Hi all,
A friend of mine is looking for a program that can password protect his minisd memory card. Something that would ask for a password when you try to access it.
Have any of you seen a program that can do this? Thanks.

you have not provide enough information for a good suggestion.. chances are, this wont fit your bill.
WM6 has a storage card encryption function where things within this card cannot be access by other means. If you lock (add password to) your phone, the information is, theoratically in accessible.

You are right. I should have provided more info. My friend is having a problem with his younger brother going in this phone and messing with things in his minisd when he is not around his phone.
I believe that the memory encryption will not help him in this case. Thanks.
im quite a newbie to the wizard myself but from what you have said your friend has 3 possible solutions to his problem.
1: keep his wizard on him at all times.
2: use the password facility in windows mobile and leave his wizard switched off.
3: break the little s**ts fingers and tell him to leave it alone.

I'm new to all this and a bit confused. I have an O2 XDA Mini S and need it unlocked to all networks and if possible all the O2 stuff removing from it and I want turn it into a bog standard HTC Wizard.
Is any of this possible?
I have been told by HTC that they do not have and BIOS upgrades available for any of there phones and these all come from the rebranding companies such as O2 and QTEK etc.
I know this has probably been covered a million times on this forum but I must be a little stupid or either it's too technical for me as I can't find it in clear black and white Could someone please clarify all this for me and assure me it will work without too mnuch trouble and with little risk of putting the PDA into an UNRECOVERABLE state and point me towards:
a) The exe files and/or program I need to run to do it
b) A set of step by step idiot instructions for me to follow

As far as changing the software read through the threads in the upgradeing section. All the information is there and some very good 'ROMs' put together by people who put a lot of time into helping others.

OK I've just run the unlock tool and seems to have gone smoothly. I've put my Vodafone SIM in the phone, it finds Vodafone...but I cant call it and I cant make calls out
Any one have any thoughs please?
What's going on here if it recognises the SIM and connets to a Vodafone Cell, surely it should then be functional....or not?

If its a pay as you talk chip its out of credit or credit period, phone the network to reactivate.
If its contract it sounds as if the chip needs to be activated again phone the network.

it didnt work on my xda mini s it just restarted and it still didnt get any signal

Hi, I'm Chris from Malta and I just got my White HTC G1.
I'm still getting to use it and to its million functions and would any help from others who have the same mobile. I
have 2 major problems at the moment :
1) I can't access the numbers saved on my sim card, anyone knows if there is any setting ?
2) I can't connect with other users throuh bluetooth, they told me there is a setting but can't find it !! Any help would be appreciated.
All the software that you installed and other that u didnt etc.
Any Upgrades available ?

1) Goto your contacts and hit the Menu button. There will be an option for importing your SIM card data.
2) At your desktop screen press Menu then go into Settings. Everything for Bluetooth is under the Wireless Controls.
Honestly the first thing I did was I rooted my phone. It's a simple process just follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480
Reason I did that is because I wanted to install apps to my SDcard, give me access to themes, and give me the ability to tether my 3G connection to my laptop via wifi so I can play games like World of Warcraft on the go.
As for apps its up to you what you find useful. Personally I like Advanced Taskmanager (if you can't buy it I'm sure you can find the free version "Taskmanager for Root Users" somewhere but keep in mind you need a root'd phone for it), SnapPhoto (free version), ShopSavvy, Last.fm, Twidroid, and Locale.

Bluetooth on the G1 is still a work in progress. Only two profiles are supported currently. Headset and handsfree. You will probably have to wait for google to send out an update before you can connect to other peoples phones over bluetooth.
Memory card
I'm trying to put music on my memory card inputted on the G1 but after putting the usb cable in its telling me to insert a disk into drive G when the memory card is already inside !!!
Can you help me please ?

not really about the subject but i just wanted to point out i'm from Gudja, i got my dev phone last December and i switched to Melita on the 6th February, I wanted to ask chris : How has it been with GO? did you get a monthly plan? and was the phone unlocked when you bought it?

Hi Digirhino, I'm with go on a pay as you go service. Got the phone locked, unlocked it through a code from the seller and the rest all ok.
Wanted to ask if its possible to install programs windows based such as MSN messanger etc on the android ???
Also is there any program that add time Hrs Minutes Seconds that works on the Android ?

My Universal is an xda exec, i bought it (second hand) and it would sometimes work with a 3 sim card and sometimes not. I tried and failed to put a new rom on it so had to ask my brother to fix it. He did and put an old 6.1 version on it. This rom would reconise my 3sim straight away no problems.
I have now upgraded to tomal 8.something and its back to not reconising the 3sim. I had it working last night with the free sim after randomly changing settings. I then installed a media streamer because tomal doesnt come with 1(strange by the way) but yotube no longer gave me the option to 'play' the video.
How do I get the this to work with my 3 sim card?
Are there a setof instructions I should follow in a certain order? before i just played with them randomly constantly swopping backwards and forth between my 02 and 3 sim untill it reconised it, which seemingly by itself it would.... but now it wont.
Is there a program or app I can store on my SD card for the next time I have to hard reset?
I know it works with 3 because the other rom did and both the original and this 1 does when it wants to. Now I am having to use my old crappy sony ericsson and I hate it. Help me out please people, for this I promise given the program or correct instructions order I will donate.

I want to know some things about Mobile Phone, I hope You understand this question and I'll get replies.actually, my friend has found a new Grand 2 Mobile phone still packed in box on road, I know it seems weird but "its true", and He tried to search the owner of the Phone but he got no clue, that is just a Grand 2 packed nothing else, no bill, no address, nothing, and he is little nervous that's why he doesn't want to inform about this to some P.Station (you know India Polise), so he decided to start using this device, but before that he wants to clear some things, he doesnt want to be in a some kind of mess, so please reply,
1.If we don't put sim card in Mobile, and keep the device off removing the battery, then Are Mobile Operator or Mobile Manufacture able to trace the Mobile or not?
2.Is it possible to change the IMEI number of the Mobile, If yes then Can you tell me How? or tell me the link on web?
3.Because Nothing is set up on phone till now, as I told this is packed, if we put sim card in Mobile is there any possibility by which the mobile can be traced?
4. If he only use this device as a media player, then what are the chances of something went wrong?
P.S : He found this device ten days ago, and he tried to search the person who bought this from the nearby sellers(actually he found it on very busy road), but found nothing.

There is a method to change the IMEI.
However, it is illegal in North America and many other countries.
I'm sorry I can't give you a link as this is illegal in the States, but keep looking around.
It's probably legal in India (a big country with the world's second biggest population ... who can trace you anyway?)
If you operate the device without a SIM card (airplane mode) or any form of Internet communication, no one is able to trace you, unless it is the CIA.
hello all, i have a friend that her son passed 2 years ago. she has his old phone and wants to see if there are any video's or photo's of him on it. but the phone is pin locked. we dont know if he had a microsoft accout,either. i came across WPInternals. would this allow her to get what she needs off the phone? im not finding much about how to help her accomplish this. any ideas? thanx everyone...
That is for unlocking the bootloader.
Bypassing the pin is another thing altogether, we cant help you.
This can be legit or it could be an unauthorised attempt into breaking into someone else phone, so in the name of privacy, I can't help you.
You could try to get the files through the tool idk.
