TCPMP Song Info Display Plugin - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

The data is definitely there because it can be accessed under:
File > Media Info
A plugin to display internet radio station song names would be a wise addition, in my opinion.

Is there any today plugins for windows media player

Does anyone know of any today plugins for windows media player so that track information and controlling play/pause, next track etc can be done from the today screen.
I often find i start WMP, then while doing other things suddenly want to stop a tune playing etc, and have to go back into media player.
I know there's other programs like mort player that allow this, but is there any plugins for WMP.
I've tried PHM's pocket plus - http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/Plus/#PHMtWMP, but that doesn't seem to work with WMP10.
interested in this also... let me know if you find anything. thanks
been on a business trip and it's only now that i saw this post. here you go then; nice little app / today plugin that allows you to use your media player and control it from the today screen. it also gives you an extra option of displaying both battery and memory bars/indicators. the website is:
http://www.mobiletechreview.com/software/PPC_MP3_players.htm
scroll down and you'll "today player". clicking on it will give you this site:
http://www.todayplayer.com/
just copy the cab file and execute it through your unit. from there; go to today settings and click on the box to allow the plug in to appear on your screen. it gives you a play button, stop, previous and next songs, etc. the note icon on the left gives you a bunch of options; best of all it gives you an option of "lights off" meaning the media player will continue to play even if the screen is off. the 3-bar icon on the right gives you the options of loading playlists which you make through your media player. it also allows you to load folders for songs and such. it also shows you the song currently being played.
the only drawback i see is that it's limited to playing mp3 and ogg only. i have a bunch of wma files somewhere and i had to convert them to mp3. but other than that; i like it.
cheers
This is a stand alone player and it's very nice (had it on my iPAQ) tried this on my i-mate JAM before and had some display issues were in the player would not refresh properly... I don't think it has been fixed as dev't on this application has been stopped.

Thanks, I did take a look at this, but was hoping for one that was actually integrated into WMP and not standalone.

How can I run the Manila audio player on its own?

Hi there, this will seem like a very strange request, but I want to know how (if at all) I can run the Manila Audio player without needing to run the full Manila interface as I prefer the day to day use of Mobile Shell 3.
The Manila Audio Player organises the media files very well, allowing searching of the library by album, artist, genre very well, and all with my rather chunky digits...
I have tried several other offerings to replace Windows Media Player, the library function of this is sadly way behind the touch capabilities of most of todays windows mobile phones...
"Slide to Play" seems a little too responsive in CoverFlo mode and does not contain all the functionality in landscape mode, shame really as I want to use it in the car as a portable music collection whilst also running my TomTom Sat Nav in Landscape mode.
Any other suggestions or a way of using Manila's media player would be greatly appreciated...
I looked through the phones file system and was unable to find an executable that runs the Manila audio player. It appears to place a shortcut into the start menu when Manila is set as your Today screen but the shortcut disappears when Manila is removed from the today screen. I checked the proprieties of the shortcut and it points to "\Windows\ManilaShortcut.exe" music
I copied the shortcut to a new folder in my start menu and removed Manila from my Today screen but the shortcut would not open the player. It seems that the audio player will only work from within Manila
hi,
as anybody found a way how I can use the audio player without on manila enabled.
thanks,
steffen

Setting Playlist in Touchflo Music player

How do I go about setting the playlist to use in the Touchflo music player?
I've been googling for ages, but havent found any useful info.
Am I the only one that thinks the music player is a tad half assed?
Thanks
To your question, for me theres only one solution. That was to get Coreplayer. Much better application to manage and listen to music aswell as videos.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.
I have Coreplayer, but I prefer the convenience of the Touchflo player.
Anyways, figured out what I need to do.
- Open the Media player, and select Library
- Select on the drop down library option (top left) and ensure storage card is selected.
- Select Menu => Update Library
Once its finished, click Done.
- Select My Music => Album => All Songs by Album.
- Select Menu => Queue Up
- Select Ok and close the Media Player
Everything should now be listed in the Touchflo Library

WP7 Zune and Album Artist sorting/playing?

Before I start I want to be clear that I'm talking about 'Album Artist' here, not Album or Artist alone - just to save anyone being confused!
Basically I can't see how to set the Zune player on my HD2 to list music by Album Artist instead of normal/real Artist.
What I mean for anyone who doesn't know there terms, is mostly applied for stuff like compilation and mix CDs, where you might have tracks by a dozen different artists, but sold as a 'Ministry of Sound' CD for instance.
I want the artist to show as Ministry of Sound on my Zune player, because otherwise I end up with a separate artist showing for every track on the CD.
So for 1 CD, I might end up with 12 Artists all with 1 track against them, instead of 1 Artist with 12 tracks listed. And the end result is my player shows that it has hundreds of artists on there and it takes ages to scroll through them.
Sure it's not just me that has this problem, and most MP3 players can cope with this, but I can't see how to list music by Album Artist in Zune, either on the phone or on the PC.
Hope someone can help as this ruins the music player for me.
Cheers!

I just tried syncing "cafe del mar" (which has various artists) from pc using zune to hd2.
how i have it set up is in windows explorer (windows 7)
have the following columns viewable in windows explorer #,Title,Contributing artists,Album,Album Artist
album artist set as "Various Artists" (equally you could have it list as you which but all songs the same)
album set as Album Name (obviously)
Contributing artists - each song set to correct song artist
You can batch change the Album and Album Artist in explorer simply by higlighing all the tracks, right clicking properties- then details. here you can modify as required.
worked perfectly when sync'd to phone.
back in Zune on HD2
Artists lists "Various" and not all of the contributing artists
Album lists "Cafe Del Mar:Best Of 2004" which is the name of the album
Hope i'm on the right track with what you meant.
Thanks mate - I think we're on the same wavelength yes, but slight issue I have here is that my collection is on an xp machine.
When I try to view my music in detail view, contributing artist or album artist are not available options to have as columns in the folders, so I can't view the info that's stored on these tunes to check how they're set up at a glance.
I guess the first thing therefore that I'd need to do is to download a tag editor of some sort so I can view this info as it may simply be set wrong.
I think in my case I would be setting such info in these cases to Cafe Del Mar (good taste btw) or Ministry of Sound rather than Various as otherwise I'd have too much stuff under the same 'artist', and plus I can navigate a bit easier to stuff I like if I know which it comes under. Would have other groups like Soundtracks and so on as well.
Do you know if it's at all possible to add extra columns like that in on XP? I have a feeling it must be since I'm sure in the past or on other machines I've been able to, but I could be dreaming!
My windows 7 machines are laptop and netbook and they don't have the space or the speed for handling vast amounts of music, so for now at least it needs to be an XP solution for this, and if I can't set the folder view correctly somehow, it's gonna get pretty tedious pretty quick checking everything in turn in a tag editing app.
Thanks for the reply anyhow!
haven't been on xp for several years now but i'm sure its similar in explorer.
two ways - either...
in explorer-Right click on the album folder- properties. (alternatively the folder that holders all your albums
choose Customize Tab - Then Optimize this folder for - Music
(can apply to sub-folders as well)
or
if thats not an option go into the music (album) folder in explorer
Right click in the right window pane where Name/Date/Type/Size etc is and hopefully there will be a "more.." choice...
Add Contibuting Artist... and repeat for additional...
you can also uncheck items not required.
once you've done the above to the Root Music Folder you then
Goto the root Music directory and apply to the rest of the folders
maybe under file/folder options/view - "Apply to Folders"
Most of the above is guess work on very old memories of xp
Your description is absolutely correct except that in the list of available columns the options of Album Artist or contributing artist do not exist. I've already got the folders set as music template so that's not the issue.
That's why I was wondering if it's possible to add additional columns since the data is there (it shows in a tag editor as Various artists - I just checked!) but XP doesn't appear to be able to display those columns, even in the 'more' section etc.
On another note entirely - anyone know how to prevent the phone making a noise when I plug a charger into it? I've messed with the sounds options and turned off the option for 'other events/activities' or whatever it's described as.
Don't want it on silent but when I get in bed way later than I should be, and plug the phone into its cradle I don't want it announcing to the mrs what time it is by waking her up!!

Music Widget with History, Voice announce

I have been working on this for a bit and wanted to share. This uses Media utilities, tasker and Zooper to create a widget that displays current and last 5 tracks, album art and track names. My favorite player is neutron and the developer has kindly worked with me to get the metadata from the app to play nice with media utilities. It should work with most other players but can't promise.
As the track changes the album art and names will shuffle to the next position.
You must have Tasker, media utilities(.152), Zooper.
Make a folder in the pictures folder of your internal SD card next to where media utilities dumps it's album art(mu_coverart) and call it "widget"---that is where tasker will copy the album art as it plays your tracks.
Import the tasker project below-place the file in the Tasker/projects folder of your card--go to the tasker home screen and long press on the home icon, choose import and press the "music" project.
Put the "music full screen.zw" and "stacked full screen.zw" in the zooperwidget/templates folder.
Choose the widget of you choice and you are set.
Of course, the media utilities needs be be set up correctly, make sure there is no headset button controllers present(they block the album art).
Additional features:
The song info will announce at the beginning of the track so you know what is playing if you are in car, jogging or not looking at the screen--this can be disabled--go to the "song intent" task and comment out the Say line
If you click on the album on the stacked list or the artist name on the full screen your browser will open to search for the track on google to lookup info. If you look at the tasker variable list there is one called "musicsite" . I usually search heavyharmonies.com so I put "+site:heavyharmonies.com" in that variable.
I also use musicVU widget overlapping with the zooper as a frequency scope
Many thanks to Dmitry Kostjuchenko the developer of Neutron player for making the needed code changes for this to work (as well as one of the best sounding players on the market)
I found this useful widget, I installed it
I cant find the home button on tasker...
Love it! Thanks!
