Hi,
with my earrings (large piercings) I always touch something on screen while in a call, can the screen be deactivated/switched off/locked during a call?
Once you have started a call, you can press the power button to turn off the screen, the phone call should stay active. This works in WM6 for sure, im not sure about WM5
Works under WM5 as well.
another option is the application phonealarm, it has the ability to turn off the screen automatically when a call connects.

Anyone know how to stop an accidental clicks or other screen presses from taking place when I've got the phone to my face during a call?
Si.
I use a freeware app called Screen Off, download it here:
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...latformId=2&N=96806&productId=125781&R=125781
Basically when I make a call or answer a call I have screen off assigned to a button, so I can then press the button to turn the screen off. To turn the screen back, just press the power on button.\
Hope this helps,
Or maybe you could simply turn PDA off with a single power button press...and when you're finished simply turn it on. Remember that the radio is always running (unless you hold the power button for 5s).
My screen turns off automatically after about 20 seconds when on a call - haven't set it to do this - in fact can't even find an option - it just seems to be the default setting. The only way to turn it back on is to press the green or red buttons, or just flick the volume control either way - works for me. (O2 XDA Mini s)

Macrinus - thx that works a treat.
That's weird, your screen turning off after 20 seconds, mine turns off as configured in "Turn backlight after..." and "Turn off device...".

Yeah, it is weird - bit annoying, but sensible really to save the power - Perhaps its just the device turning off then, with the phone still running .... comes back to life with a flick of the volume though - touching the screen won't re-activate it. Will have to time it a bit more closely !

Radio on screen off
I too turn the device off when I'm on a call (although I only discovered I could without ending the call this morning). Otherwise, my ear activates the Start menu.
Doh!
if only the backlight is turned off, the screen WILL still react to face contact!
I understand that either the device (less the phone side!) via power button, or the screen must be turned off via an utility.
It may exist, but I know no proggie able to lock the touchscreen without turning it off!
(pitty, my axim X50v can lock the screen without turning it off via a Hw sliding button9
When my phone rings I'm invariably touching the screen and disconnecting the call as I remove it from my case. I think the easy solution here would be to inhibit the touch screen while the phone is ringing - I've searched here and elsewhere and not found any comments about this issue. Anybody have any thoughts?
I found a couple threads about auto-locking the phone at sleep mode, but then the hardware answer button wouldn't work either, right? TIA.
Why don't you use the supplied screen lock today screen plug-in. It does exactly that. Will keep the screen inactive but thr call accept and reject buttons will keep on working even when the screen is locked.
Hope this helps and regards
Try using PhoneAlarm
PhoneAlarm lets you blank the screen when you connect on a call but not while it is dialing. Pressing the power button while on a call gives you full access to all keys.
Hi, I've the problem with incoming calls. Afer the ring and pressing the green button to answer the screen is turning off (just like standby mode). I can only press on/off switch to see screen again or stop call by pressing the red button, than all is displaying again. It isn't normal, I think, and very unconfortable to get options while a calling is on. Thanks for advices.
It is normal. It prevents you from touching the touch screen by your ear during the call , also saves some energy. If you need for example calendar during the call, you can push on/off button.
I think there is some registry hack which can prevent this behavior.
Also, see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460377
My wife's got a flipout, and loves it except for one thing:
When she's in a voice call, sometimes it will randomly hang up (not due to network issues). The only thing I can think of is the touchscreen might be touching her cheek and pressing the hangup button.
My question is--is there a way to disable the screen in call or set it so that only closing the phone will terminate the call? I've searched settings and come up empty.
If you press the lock button (small button) during a call, then the screen becomes inactive. I'm not sure how to do that automatically. Probably possible with the app 'tasker'.
is there a way to lock the screen when on a bluetooth call, I often hangup on people because I hit the end call button to lock the phone out of instinct
is there something I'm missing is a popup menu???
Button savior or zMooth (pro only) has the option to turn off the screen using software buttons or swipes. This way you can turn off the screen during a phone call.

Or you can get the lockscreen widget from the market. The one I use is a yellow round one and it works great for me.
