My ancient SE P910i could have an increasing ring with vibrate, I've noticed my TyTN can't do that. Anyone know of any way that this can be acheived? Registry hack, small app or otherwise?
See if this helps. Courtesy of Wiki here...
Change ringtone/vibrate/LED flash characteristics
If you would like more control over how your device rings/vibrates/flashes its LEDs on events, you can can change the Script values of these events.
For example, for an incoming call performing 'activate device, play ringtone, wait 3 seconds, repeat':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "apw3r" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
For performing 'active device, set volume to 33%, play ringtone, set volume to 67%, play ringtone, set volume to 100%, play ringtone (no repeat)':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "ac33pc67pc100p" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
The following are the full codes available to you. Please note that all the codes are executed simultaneously except after a ringtone play / wait code. E.g. 'v1p' will vibrate and play at the same time, while vibrating for 1 second. But 'pv1' will play the ringtone through all the way first, then start vibrating for 1 second.
a = activate device
cN = set volume to N in percentage max volume
fN = flash notification LED for N seconds
p = play ringtone. Note that this will play the ringtone all the way through before continuing with the next code.
r = repeat. Note that this should be the last code in your Script string, if used at all.
vN = vibrate for N seconds
wN = wait for N seconds. Note that the device will wait this long before continuing with the next code.
Thanks mgmchan, but that looks damn complicated for an accountant
Nay, you can find this forum, post on this forum, you won't have any problem doing that.
1. Find a registry editor. Resco should be a good choice.
2. Once you run the editor, those HKCU\ControPanel\... etc will become very obvious to you. May be that sample string "ac33p..." suits your need already.
Have fun.
it's not complicated at all - the problem is that many (if not all) profile changers will modify this script without the option for you to provide a custom script of your own - quite frustrating
Okay I read how this is done but what I am confused by is that there is only a single setting called 'Ringtone0' in the registry.
I would like to make it so when i receive an email or txt that it vibrates for 1 sec only, but when I receive a phone call it vibrates and plays the ringtone. Is this even possible?
Actually what I would really prefer would be the settings above but the the vibrate for 1sec only applies when I have the phone on 'vibrate' mode. When on volume up mode it vibrates longer while playing the ringtone
Sorry if thats confusing. I wass hoping there would be multiple profiles I could code, unless im missing something.
Thanks
anyone? i couldnt seem to get it to work
Have you tried these settings?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1357059&postcount=4
Mike
yes I used 'av1'
However I still dont understand, will this 'profile' of av1 go for all 3 modes (ie volume up, vibrate, and silent)?
I was expected a Ringtone0, Ringtone1, Ringtone2, etc and then I would somehow assign like Ringtone0 to be when the vol is up, #2 would be on vibrate, etc. What am I missing here??
Also to go back to the top, I made it to av1 and soft reset. On volume up, I got a txt and the vibrate still went off for like 7sec (default)
I too attempted this hack. I noticed the settings return to the original default of apw3r. I made the change and did not restart, then I changed it and soft booted, and then changed it and powered off. Everytime it returned to the default.
I just attempted to add 1 sec of vibrate on ring. v1
Any ideas on how to get the changes to stick or make it work?
These are the instructions I used:

I thought creating a thread that shows the various registry hacks might be helpful/useful/contructive/destructive.
I am still pretty new to all of this and would love to know what others have discovered to get 'more' from our PPCs.
Thanks in advance for the contributions!
I am using PHM Registry for my editor.

Unlocking/Unhidding the extended_rom
\HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV \
then change the value (default at 1) to 0
Wait at least a minute before doing a soft reset.

Get rid of the voicemal icon on the '1' key (3.16+)
The 3.16 rom has added an voicemail icon to '1' key which also caused my skin to look messed up. You can disable it:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunctio n\CDMA\
set the DWORD value
"EnableVoicemailIcon" = "0"
by default it is set to 1.

Quietestincallvolume = the same but for when you turn it all the way down
Networkdrop = the dropped call /w lost signal sound
Calldrop = caller hangs up before you do sound
---------------------------------------------------
18-Change ringtone/vibrate/LED flash characteristics
But 'pv1' will play the ringtone through all the way first, then start vibrating for 1 second.
a = activate device
cN = set volume to N in percentage max volume
fN = flash notification LED for N seconds
p = play ringtone. Note that this will play the ringtone all the way through before continuing with the next code.
r = repeat. Note that this should be the last code in your Script string, if used at all.
vN = vibrate for N seconds
wN = wait for N seconds. Note that the device will wait this long before continuing with the next code.
NOTE: I tried this on my 6800 and changed the v0 to v1 and now it doesn't have just one long vibrate. v0 sets it to vibrate always.
-----------------------------------------------------
19-FIX THE SLOW RINGER
To do this, you will need your MSL, which only Sprint (or your provider) can provide you. Open up the phone app and dial ##778# (PST). You will be asked to enter your MSL. Enter it, and you will be brought into the provisioning of your phone. From the top left, select Modem Settings. On this page, your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is how often your phone polls the tower for incoming calls, etc. This value is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2^value (i.e 0=1.28 secs, 1=2.56secs) with 0 fastest, 7 slowest. The default is 2, but lowering it to 1 hasn't noticeably affected my battery life, and roughly 2.5 second (SCI 1) response time is far more reasonable than roughly 5 seconds (SCI 2)
-----------------------------------------------------
20-Change scroll bar size
Navigate to HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\ and tweak the following values.
cyHScr : Horizontal Scrollbars Height in pixels (default is 13)
cxVScr : Vertical Scrollbars Width in pixels (default is 13)
-----------------------------------------------------
21-Save Attachments or the Whole Email on your SD Card
The Key in WM6 changed from WM5. In WM6 it is:
HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings
For Attachments add "AttachPath" value="\Storage Card\Inbox\Attachments" datatype="string"
For the rest of the email add "PropertyPath" value="\Storage Card\Inbox" datatype="string"
For the paths above to work, you need to have the Inbox folder and Attachments subfolder created already. You must reboot for them to take effect.
-------------------------------------------------------
22-add the AM/PM to your time in the title bar
To Add AM or PM
1) Open your registry editor (either PHM Registry Editor or Resco Explorer 2003).
2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides
3) Create 1st String Value: Name = S1159 & String = Am
4) Create 2nd String Value: Name = S2359 & String = Pm
5) Create 3rd String Value: Name = STFmt & String = hh:mm t'M'
6) Soft-reset
There has to be a space after the am or pm otherwise it will not display
Also
am=aM pm=pM
Am=AM Pm=PM
--------------------------------------------------------
23-Changing SoftKeys
Create the following keys and Strings in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 3
112 is the left key and 113 is the right.
Set Default to what you want the key to read (ie. SMS)
Now for each key create a new string named Open and set the target path.
--------------------------------------------------------
24-This edit allows you to see the duration of your Vision connection along with a button to disconnect it.
You see it in the bubble that is displayed when you tap the Vision icon.
Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click ControlPanel
Click Phone
[at this point, the buttom grey status bar should read \HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone'
Click the bottom menu 'edit'
Select new dword value
Change the value name to "Flags2" (no quotes).
Select the 'hexidecimal' button.
Type 10
Click ok.
You should now see in the 'name/data' section:
Flags2 16 (0x00010)
When done, reset the device.

Great hacks. Thanks for your contribution.
big list of em over here.
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Tweaks+and+Hacks?t=anon
im usually not one to mess up my phone (ie im usually very cautious, dont play with what i shouldnt) but i wouldnt touch that ringtone modifying hack. i just tried it, hoping to set the ringtone more like it was on an old razr of mine (4vibes and a break) and it really messed up the phone application. like it wouldnt open. even after multiple restarts, everything. after i called my phone from another one, the phone app opened, thankfully, and then it started working but gave me quite a scare before that
EDIT- nope, that didnt fix it either. even after calling from another phone, once my 6800 is restarted, the phone app wont work again. god this will be the 4th hard reset this week. lame.
Duration of the rington
Has anyone an idea if it is possible to say the phone how long the ringtone should play till the phone hangs up and went into mailbox.
I mean is it possilbe to set the duration to eg. 30 sec or more till it hangs up.
I know there is a hack to stop ActiveSync from starting automatically but I can't find it. Searched here and PDAphonehome. Anyone have it?
Hey guys, I'm an active user on the Wing forums. I was wondering if there is such a reg edit to save SMS to the SD card instead of on the phone? Thanks for any details!

Hi everbody!
On my Touch2 I would like to change vibrating type. I am using "vibrate + ring" call notification but the phone vibrates "unusually" long. It vibrates for 5 seconds, then pause for 2 seconds, and again and again...
Is it possible to change this so that it would only vibrate for (configurable!) 2 seconds on "one turn"?
Installing some other software should be the final resort; it would be perfect if I could just change some registry settings (but which?). Ok, actually that would be good - perfect would be if the WM would already have some user interface for that...
Regards, Bostjan
You can use
1- VAlert (But it ruins your volume keys)
2- Vibro
3- PhoneAlarm (Great App.)
Thanks for your answer - but I would first try to solve this issue without installing other applications if that is even possible.
Do you know the how to do that within windows registry?
Regards, Bostjan
Found this after some searching....you need to change registry... always back-up before you make changes. And do soft reset to make your changes active.
Change ringtone/vibrate/LED flash characteristics
If you would like more control over how your device rings/vibrates/flashes its LEDs on events, you can can change the Script values of these events. For example, for an incoming call performing 'activate device, play ringtone, wait 3 seconds, repeat':

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "ac33pc67pc100p" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)To have the device 'Vibrate and Ring' simultaneously:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "av0pw3r" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)The following are the full codes available to you. Please note that all the codes are executed simultaneously except after a ringtone play / wait code. E.g. 'v1p' will vibrate and play at the same time, while vibrating for 1 second. But 'pv1' will play the ringtone through all the way first, then start vibrating for 1 second.
a = activate device
cN = set volume to N in percentage max volume
fN = flash notification LED for N seconds
p = play ringtone. Note that this will play the ringtone all the way through before continuing with the next code.
r = repeat. Note that this should be the last code in your Script string, if used at all.
vN = vibrate for N seconds
wN = wait for N seconds. Note that the device will wait this long before continuing with the next code.
This is awsom and works for me perfectly...
If I will find some issues will let you guys know!
Thank you for your support!

See link below. That vibrates (ooops, I would say "sounds") as a solution.
