect your phone to your computer, and connect to ActiveSync.
2.Open the ActiveSync window, then click the Explore Device button.
3.Navigate to \Application Data\Opera 9.x.
4.Find the opera.ini file (If you don't have file extensions enabled, it should just show as "opera".)
5.Copy the file to your desktop.
6.Open the file in a text editor, such as Notepad. Immediately do a File>Save as and rename the file to something other than opera.ini. This is your backup, just in case.
7.Now open the original opera.ini file. Scroll down to the [User Prefs] section and insert the following line: Cache Directory4=\Storage Card\operacache\. (Note: "operacache" can be renamed to anything you want.) Save and close the file.
8.Copy the new file back to your device, into the same \Application Data\Opera 9.x.
I'm not aware of any other ways to get around this.

Hi Abiis,
Yes. Unfortunately, this will affect the speed of your browser. I'm not saying you should try this, all I have done is posted a possible solution in reference to your query. I personally wouldn't recommend putting the cache on the storage card as this will result in slowing down the browser and possibly make it crash more often.
It is entirely up to you whether you try this but if you do not want a slow and laggy browser, then I would suggest you avoid doing this.
Good luck

No problem man, anytime
solution found, thread closed by request
Ok. so I copied a shortcut of a folder from my SD to the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs. The folder contains all my movies, and my plan was to put the folder shortcut from the programs on the quick links on the home page. But i ran into a problem, when i try to open the the shortcut by pressing the windows start button, scrolling to it and click it, it gives me this error message' "the file 'folder shortcut' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling tor restoring the file."
Its weird cause when i go to file explorer and follow the path \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and click on the folder shortcut it opens and takes me right to the files. Anyone else encountered this? I spent like 4 hours today with my phone trying different things, and about 3 just now surving the web and here and cant find anything.
I have the TMOUS version of the HD2 and the transformers movies are located on the SD card and i can access them through the Start programs on the home screen. Any help would be appriciated, Im really stuck. Thanks in advanced
links to folders don't work the same.

Thanks for the info samsamuel, exactly what i needed. After reading the link i did some more research, and got it working perfectly. For anyone else intrested here are the steps to get a folder shortcut from your SD card to open in the programs area:
To make a shortcut on the start menu of a folder on the Storage card do these following steps:
1. Open up notepad on your computer
2. type in the command line (no quotes) “35#\Windows\fexplore.exe \Storage Card\’Folder Name’ ”
3. Replace “Folder Name” with the name of the folder in the Storage card you want the short cut to go to.
4. Click “save as” and name the file “whatever you want.lnk” (L lower case not I)
5. Copy The file to your phone, then to “windows\start menu\programs”
6. And your done!
Thanks again for your help
hi
i have a qeustion, can you do so that music player only finds your music folder on sd cardand not all other music files such as navigation voices.
U can try changing the folder names you want to hide. You just have to add "." In front of the folder name and Android will hide them from searches. Don't know if the prgram, like your navigation, will still fund it or not. There are some programs in the market that help but I just got up and can't think of the names they've been posted before in this forum..

Hey this also works for images
1pen notepad in windows - you dont need to type anything.
2:Go to file menu and Save...
3: In the Save as Type: dropdown select All Files
4: Name file .nomedia (just that - include the dot - no extension)
Copy this file to the topmost folder of any directory you don't want to play music from.
Alternatively: If you have Laputa book reader installed look in the Laputa Books folder on your sim card and each book folder will have one of these files in it - copy it wherever you don't music to be found
nomedia
Also search for "nomedia" app in the market. It will allow you to exclude folders.

Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I Accidentally renamed a directory in "my device" on my GT-I8000.
Can someone post a screenshot or list ?
WM6.1 Pro
\My Storage
\Storage Card
\
Application Data
ConnMgr
Documents and Settings
My Documents
Temp
Program Files
Widgets
Windows
Thank you for the reply. I still have all those dirs and several more.
The contents of the directory renamed accidentally are these subdirs:
Application Store
AppToDate
ArcSoft
CorePlayer
LockScreen
MDS
Microsoft
MobilityFlow
Opera9
PhotoAlbum.Data
Shazam
Skyfire
Skype
Sounds
Volatile
WindowsLive
wmTorret
Zirconia
Does anyone Know the name of this directory in WM6.1??
This is the "Program Files" folder. But it can be a different name depending on your language.
"Program Files" is still there in the My Device dir.
There are about 20 programs in that dir.

Thats correct.
In my NL langauge I have:
- Program files
- Programmabestanden
Both are used for program files but the last one is written in Dutch. Install a new program to "My Storage" and it will create the correct name here too.
