dialer without VIDEO button. what do i do? - P3600 General

i installed a new skin for the dialer which doesn't have VIDEO button.
in the menu there isn't a way to make a video call.
what is the sollution?

set up new themes dialup skin with video button

but i like this one
but i like this one

there isn't an option to add a video dialling on the menu when i'm on the dialer screen?

The answer is you can't do that. It may sound odd, but the 3G button is quite bundled and buried deep inside the dialer skin libraries. The 3G function is there in the dialer - but just there's no button you can push.
In order for the skin to show the 3G button, it needs a function call to the 3G function. Chances are the skin you downloaded are not designed for 3G machines, and naturally lacks the user interface for that button.
No, you can't configure it, you can't do registry hacks.... it's inside that dialer skin DLL designed by the person who designed the skin.

[new release] VJPhoneToggle

For those worried about the phone app using too much memory in the background:
WM2003 and WM5 compatible.
This program is used to toggle the phone.
Useful if assigned to a hardware key or a shortcut.
If the phone is open, it will be closed. If it is closed, it will be opened.
Please note, for VGA WM5 users use my VJBigPhone app instead.
This application supports international language versions. By default it will look for the "Phone" window.
If your phone is called something different, launch the application with command line parameters matching the name of the Phone.
eg In German
\program files\vijay555\vjphonetoggle\vjphonetoggle.exe Telefon
After installation you will find a shortcuts in StartMenu > Programs > Vijay555 > VJPhoneToggle.
Check it out on my website!
EDIT: guys I think I made the cab wrong. try the exe for tonight
www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjphonetoggle/vjphonetoggle.exe
V
Any1 got a screenshot how this looks like on a Qtek 9100
q-biq, it literally just closes the phone app. Or launches it. Nothing to see!
V
I didn't really understood the goal for this tool.
Phone dialer opens easly pressing the TALK button, and closes also easly by tapping on "X" or pressing END button.
For sure this tool is supposed to do something I didn't catch.
However VJ, I'd like to propose you a challenge, for another "similar" toggling tool.
The porpose is: I have a SIM Twincard to use with the mobile phone fixed in my car.
Whenever I power on the car, it is supposed to switch off the mobile phone to avoid SIMs interference. This is simple for a regular phone, but not so practical for a Windows PDA Phone.
You have to:
- switch device on
- tap on 'Radio signal icon'
- tap on 'Turn on flight mode'
And when leaving the car, repeat all again to activate phone.
My idea was a small program to assing to an hard button, which would toggle the 'filght mode' or just GSM radio.
So you have to press just on buuton like switchi.ng the on/off
What do you think?
Conchas: this application was made for mzaslam, under this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=34718&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
He is concerned that the phone app uses quite a lot of memory in the background, even when not in use. Pressing ok just puts it in the background. So VJPhoneToggle fully unloads the phone app when you're finished with it, and loads it again when required.
Re the Flight mode thing: I will have to make this app, but I use a dual sim myself and also use the flightmode off > flightmode on trick to switch sims.
I use PhoneAlarm on my setup. This can be set up to launch from a shortcut to switch profiles, so for my setup I use a today screen shortcut on claunch to switch to flight mode, work, home etc. So for my setup I have three thumb friendly icons to activate profiles on PA. So I can switch easily from Today. Is that ok?
V
Yes it works.
... but I always hae been looking for a small toggling application, assignable to an hard button.
Conchas: I don't understand. What do you want your hardware button to do? Load/unload an app?
V
I want my hW button to toggle 'fligth mode' on/off.
Or more exactly the phone radio on/off as the wireless manager does. More precise, as nowadays allmost every PDA phone device supports BT and WiFi.
i.e. I would like to enable/disable the SIM ability to register into the GSM/3G network, in order to avoid interference with a second SIM (twin card), whenver required (e.g. using into a car).
It is not just a matter of the last phone switched on, because when travelling by car, as you move to other network cells, the first phone switched on most likely will take the handover.
Guys, this has been updated to not require an international parameter on the command line.
It should internally support all international versions. I hope!
V
Conchas, is this what you are looking for? Just copy the exe to your device and bind it to a hardware button.
Great, Koksie
It works!
I'm using it manually.
Can you tell, where to put the '.exe', so it gets visible to assign on the "Settings > Buttons"?
I 've added it to '\Windows', but didn't get it visible.
Thanks
Fernando
You don't have to put it in windows. Just make shortcuts to it in the start menu. Any startmenu shortcuts get picked up by the Buttons cpl.
V
Hi,
Forget it.
I miss something. In fact it was possible to assign to the buttons, if copied the '.exe' to '\Windows.'
Great!
Thanks Koksie

Skinning the default phone app

Hi
I have my Exec in corporate mode, so the phone application isn't skinned with the O2 phone skin with the Video button, its the default blue one.
Is there a way to create a skin (or directly edit the button images) to change it to a black/silver skin?
I have tried installing a couple of VGA skins but they all seem to change the CALL HISTORY button to a VIDEO CALL one....I never need to video call but make extensive use of the Call History button and don't want to loose it.
i've tried looking in the \windows folder and can see the images I need to change but when I use GSfinder to copy ones over them it doesn't work as there ROM files. I can't see any reference to them in the registry. The only ones I can see in the HKLM\Security\Phone settings seem to only work/be used when the VIDEO CALL button is activated.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

Simply HTC Home with rlToday plugin

Hi all since I'm using WM6 I like the HTC Home Plugin but it drain a lof of resources so I draw a simple rlToday skin wich is like first one
- This skin do not need mortscript
- You need only rToday plugin and a font to be installed
(also you can update skin.xml to use system fonts)
How to install:
1) unzip the skin and copy the folder under \Program Files\rlToday
2) copy *.ttf to \Windows\Fonts
3) enable this skin in rlToday plugin via Setting\Today from start menu
Note:
* If you like to change the clock font remember to adjust XY coord
* You can choose to show current operator or cell broadcast message by updating the XML with these registry paths:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Phone\Current Operator Name
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Phone\Cell Broadcast
Change log:
20070805
- Fixed hour digit X coord
- Added the current CELL Broadcast message
Thanks you all forum.xda
Cell Broadcast Messages?
Thanks.. I have modified the applications since most of them are different on my 6828. + added Last Incoming Call line as well. Do you have any idea whether rlToday supports Cell Broadcast Messages?
whawhawha...héhé...nice job
I go to try !
is there a formula to make this 240x240 compatible? or it's just trial and error?
There is a complete documentation for rlToday here
Worth reading it
The front of the phone has a beautiful high quality metal finish, at the bottom we have the phone end and send buttons, the end button also doubles up as the home button, a Windows key which is a requirement for future devices that will support Windows Mobile 6.5 and a back button. Above the keys you can see the zoom slider, this is a touch sensitive panel that you slide your finger along to zoom in and out of pictures and web pages.

Add Plugin(s) to the Home Screen - WM6.1 v4.1

I am interested in adding the Internet Calling Plugin to the Sliding Panel Home Screen in WM6.1 v4.1. I have Internet Calling working from other Home Screens but and it works in the Sliding Panel but I cannot change the settings\options from this Home Screen.
- I have modified both of the SlidingPanel.home.xml files to show a Plugin CInternetcalling.
- Added a CInternetcalling Key entry into the registry under HKLU\Software\Microsoft\CHome with the Strings GUID as {F2A8B9A4-8B0B-48d8-BED2-B019FDE2BEC5} and LocName as Tapi.
- Added CInternetcalling to the reg entry "Plugins" under HKLU\Software\Microsoft\CHome
Still doesn't show. Am I missing any entries or am I doing work for no reason as it isn't possible?
slide does not work like normal homescreens. Bronze is the only plugin that will run. so you have to create individual slide menus.
you can get the program chome editor 1.1.01 or somthing like that. easy gui to create new menus on slide.
your better off using htc home this plugin venture.
I downloaded\installed chome editor 1.1.01 and it seems to work great. The issue I run in to now is that WM6VoiP isn't an exe. If I could figure out what calls up the Internet Calling page it might be possible to add this via a slide tab.
I'm not so much worried about it showing whether or not I am connected to my voip provider as I am being able to turn it off when I want without have to change the home screen.
Any ideas on what the function\file is that is used when you select your voip provider from a nonslide home page that takes you in to the Internet Calling page?
Changed my strategy a little. Stumbled across the CHom Configurator app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393104&page=13
I have the slide working so that when I hit the center button it opens the Internet Calling page. Still can't get it to show the "Provider" in the slide.

You can try CHome editor for making the panel for it. Try your softkey shortcut config it may have the option for Kinoma. If not then another way would be to download and install SmartToolKit RC08. Don't bother with any of the other STK cabs because they're extremely unstable, especially RC09. With smart tool kit comes a full vista-like menu that is a lot easier than the normal dash 3g functions because it puts it on the homescreen and works identical to a PC start menu. Meaning it if you click the start softkey it overrides the normal function allowing for the STK menu to appear and disappear. A lot of folks cringe at the idea of using it since RC09 was so buggy, but it actually works really well for me (especially since I'm so lazy)...lol.
