ok question
is it posible to make initflashfiles move files and not just make link to a new location
Directory("\HTC\home"):-File("HH_BEZEL_fill.png","\Windows\HH_BEZEL_fill.png")
this only makes a copys HH_BEZEL_fill.png to \HTC\home and keeps the file in windows folder
can it move it and delete the .png from windows folder ?
I have the same question. Is it possible ?

I'm trying to copy the larger vga .exe into my windows folder, but it won't let me as they are read only. how can I do this
maybe I'm being a dumbass, but could someone tell me how to do this?
help me please
use a tool like Resco Explorer that can set/reset attributes, or can overwrite read-only files.
cheers bud
or just use shortcuts to the original exe file?
I had the same problem with some "Pocket MSN" files.....
Try to rename the old files. For example, rename them by adding filename"_old".exe
Copy the new files in place and try to delete the old ones. If this is not possible, just leave them.......
hi all, just want to know if we can delete any protected file (in ROM) ?
tobe specific, i want to delete folder "template" inside my document folder. and also all the html files in windows folder.
cheers.
I have been learning a lot about iconizing everything these last days, and I created some custom folders Vista style. So anyone ho wants to order his or here applications, here are some folders to put them in. They are VGA (tested) and should also be QVGA.
I named the folder 1 to 18, so everybody can decide for themselves which folder to to use for what purpose.
Since I use quickcab to create my cabs, which doesn't allow me put in the folder files, it's been split in two. A Vista Folders.zip which contains the Vista Icons.dll. Install this one in \Windows. The other one is a zip file which contains the Folder folder, with inside (who would have guessed...) the folders. Just copy them to your device (although I don't think copying them to the storage card works) and voila some more folders to up our devices. So, screenshots:
I hope you like them, and no I have not got any other folders (these are all vista offers)
Edit: I managed to create a .cab file that installs these into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs. For those that don't have a English/WWE ROM I'll make another one that installs the folders into \Folder folder.
Edit 2: I updated the Vista folders, as Skizzo pointed out I left some files in the .dll files that made it unnecessarily big.
There is one icon set that is very dear to me, which is the Buuf icon set by Manhattan. Of this set I have selected a couple of folder icons most likely to be used in a ppc environment. This guy (or girl) created over 1500 icons in this style which you can find on DeviantArt. These are my default folder icons, so I thought I'd share. Screen shots!:
Download the 12aon Vista Folders.cab here
Download the 12aon Buuf Folders.cab here
Hi,
well done! thanks for sharing! could you tell me how to show up the new icon.
i have installed the DLL file on Windows and also the other one. now?
thanks
ciao
I managed to create a .cab file, which installs the folders to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs, I will make another cab later that install the "Folder folder" into the root of the device, cheers 12
brilliant app
nice work
installed cab and ow i have folders in programs but how to make one of that folder for default?
so how to let say make that mypictures allways show as vista(mypictures) folder?
thx
Can you upload the Buuf folder icons here?
I can't download them from Rapidshare. (download limit reached)
Never mind, can download it now.

thanks you for your work
can you make a step by step how you do that ?
something with notepad or worldpad i think !
@intel, You have see hidden items enabled on your computer (I don't think you can from your device). In each folder you will find a icon.lnk file, just copy this one into the desired folder and you should be fine. An ohter way would be just to copy the folder created by me and put it in the desired place, rename and copy your files (you'll find these in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs)
@Aqrab: I don't really need to someone a little smarter than me explained this with much detail here. Do note that if you want to create these yourself you must be able to create .dll icon files. I hope this helps
is there any chance of making more vista folders icons ?
4 MB ?? it is too big!!... have you included only 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64 icons??? (only those size is needed)
BTW, i HAVE others program icons, all made by me..

No need to get cranky, I'm not trying to cross you just trying to contribute. I found the vista .dll file and thought I'd help out. Great news mine are also different fom yours so the people have got some extra choice as which of them to use. I'll resize it the .dll file file.
@ Aqrab: As for other folder, as mentioned Skizzo has created some others. But these are all the vista folders windows offers. I could however create some ore icons like WMP, and My Computer. Just give me a list of icons you need and I will create a cab file, cheers 12aon
Edit: updated to Vista Folders 1.1
12aon
you forgot to update the Attached Files to Vista Folders 1.1 !

You cannot remove files that are part of the ROM. You should be able to insert files but not replace them, unless you use TotalCommander.
Hi,
I was trying to sort out contents for my ROM. I made 3 folders for media contents - music/photo/video - which i put in the EXT folder.
Now, the contents, the song and its album art, in the music folder were processed okay. They showed up fine after I flashed the ROM. But not for the contents in the other two folders. I checked the build log and while the folders were included in the ROM, none of the files in those folders were processed.
I then put back some of the files to the original folder to see what happens and worked fine.
I searched around the forum but couldn't find anything or maybe I just didn't do it right. But please enlighten me on why this happens.
Thanks.
you should edit the regs in your camera EXT PKGS that way you will be able to create those folders and of course make some directories by app.dat check your initflashfiles.dat to know how

Thanks for the reply.
This is my first time cooking a ROM so please be patient. Still learning here.
I think I wasn't being clear. What I was saying was that the files weren't included in the cooking process, even though I enabled the folders in EVK already.
Usually, whatever folders I enable in the EVK, the files inside those folders will be in the Windows directory after I flash the ROM. And when I check the build log, they're there.
I still don't get why. I did download another kitchen and check and the owner just added a provxml file to copy those files to My Pictures/My Videos folder. I also tried that and nothing happened. I guess that's because the files didn't get processed during ROM creation and weren't in the Windows directory to begin with.
The ones in the SampleMusic was okay and I did use a provxml to copy it to My Music folder. I took out the provxml and worked fine. The files were found in the Windows directory. So I put some files back into the original folder in the SYS and they showed up. Very puzzling.
Oh i understand now
Well, if you want to move the files you can use the provxml... cause the EVK will add all files first in windows "ALL" then it will makes a copy of that files where you want them... Using the app.dat file inside every EXT PKG check them
I just cooked with a different set of SYS and will leave those sample multimedia files where they are. Not a big deal anyway.
As for those EXT packages/folders I made, I just moved the files from my stock OEM over only. Most of them don't have app.dat/app.reg/provxml as I want to make sure the cooked ROM work without trouble first before I mess around with those registry files.
Got a question though. If I make app.dat/app.reg/provxml for these packages, do I leave the stock registry files alone or modify them or even delete them?
well if you went from OEM to EXT the rgu should be converted into app.reg if not... "do it" cause RGU is not a file that will be registered and imported by the rom and app.reg is the file you must to use for import regs into the cooking process
The thing is that many rgu files I see, they have settings for multiple apps. I have to separate them into different files before I convert them right? And some apps have settings on multiple rgu/provxml files. What a pain.
And I just found out there's a program that converts OEM to EXT. And there I was, doing it manually the other day.
