I have a wizard with WM6.
The device becomes automatically locked if left for say period of 20-30seconds.
How do I control or disable this such that only backlight is turned off?
I have the "Device Lock" today plugin seems to be doing it?

go on start>settings>personal you got app lock, select lock and change the timing of locking, beside that i wouldnt ask such lame questions
hehe, i know it's a noob question but heck I still can't find it.
I'm using NBD7.9 if it helps (maybe the mod change something).
Anyway, in Personal -> I click Lock
It brings up a screen with:
Password
_________
[Tick Box] Prompt if device unused....[x minutes]
But this is password, and not lock/unlock with time to lock
If you are using something like battery status or spbshell, there are options like "lock device on wake up" or something... try unchecking them too...
Check under start>settings>lock.
Do you have prompt if device unused checked?
That's the only setting I found after using search, using Device lock

Hello,
can I lock automatically my device by clicking on the power button before to switch the screen off? ( or is there an application that performs what i mean? )
Thank You

Hello, Ive tried the first one already. It seems that it's only possible to lock device by clicking every button but the power one...Is it right?
Try Battery Status plugin discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751
You can download the latest version here: http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_BatteryStatus_XDA_Neo_WM5_iM_cs.htm
This application does a number of things but locking your phone is one of them. I have it set up so that when I turn my prophet off (the power button) it locks.
I already have latest battery status, but I cannot set it to perform what you are saying. Can You tell me about your settings? Thank You
Start - settings - today - items - scroll to "BatteryStatus" - options - On Wakeup - check "DeviceLock"
Hope this helps.
what about...
start > settings > lock
tick the "prompt if device is unused for" and set the time to "0 Minutes" from the drop down. Then when you tund off, then on, it asks for the password.
Works fine for me!!
If I am using any program, say Calendar, and I put the Mogul to sleep with the power switch, then wake it up a few minutes later with the power switch, the phone always reverts back to the Today screen. I want to put it to sleep with my Calendar showing, and wake it up right where I left off (NOT taking me back to the Today screen.
Is this a bug, or is there a way I can set the device to always wake up at the same place it went to sleep?
Thanks.
I dont personally have Titan but there are 3 options:
1. Check Settings->Today->Items. Check if the Today timeout is turned on.
2. You have battery status app installed? Check the options for the Today screen wake up.
3. Check Settings->System tab->Power. Something about Today screen after wake up.
Good luck.

It's not a bug, simply enable the "Today Timeout" on your phone like vlodeck suggested.
Another option is to enable the "calendar" item to appear on the Today screen. If you're unhappy with lack of detailed information the "calendar" item provides when enabled, you may want to check out TodayAgenda. It's a free application that allows more customization, etc.... you can find it at http://www.tiews.info/index.php?show=&lang=en
On my HTC Touch, if you have a security password set it will always revert to the Today screen. Try disabling your password.

Thanks for your help. I have run all of these suggestions and found the answer.
1. Changing the Today timeout setting had absolutely no effect. Regardless of whether it was set on or off the screen went back to Today every time I woke it up.
2. I have no battery app installed. There is no Today setting under Power.
3. Calendar is enabled on my Today screen. This had no effect on reverting to Today when it wakes up.
4. The answer - Security Password. If a Password is enabled it reverts to Today every time it wakes up, but - weirdly enough - only if the password timeout has not expired. In other words, if you turn it on and don't need to put in your password yet it goes back to Today. If you do need to put in your password it goes back to where it was and not to Today. If no Password is set at all the screen wakes up where it left off.
This I do consider a Bug and I will be looking for a new Security Password program. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Glad you were able to figure it out. If you find that having your device password protected all together is just a hassle, you may want to try setting the phone up without the default settings. Basically, when you turned your phone on for the first time there were three applications that automatically ran during the setup process. Bypassing these three programs during the initial setup of your phone will eliminate the password protection altogether. It will also allow your phone to boot-up much quicker when soft-resetting, etc.... and possibly free more memory.
In order to bypass these installations you would have to hard reset your device. After hard resetting a small dialog box pops up stating something along the line of "your device will continue the setup in 3 seconds". If you allow the device to continue it will then install these three programs i've mentioned. To bypass their installation, simply do a soft reset before the 3 second dialog box disappears. Then go into windows/startup folder and delete all three entries.
Thanks, I'll work on it this weekend. Will I lose any other functionality than password protection? What do those three programs do?
Meantime, I do need a Security Password - I have too many sensitive items on my PDA for it to fall into the wrong hands. Obviously the WM6 Security Password has been a problem for me. Anyone used a third party security code that worked well?
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a way to get the Device Lock feature (appears as a padlock on the Today screen) to active automatically after a preset length of time.
I have WM5 on my ex-SPV/M700 and the feature is very handy for preventing false button presses whilst device in pocket etc but annoyingly can only be invoked manually.
Thanks in adavnce for any help/info,
LL

hello all...i had a quick question regarding throttle lock...the reason im using it is as an alternative to s2u2 bc that is a battery hog on my tp2...i was wondering if anyone knows through experience whether or not throttlelock will consume less battery power...also, is there a way to get it to lock whenever u put the phone into "sleep" mode (pressing the top power button to shut off the screen)...thats really the only thing i want to use it for...for example, when i press the top power button and the screen goes off, how do i get throttlelock to be whats on the screen when i "wake" the phone back up...it seems to me that the only options are to have it activate once u restart (power off and on) the phone or by pressing the throttle lock icon...i would find it very more useful if u could use it like s2u2 (turn screen off and tada!!! theres throttlelock)...can anyone help???
try smartlock. It works with the 6.5 lock and adds the functionality of locking when the phone is powered down. Search for the cab and there are instructions on what box to check to get that functionality.
will smartlock work with 6.1?
I tried s2u2 and also found that it seemed to use more power (based on readings from Homescreen++). Using throttlelock doesn't seem to have much noticable increase at all.
As for getting it to lock when you turn the screen off and wake try the following ...
Go into settings > Lock > Change 'idle time before lock' to '1' then click ok to save settings. Then exit the config go back in and change this back to '0' and 'ok'/save.
It works on my xperia as your wanting ... e.g, turn off screen using button on top, turn on and I need to enter the sequence to activate. I can't find the thread that I read the above solution on at the moment but if your struggling I will see if i can find it.
Throttlelock seems to be ok for me. It does not take much RAM, and does not consume that much power. I do have the lock thing to 0, and throttle lock comes up whenever i turn the phone on.
I used to use smartlock, but for some reason it doesnt work on the build i have!

I realise this is probably a daft suggestion but you do have autolock switch in the config?
Are you using 0.7?
Heres a link to the Throttlelock website wiki explaining the functions.
Might be of some help.
I'm having some trouble with the incoming call feature but apart from that it seems pretty stable.
I've tried the other options but the pattern unlock does it for me

it's the pin lock for the whole because i use exchange mail, it's a security pin that everytime the phone goes to sleep, i have to enter it in. i did find a fix for this, it's in the reg file.
I seem to have a problem with the locking screen. I installed the official ROM for WM6.5 and when i lock my device i get the ugly Gray screen with Gray button telling me 'Push to unlock'
I thought that WM6.5 by default had an unlocking screen with a slider of some sort. Any ideas?
Grtz
You got the TD2 Tools? With this program you can enable the unlock screen of Windows Mobile 6.5
Maybe this helps?
Yes I installed that, but i see no option to enable the WM6.5 locking screen.
Sorry, my fault... it's a tool called DiamondTweak
in this tool you can activate the lock screen
Sorry, may I know if this screen is automatic lockup after a prefinded idle time? And does it require a password to unlock? I see a similar function in control panel, can set time, but need a password.

It locks the screen after some time, when you did nothing with your mobile! It does not require any password for unlock!
The function in the control panel is to prevent other persons to do something on your device after the time you can choose! The password you need there is the one, that you want it to be!
Have you tried
Settings--->lock---> display ---> Windows default / classic.
YOu will need to soft reset after change
