Best Vanilla Firmware - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello All,
Long time since I was last on these forums.
I hope someone, maybe a Mod, has a definitive answer for me.
I have an Orange M5000, and I would like to flash it with the best vanilla firmware available. Does anyone have any ideas? Which is the most stable, best radio version, etc, etc.....
Thanks in advance

If you want wm5, try the official qtekk firmware. If you want cooked firmware, try, Helmi aku3.5.1
If you want wm6, you can try mine(see sig)

What are the limitations of the WM6 ROM? Does it still have memory leak? and issues with WPA-TSK?

memory leak:almost like wm5 roms
issues with WPA-TSK:yes

Cast yr opinion on d most reliable ROM upgrade for O2 XDA

It has been pretty confusing lately on what ROM and Radio stack upgrades to apply on an O2 XDA unit, especially with the emergence of so many ROM and Radio Stack versions all claiming to have solve the problems of its predecessors. So to your what really is the most suitable, most reliable and most stable ROM and Radio Stack version to use on an O2 XDA unit? and why?
Your opinions are going to be pretty helpful for many O2 XDA users who have been dying to get an upgrade...
I recently intalled and tested ROM 4.00.11 ENG and ROM 4.00.16 T-Mobile as a conclusion -- I noticed that although WM 2003 is impressive and has numerous new features to boast than its predecessor (PPC 2002), it still has to work on several bug issues, specially regarding the issue on stability. Although unsatisfied, I do not regret installing WM 2003 beta on my unit because it gave me a perpective on what to expect of this promising new OS the moment final version upgrade becomes available. Overall, I suggest that it's better for us users to stick to our old ROMs until we get the final release of WM 2003 from our respective manufacturers.
So far, the most stable ROM available that I've tried is ROM 3.20.06 ENG and if you want to know why, then I suggest you try it!
Flashing ROMs is dangerous, it might result to an unusable XDA.
Please try to participate coz' this will serve very useful to many users who've been wanting to grab an OS update!!!
Where abouts did you get 3.20.03?[/quote]

last rom

I just got a new qtek s200 (i-mate jamin) from vodafone and i was wondering what's the best and newest rom available.
in the imate's ftp i downloaded JAMin_WWE_213923_2139123_022021_ship.zip, is this the latest rom available? is it better to use another rom like dopod?
thanks!
As you mentioned, you saw the last i-mate ROM in the FTP.
Many people said (PDAMobiz and also here) that the Dopod ROM is the more stable and better than others. I tryed both and now I'm testing the Spanish i-mate ROM. I can not tell you wich one is better, at least for me, find much better the i-mate one, but I'm sure you can find a lot of tester and they are going to give you another opinion.
Try it and choose the better one for you, then, share you opinions!

which rom should I pick?

Quick question for all you pros out there. I just purchased the att version of the siemens sx56. Will receive in mail shortly. I want to upgrade to wm2003. As this is the 900/1900 verision, is it ok to use the qtek Rom 4.02.04. From what I understand the qtek 1010 is a 900/1800. Will this cause any problems?
Also is the t-mobile rom 4.01.16 any better than qtek rom?
Selecting any ROM causes no difference to the radiostack of the device. So you could take any ROM you want.
Selecting the ROM depends a little bit on the way you want to use the device.
The T-Mobile ROMs often have the Problem of reflashing the device. My personal
favorite is the 4.01.12
Stefan
Thanks for the quick reply. I will be using the internet a lot primarily through gprs and just want a stable Rom that wont hang or give me crazy problems.
What exactly about the 4.01.12 rom do you like over the others available?
I like the wmodem application of the ROM, also reflashing is easy possible.
And it´s one of the ROM´s that was nearly official announces by o2...

Flashing a new ROM

Hi!
I`m new to this scene and quite a newb. I bought my MDA Pro (as far as i know, it`s equal to the Universal) yesterday from a friend and i`ve already unlocked it.
Now i`ve stumbled across this great forum. There are many ROMS on this page, and, to tell the truth, i don`t have a clue about the whole stuff...
Could anyone be so kind and tell me, which ROM is the "best"? I would like to use a stable ROM, that`s properly working with Bluetooth (because of my GPS Mouse and BT Headset) and, of course, WLAN. And it should work a bit faster than the original ROM, if possible.
And... what`s the difference between the Mobile Windows 5 and 6? I´ve read something about issues on the Bluetooth functionality?
Edit: Currently i have the Radio 0.0.0 Rom (or something in that way) on my Universal. Do i have to update that Radio ROM thing too?
Thanks a lot for the answers
Chris
Ok... Now i`ve tried two different FWs on my universal.
the Qtek Firmware and a FW that`s called Jasjar after i read about its benefits...
Both ROMs won`t work with my Provider... I can find some Providers like A1, T-Mobile and ONE but 3 (Hutchinson 3G or something like that) won`t show up...
Does anyone know this problem? Or can you tell me, which Custom ROM is the "best"?
To be honest, I've tried them all, and at this point I am tired of changing. You only have 2 choices anyway, so here are my experiences:
1st: IF you are looking for an Official WM5 ROM that supports AKU2 and A2DP, stick to this 2 only, because they are the most stable and fully functional, even VIDEO CALLS:
1) QTEK ROM 1.30.77
2) TMobile NL ROM 1.30.115
2nd: IF you are looking for Cooked WM6 ROMs (ALL WITH NONFUNCTIONAL VIDEO CALLS), there are alot of them, but here are the important ones to always try:
1) Dark Force ROM
2) JWright's ROM
3) PDAViet's Modification of Dark Force ROM
4) Helmi's ROM (either his release or through the kitchen)
5) Laurentius26 ROM, cooked from Helmi's kitchen.
6) Grayme's ROM, cooked from Helmi's kitchen.
Personally, I am using the TMobile ROM. I am tired of trying ROMs. I have not enjoyed my Universal for months, because I keep looking for the perfect ROM. Guess what? It all depends on what you prefer.
As for the WM6 ROMs. I prefer PDAViet's Modified Dark Force ROM or any Dark Force ROM. Why? It lacks the FREEZE bug after a soft reset. JWright was able to address the issue, but his ROM do sometimes hang after a soft reset. But, as I said, it all depends on what you prefer.

Considering above factors I too agree that for months I am not very happy with wm6 since it got out. Loads of problems, and not a single one is perfect.
So I guess I am gonna downgrade to WM5.
Since I have a Imate Jasjar it would be AKU3.3 of Jwright which was steady or if you could suggest which one.
at least I will be able to use my mac with missing sync and video call is there too.

If you are looking for a stable JWright ROM with VIDEO CALL functions. Look for JWright's AKU 3.2 ROM. It has 31MB free Main Memory after soft reset, but the problem is: IT IS NOT GOOD IN MEMORY HANDLING after you install apps. I could not pinpoint a specific app, because I tried installing different apps after a hard reset, and I always ended up with a memory leak. You can try, you might be lucky and not have the memory leak.
Jwright did not release a WM5 AKU3.3 only AKU3.2.....Look at the very end of his thread, I posted a link for all to download.

Sorry, I have no link for Helmi's 3.3 nor 3.5. I believe I preferred Helmi's 3.3 than 3.5 better. I could not remember as that was about 6 months ago already. I am definitely sure I did not like his 3.5 release though.
Thanks for the answers!
@aniel1: Here`s the Link for Helmis 3.5.

@cktlcmd: I guess the JWright ROM wouldn`t be the best choice for me. If it`s true, what you say about the memoryhandling. I want to use TOMTOM with the Universal, so i can finally get rid of my old PDA.
Oh, and you recommend the danish T-Mobile ROM.. Which language is used for this rom? Could be a problem since I only speak english and german I`ve already tried the austrian (original) T-Mobile ROM (Yes, I´m from Austria ^^) which hasn`t worked with my Provider too. But the Colors of this ROM are disgusting and the ROM is only AKU 2.0. (It`s working well, but the speed is quite moderate without any tweaks)
It`s sad, that you are discontent with your Universal. All in all it looks quite formidable to me. If there wasn`t the problem with my Provider. I`ve called the hotline today, and they told me, that it may have something to do with the UMTS functionality of my SIMCard. Tommorow I`ll go to the ProviderShop and change the SIMCard. I hope this will work.
P.S.: Could you tell me the difference between the RadioRoms? There are so many of them. Are they country related or are they all (essentialy) the same?

Stable ROM(s)

Hi. I have an MDA G3 running xelecin's 2.26 cooked ROM and the 2.47 radio upgrade. I've been having problems with my phone freezing.. Is this a common problem with all ROMs, or do i have an out of date ROM? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
I tried several ROMs!
Most 'home cooked ROms' had problems and issues, so, finally I decided to go with an official ROM and had no further problems!
what's the latest "official" version for the MDA G3?
What language and which network provider?

USA and T-Mobile.. i read that they don't make a WM6 ROM. I just downloaded a file called "crossbow_reloded_ver1.5.zip" Is this a ROM?
Thanks,
Yep, you will have to unzip it!
Don't be disappointed if that WM6 ROM will not work properly!
The latest official T-Mobile USA ROM is 1.26.2 and can be downloaded at the T-Mobiles homepage! It is almost the latest version. Only T-Mobile Germany has a newer WM5 (AKU3.3) available, bit since that one is in German I do not think you want that?
All available WM6 ROMs are 'user-created', either ripped off from other devices (with other hardware) or build up from a BETA which was around for a while. Most of them have software added which you might not want! Lots of them are even stripped down to get more free available memory in the MDA.
Until now I couldn't find any WM6 cooked ROM without any issues ... that is why I stick with the official one.
Beside that 'cool VISTA look' and HTML support in email (pocket outlook) I could not find any improvements from version WM5 anyway!
HTML email you can get by installing FLEXMAIL 2007 on your MDA, so, why bother and risk to end up with a brick?
I have to respectfully disagree. WHile cooked WM6 roms aren't perfect, I've been running a few now that perform for me better than any stock rom from a provider has ever worked for me. It does really depend on how much your use your phone and what all you do with it to find the right rom for you (so I finally made my own, which is the Crossbow Reloaded v1.5 you have.). I'll admit, its not perfect, but it fits my use. I'll probably be tweaking it some more in the next week or so as I continue to try to "perfect" the rom...
i haven't installed crossbow reloaded 1.5 yet.. so all it does is change the OS part? should i change my radio from the 2.47 one to that UK radio rom that's going around.. eventhough i live in the usa.. also, did you have to downgrade the ROM before upgrading?
Thanks,
-Adam

What is the latest Official ROM of TMobile?I just find 2.21 ROM in http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/download_manager_mda_vario.html.
Is this latest?
And what about 2.26 final of Molski? Is it stable? My wizard is G4 chip!
goto t-mobile.com and search for MDA ROM; 2.26 is the latest official ROM..
Where can I go to get the latest faria ROM? is it the crossbow-reloaded 1.5 ROM, or something else..? I download Molski's latest ROM (the one the the 8MB page pool).. it's the one from his website under the "latest ROM" link.. I can't figure out which to use.. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Let's try if you want to know. But if you want a stable ROM,let's use WM5 official. It's reason i want to find a latest offical ROM.2.21 is aku 2.0 ROM.So i can't restore clock on task bar.I'm using Molski 2.26 final. But it's cooked ROM.I think it can't more stable than official ROM.Is it true?
