O2 XDA II vs T-Mobile MDA II

I need some opinions. I'm currently using a mobile phone on a t-mobile network. I want a XDA II, but, it will mean ditching my current t-mobile contract and starting with O2. Is this right?
Can I not get a T-Mobile MDA II instead and continue the T-mobile contract? Are they the same? Are they even available here in the UK
I have only ever seen the MDA II being sold in Germany. So does it only work there.
Help me out, please.

check forums for xda2 codes you should be able to make it network free
all networks but keep it to your self we are getting 250 uk pounds to open them to all networks
Smiffy, the phone can be unlocked for free thanks to the guys that run this site, just download xda2unlock, all you need is usb cable or cradle, it is a very simple process and at the end of it you will have the unlock code, all xda2/mda2 are triband so will work in UK.

Need some info about T-Moblie MDA II in USA

It has been a while since I have read the boards and so I am having a problem finding any information on whether or not I can purchase a MDA II and use it with my T-Mobile service in the USA. I currently have the older version of the T-Mobile Pocket PC phone and would like to upgrade to a new phone. Can anyone help me with my question about the MDA II in the USA or is there another PocketPC phone you would recommend?
I think the MDA II/XDA II only works on 900MHz which is used on European networks. I'm not sure if it works in America or if it works well in America.
Actually, T-Mobile USA does 900MHz don't they?
T-mobile in the USA use 1900.
As far as I know the MDA II is triband so it will work with T-Mobile USA
It will NOT work with cingular

Any phone that uses 1900MHz will be fine for you then.
I have an O2 Xda II bought in Singapore last Summer and I use it in NY on T-Mobile. It works great.
I have just upgraded my ROM using the latest UK patch 1.72.187 (radio 1.17.00) and it works fine.

is TyTN compatible in Japan ?

I have a question for all japan Xda-dev's : does the TyTN work in Japan ( I will be in Tokyo next week) or do I have to leave it at home ?
is the FOMA of NTT (or VODAFONE umts) compatible with this phone ?
thanks to all
yes. i believe it works with docomo's network. the HTC TyTN is GSM/WCDMA and since japan's network is WCDMA, it should work there. I alse believe that Japan is selling the TyTN as the HTC Z in Docomo's network.
Take a read here:

I am really using Dopod CHT9000 (Taiwan version of Hermes) in Japan.
I have confirmed that it can work completely with Japan's W-CDMA 3G networks, both NTT DoCoMo and Vodafone Japan (FYI, its name will be changed as Softbank from Oct 1).
thank you all, and this is the official HTC reply to my question
Dear Lorenzo
Yes the HTC TyTN is fully compatable with the Japanese networks. We also supply phones to Japan and have many satisfied customers there.

I would be careful my XDA EXEC only works on Vodafone because docomo base stations are a mixture of R99 and R4 (Standard)
Unless they are upgraded the stations or the Radio firmware on the Tytn you may have problems if you use DoCoMo on a non japanese Tytn

Also it's going to be pricey to run since Vodafone or docomo doesn't have capped price plans (i.e all you can eat)
They do offer discount plans but they are still damm pricey ( I'm using a PDA and a PHS card because of this)
Rob
I am using Dopod9000 with a FOMA sim card, working perfectly for both voice and data. I used to go with Vodafone which is really expensive for data but Docomo is getting affordable, it can be close to 10,000 yen a month like what Willcom (phs) can offer.
Dug my Exec from the back of the cupboard last night and tried the FOMA simm from my work phone
Still doesn't work on DoCoMo which radio version has your phone got on it ?( Setting--> system ---> device info)
Thanks
Rob

Smartphones that work on the Three Network (UK)

Hi,
I just recently moved from Orange to Three. However, my beloved unlocked Wizard does work with the Three network.
So, can anyone provide me with a list of Windows Mobile smartphones that work on the Three network? I'm confused at the moment..
What about the TYTN or unlocked versions from T-mobile and Vodaphone?
An unlocked version of the XDA orbit?
Please share your experiences of which smartphones work best for you on 3!
Cheers

Wizard 3G

I have an XDA Mini s, i have noticed that one of the guys in the office has an orange SPV which is exactly the same, his has 3G however. Is this a hardware difference or software (eg ROM) upgrade, and if its either , how do i do it.
The guy is mostly likely to have a Orange SPV M3100 (a.k.a htc Hermes), which is a 3G phone. The whole hardware is different.

Hermes/TyTn is very similar, though not 'exactly the same'. Hermes is 3G. May be your colleague has a Hermes...

Thanks starkwong,
Just new to this so wasn't sure. Iv'e managed to unlock the phone today and install a new radio ROM and WM6, thought if i could upgrade to 3G that would be the icing on the cake.
Out of interest if i was to but a M3100, could i flash it to use my T-Mobile card etc
