Hello.
Is it any emulator/test tool available there you can test ROMS and other application on your computer before uploading them into the phone?
I don’t want to risk my phone to be unusable because of bad ROMS or applications..
Windows mobile SDK is a virtual PPC where you can install all your apps in order to test theim but I didn't succeeded in upgrading the ROM. If anybody has a solution...
The SDK emulator won't allow you to "flash" a rom, because that is device specific. You can test your apps in the emulator and see if they feet your need before installing them on your phone.

Just wondered if there's an emulator I can run on my machine to e.g. test Roms and/or software before actually installing it on my device?

There is a program called Microsoft Device Emulator 2.0, I haven't set it up yet, but you could google it.
Found it on Google Will defendly try later, thanks!
How do I run this? Do I need Vis Studio 2005? I suppose so, after what I can read on the download site.
After making a cooked ROM and before flashing into device, is it possible to run on PC enviroment in some sort of simulation or skin to try it out?
I doubt it.
The stand alone emulator from MS actually runs ARM code and uses a bin image file to load the OS.
Trouble is ROMs for different devices have somewhat different structure and are usually encrypted to some degree.
If a tool does exist to RUN certain ROM on a PC it would have to be leaked from the OEM.
This might be a strange questions, but is there such thing as a WM Emulator that I can run on my PC?
I am new to the PPC world and am trying to learn how to mod my device. However I am kind of scared that I will mess it up, or 'brick it.'
Any advice on how/where to start? I have searched but all the posts or help threads seem old and outdated.
I feel like I need a 'Windows Mobile 6 for xv6800 for Dummies' book!
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.
You can try Microsoft Device Emulator 2.0 (the emulator) and Windows Mobile 6 Localized Emulator Images (the ROM). You can also download Virtual Machine Network Driver for Microsoft Device Emulator if you need to connect to a network.
Hello there,
I'm developing applications for (i. e.) Acer A500 and need to use some of the Android SDK tools like hierachyviewer etc. which work on developer version of Android only (I need to use them on the real device, not emulator). I don't have any of that version and what's more don't know where to get it - so I thought about rooting my device - will it enable those tools on that device? Or do I have to install some mods?
Thanks in advance for the info.
It did work for me but I only tried a few adb and ddms commands.
That's great, can you confirm hierarchyviewer working? (Is it possible to load View Hierarchy for custom app?)
Ever wonder to test your downloaded apps on pc before you decide to put it into your phone? Try these apps.
1. YouWave
2. BlueStacks
