Hi All!
I'm a newbie to the XDAIIi scene but have owned a pocketpc and sony clie handheld device. My problem is that I cannot set MP3's as ringtones. Does anyone know of a workaround or is there any freeware or alternative software that will allow me to do this? I have even encoded some MP3's to .wma & .wav format with the right encoding specs, but to no avail!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

can the mp3 be read off from other directories in the storage card?
MP3 Ringtones on XDAIIi
cychiam,
MP3's can be read from anywhere on ur PPC, especially external storage cards, but if ur using them as ringtones, I believe they have to reside in the 'Ring' folder in the 'Windows 'directory.
An important note for anyone who has had problems, like me, getting to use MP3's as ringtones on ur XdaIIi is: If you have a third party piece of software installed on ur PPC like, Betaplayer or the DivX Player, you must uncheck the association it has with MP3's under the Players settings/options. Else it will prevent the Xda being able to associate itself with MP3's as ringtones! Took me the better half of two weeks to find this simple solution and the credit goes to someone else, I just found the answer on another forum.
Hope this helps someone.

Hi guys! Just wondering if anyone knows how and where to install polyphonic ringtones for text messages on the TyTN. Spoke to a really helpful guy at TyTN HQ who tried to help but to no joy.
At the moment, text message alert is using midi sounds but I would like to use my own MP£ or polyphonic sounds as an alert instead as I don't like the ones provided...can anyone out there help me at all please?
Many thanks,
Stevie.
Hi,
without a special prgramm you can only use wav format as polyphonic format. copy the wav files into the windows folder. thats it.
Good man Rob and thank you so much for the reply. Managed to find a sound conversion program and it seems to have done the job.
Which program were you talking about which would do the job for me just fine?
Many thanks once again,
Stevie.
I am looking for some new ringtones, something simple but unique. I dont like music ringtones or theme songs, etc. One of my main ringtones is the one from the movie "Crank". I attached that ringtone to this thread.
Anyone else have any simple, cool ringtones?

This is my favorite ringtone ever. It's the martians from Sesame Street (the Yip Yips) finding a telephone.
@nolageek,
that’s cool, i remember them from childhood. I found some variations of the ringtone here

I have just been to www.comparethemeerkat.com and there is now a download section, you can download ringtones and backgrounds etc..
As I am a big fan of the jingle, I thought I would let every one else know about it..

No need to use PC. HTC MP3 Trimmer does it on the phone.
Newbie here, I had the 24 CTU ringtone on my old Nokia which worked very well. I am wondering if some has this ringtone on their Desire yet?
If not how can i make one- or maybe someone can make one and post it on here to share?
i dunno this ringtone but you can try ringdroid. you can create ringtones from your songs at any minute or second you want
you don't nead ringdroid the desire has a built in app, play mp3/wav in the music player, menu set as ring tone, then select trim.
done
Try http://www.mabilo.com/ Easy to use and fairly big database
