ROM upgrade without SIM card

Hey, how are you people?
I wanted to know if I can do a ROM update without SIM card on.
I readed you can not make or receive calls while doing the ROM upgrade, so if I can, I prefer not to put the SIM on.
Thanks again!
Yes you can upgrade without the SIM card.

Unlocking HTC HD2 Sim

Hello. I have bought a HTC HD2 in Spain locked to Vodafone.
I have already installed HSPL2 and installed the portuguese offical ROM (insted of the default spanish).
However, the phone wont accepted my portuguese SIM card. What do i have to do to unlock it?
Tks
i answered your other duplicate post in the HSPL thread.
samsamuel said:
no, rom lock and sim lock are not connected. You need to either get the code from vodaphone spain, or buy an unlock code online.

heh,. dont be sorry.
No, i dont, i havent unlocked mine. I'm with O2 who have a free unlock service, BUT their 28 day service has taken 4 months so far, still no unlock code, hehe. Good job i dont need it unlocked!
There are a fair number of threads on here about sites like htcunlock.com (or whatever its called) with lots of feedback.
Put 'unlock hs2' into google, , loads of results.
I unlocked a T-Mobile USA & European HD2 here
Got codes back in under 48hrs & even contacted me to correct IMEI as I done a typo, oops ... codes worked fine & are so simple to use.
Worth noting you will need to be on WM OS to unlock the HD2, fortunately all our work HD2s are on WM OS .
you can contact your service provider

Actually you don't need to be!
I had my Tmo HD2 on Android when I put my FarEasTone SIM in. It just asked me to enter the unlock code and I did, it worked just fine.

This is a common issue, unfortunately as discussed here:
http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/windows-phone/f/90/t/1466.aspx
I am not sure if you can even do this when you are locked out this way, but try a hard reset, in this manner:
Start the phone with end key AND Both Voume-Up and Volume-Down Pressed. You should get the uption to hard reset the phone.
If not, and if you do not have HSPL, I think a warranty return is your only other option.
I think hes talking about HSPL... Said it wont even turn on. CORRECTION: HSPL AND radio.
OP, Did you try to install a new Radio on your phone?
yeah ur right
icant turn it on

but now the phone is not turning on
Guessing ur mobile is T-mobile HD2
U dont unlock it using hspl 2... I presume you need the unlock code from t-mobile after u submit your proof of buying (retail purchase).
After it accepts ur sim card (airtel, vodafone, aircel, BSNL etc etc...) then you hspl2 for using custom ROMs which u find in this forum.
I am having t-mobile hd2 and using it for 3 months in India with vodafone. No problems so far.
Good luck
Else use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668347
As im in India i cant go back now to usa to get the unlock code.
are there any other means

[Q] SIMs unreadable

Hi guys! A friend of mine got this strange and unexpected problem!
He was using the Cyanogen 7.2 stable and he screwed a little bit (don't know how really exactly) so I wiped his phone and reflashed the ROM 'cause it rocks
Before that he told me that after turned off the phone, he removed the SIM card (don't know why) and after he re-insert it and turned the phone on, the phone is no more capable to read any SIM card!
How do u suggest to proceed? I don't care what was the cause of this! I exclude a virus, at least there're free app virus-embedded in the play store!
Anyway I'd like to solve this ... what do u suggest?
Thanks in advance!

If you have not tried different SIM, then try to test the phone with a different SIM to see if the problem still exist. If no problem, then he needs a new SIM.

Attempt to reflash the radio on the N1, it could help to solve your issues

Then consider your N1 as a tablet, a very, very small tablet . Or you could send it into repair with HTC and get the motherboard changed
