Looking for some advice/guidance. I have successfully unlocked 2 orange spv m600 and set one up for O2 and the other for Vodafone. When I send mms to each phone they receive no problem through gprs. GPRS internet also works fine. However, the size of the (identical) picture received on each is different. On O2 the received picture is 5k and is a small square in the centre of the screen which is barely readable, whilst on Vodafone the very same picture is 29k and full screen size. I am sending the same MMS message and picture from the UK 3 network. Have looked in all of the settings, including mms receive (set to original on both).
Can anybody point me in the right direction? Do I need to tweak something else (registry?).
As I'm asking questions - another relating to mms - sending size is limited to 100k, is there a way of automatically resizing pictures that are larger than this as I always get the message "image is too large......" if I try to append a picture I have taken. Is tehre a sofware solution or a setting I can tweak.
Cheers,
M

Hello to all,
I have an imate KJAM with ROM 2.16.9.1 WWE, Radio Version 1_02.20.11 and ExtROM ver: 2.16.9.108.
I have noticed when sending an MMS that you can only send an MMS of 5 sec. duration. But other MMS capable phones can send for 8secs, also I can receive these 8sec MMS and it will play for 8sec.
Is there a way to alter the length of the sent MMS from the KJAM?
Can I change it to whatever length I want?
I do realise that the carrier has restrictions on the size of messages sent and my particular carrier only recommends 100k, but I also know that if you have good signal strength then you are able to receive and send messages of a greater length.
Thanks.

Back again.
Before somebody jumps down my throat about searching the forums, I already had but did not get the results.

and

I have tried both of these, the reg edit does hold, but there has been no change in length of message I am able to send.
I currently have:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\SizeLimit] Decimal
"SendCount"=dword:00000001
"SendLimit1"=dword:000493E0 409600
"SendLimit2"=dword:00032000 409600
"SendLimit3"=dword:0003E800 512000
Which is 4 times higher than the orginal for sendlimit 1&2 and twice as much for sendlimit3. Since there has been no change in the displayed time I don't think there is any point in going further.
Ok here goes: I have unlocked an Orange SPV M600 (Prophet) and use it on the UK o2 network. It has original AKU2.0 as it is still under warranty by HTC.
Everything works fine except the MMS pictures are tiny thumbnails. If I set not to download automatically then I see the message (on the server?) at full size, it is only when I click download that it is shrunk, e.g. last night a picture was showing as 16k and when I hit download it arrived and was 3k - so too small to be of any value.
I have checked settings, including installing the o2 settings cab on the wiki (Lordsmiff...). This sets up mobileweb, and put some strange settings for MMS, not the o2 setting listed for manual input. The wiki o2 cab installs amongst other things the wrong server address (vpix or something similar!) . These setting do not work at all (I've tried). When I manually enter the settings (correct server etc) it works, but MMS are shrunk to 3k all the time.
I've tweaked the registry as per the wiki entry for prophet, but this really relates to send size and means I can set to 250k (previously unable to select this option), and tried all the settings like Original size, QVGA, etc. Still no luck.
I've also found a thread on here reporting similar problems in the USA with Cingular, and a cab to fix problem. I installed and then manually entered o2 setting, but again no luck.
One thing I'm puzzled about is when putting in MMS settings I have to say which service to use to download - the gudiance on here says select "O2 MMS" - but this is never on the drop down list. I have to select either O2 active or mobile web, or something else on the list and regardless they all exhibit the same behaviour - a 3k MMS picture!
I'm tearing my hair out, and if I don't get help soon will have none left!
Can anybody point me in the direction (or send) of a cab with the correct o2 MMS settings as the one on the wiki is corrupt (I've used the cab and the exe through activesync).
Other ideas and registry tweaks welcome. Or just sympathy from others with the same problem....
PS I emailed o2 and they said go to o2 shop, so I did and they said "ring customer support".
Update: put the spanish vodafone settings on a different wm phone last night and it too has the vpix settings in MMS. Is this just a setting that users are expected to manually input?
Come on, somebody must know the answer....?
Well i have a question i been looking on how to increase the current size of mms right now the max is 248k and also i tride sending a mms i press new mms on the messaging tab but nothing show up i am currently using binky11s rom 3.8 well thanks an advance
Are you sure that this is not a limit set by your operator?
Both my local operators allow VGA sized photos not larger than 100 KB and then they shrink these to thumbnails at 20 KB in size on the receiving side.
It's probably operator set. I use a Hermes on AT&T in the US and our maximum MMS size is 600k.
ok i flashe a different rom and now my new mms size is 600k the only promble is kind of slow does any one recommend a different rom the works with att/ cingular the roms i flash are bink11s diamond but binky11s mms dont work and diamond i am having difficulties getting apps to minimize thanks and advance
I've always had a terrible time with the MMS on AT&T. At least half of the time it will sit there forever trying to send it and then time out. It can get extremely aggravating.
Hello,
I've had a quick scan round for information on this, seems to be a problem with Windows Mobile whereby any MMS pictures I receive are being shrunk down to a completely useless size. Is there a fix for this yet? I believe the settings in the MMS menu only relate to the size of outgoing messages.
I have an unlocked, unbranded UK X1 and I have an O2 Sim in there if that's of any relevance.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as it's becoming a pain in the backside...
That's because the images are being resized by the senders' phone (smaller image > smaller size > less data transfer > cheaper)
Not much you can do your end, other than perhaps persuade your friends to see if they can chan ge their MMS settings to stop (or at least reduce) the image resizing before sending =/
The images are coming to the X1 at a much smaller size (2/3kb) than they are to any other phone.. and I've seen others report similar problems that have been fixed by phone-specific cabs?
I cannot confirm this, my MMS always come in the right size and the photos are as big as the sender wanted them.
Maybe you have set the network settings for MMS wrong? Do you receive them via GSM or GPRS?
Probably GSM - where do I check?
Messaging --> SMS/MMS
then press MENU and choose MMS-Options.
There you can change the settings, as maximum picture-resolution and so on.
One page there is named "Server", there you can change the connection.
It's named "A1 MMS" here and connects via "live!", while live is the connection I previously defined in my "Modem connections". When "live!" is a 3G-connection than it should be no problem, if life is set to a GSM connection then I could think of problems with this. You can also try to increase the maximum amount of data in the MMS options.
I haven't set too much there because my phone is branded and the correct settings were set from the beginning.
Doh.. just found another thread here relating exactly to my problem - sorry!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2926070&postcount=14
Tried it - works perfectly!
Just read that thread you provided, but I have one question.
Are we supposed to replace the Value data:
Current: X1i/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx
"with"
New: http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml
I just notice also that I only see 5strings instead of 6strings. Can someone shed some light on this matter?
Mahalos in advance.
Okay, I reapplied the registry settings and I got it to work now
Hi I’m new to the forum so forgive me if this is in the wrong place .Anyway I’ve got an expera x10 and the wife’s got an htc Hero we live in South Africa and are on the same network Vodacom(Vodafone) both of us can send and receive MMS with friends and family which include LG’s, Nokia’s and BB .Now here’s the strange part i can get mms’s from the Hero to my x10 but when i send an mms to the hero from the x10 all you get is an download icon and all it downloads is a grey screen. I searched the web but couldn’t find anything related. As usual nobody at Vodacom have a clue what’s going on and I wonder if someone out there can help please ???????
Not really too sure about the technical details of the X10 and the Hero. But can it be the MMS size? I know some handsets are limited to downloading a maximum size of 300kb.
Have you tried sending a smaller MMS?
Just tested sending a camera photo from the X10 to a Hero and it worked. Both handsets were on the same network.
So it shouldn't be a handset issue. Could be a network issue. By the way, the MMS size limitation can also be controlled by the network.
I posted about my MMS problem & some others memners as well, we didn't get any answer
I can't send or recieve MMS with X10. Yess, MMS settings are installed & every time i installed MMS-settings, i can send or recieve just 1 MMS. Trying sending more or recieving, mobile keep sending or downloading in many hours but MMS is being never sent or recieved
Since you are able to send/receive one MMS message successfully, then it's not a problem with your settings. I'm assuming that "MMS & data" are enabled and your APN is set correctly.
When you say that any more MMS are never being sent or received, is this fixed by restarting the handset? Or have you never been able to send any more MMS since the first one?
Unfortunately, so far there are only two options:
1) Reset/Reinstall the handset and hope for the best. If this doesn't fix the problem, then the problem should be with the network provider.
2) Contact your operator. They should be able to trace the MMS message and the error log in their MMSC.
Sorry if that's not of any help.
