Anyone have iGuidance?
nokia's smart2go
it's free
download the maps for your country, sort of similar to google maps, only not as good
Is there another map software that you can download maps for and use it directly? For example, maps of two states, so you can drive from one point to another without GPS/WiFi.

But the point is i need a map software that i can use without internet. California or San Jose Map would be great. My phone is htc 8525 wm6 rom RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3_1_.57.502.1_6275_1.48.00.00_108-ATT-MR3_Ship.
thank you very much
Look into iGO8 or Tomtom7. Both do what you would like at the expense of a one time cost of buying it. You can also use Google Downloader to download maps and then load them to Google Maps.
Can you explain more about "using google downloader to download maps and then load them to goofle maps". thank you
PANav is a Java application for MobilePhones (J2ME: MIDP 2.0/CLDC 1.0). It run well on your XDA with Jbed (see attached pictures). PANav can help people finding the best way to anywhere they want. With advanced GPS features and voice-prompted directions, they’ll always know exactly where their next turn is. In the early version PANav show only map of Hanoi (Vietnam) but it can be extended in the next version.
Current version is 1.2107 (PANavEngLite1.2107)
Also It can be run on BlackBerry (PANavLiteBB1.1230).

Thanks much!

we convert map from ESRI shape files (*.shp) so if you have Europe maps (or any maps , pls send to us and we will convert to .map for PANav.
Now in this version we do not use any internet access for the map, the map is stored in the app.
Thank calvin42 for your comment!
Well, Calvin talked about Openstreetmaps, a free (like free speech, but also like free beer) maping of the entire world.
Maps from England, Germany, and Netherlands are quite complete and usable. Other european countries are on the way.
USA and India are quite complete too.
Have a look at http://www.openstreetmap.org , it would be great to see our work (i'm a contributer) used by a good turn-to-turn app.
yes, i know about openstreetmap but PANav do not use any internet connection (wifi/wimax/gprs/3G...) to get the map. The map is offline mode, inside the app.

maybe, we will use openstreetmaps to extract and convert maps to use with PANav.
Hi All,
Does anyone know of an application like google maps that allows you to download a complete country map to your device? In my case Australia. I used to have an N95 8GB and Nokia Maps allowed me to download the entire map of Australia to my phone so I could use it offline. I would like to do this on my HD. I have google maps installed and it is perfect apart from the fact the it must have a data connection to work. I know it can cache maps but I am not interested in that, I want mapping on the fly. I also have TOMTOM installed but it's maps lack detail and the ability to browse around a map is very poor.
If anyone knows of a solution please let me know.
Cheers
Craig

What is the best software to use that doesnt require cell service. Including map updates.
I use copilot live 8...
$30.00...and it does not need a data signal as the maps are stored on your SD card.
For updates, im sure you can hook up to a wifi signal...or, you can download the Copilot Desktop application and sync maps/voices/updates to your phone that way.
I do have Copilot Live 8 also, so far it's great and the graphics are nicely with turn by turn navigation.
iGO 8 and TomTom
iGO8 have the option of installing individual city map! save alot of space TT have to put the whole NA map on it .. yikes!
I use GARMIN LOVE IT
I also use Garmin, love the lack of subscription needed to do internet searches for nearby places, unlike most of the others. So, you never have to worry about the locations being out of date.
Does Garmin running well with HD2 ? i had Garmin XT on my Satio (yes i still love that phone ) and it do the recalculating alot, with tomtom,Sygic they are fine no recalculation. Therefore, i dont want to put Garmin on my HD2
are any of these gps's free?

MS' Bing app (which is free) now has turn-by-turn GPS nav, but it requires cell data service.

I use Navicomputer on my Tytn II, but it seems to also work on the HTC HD2 too (according to other people posting). Navicomputer uses the Open Street Maps and can do this online or you can download them and use it when there is no connection (I do this when I travel outside the US).

You can't do a search for an address when in Offline Mode. Can you?
I tried NaviComputer, and looks like its only good for looking at where you are in the map and not for it to tell you where you should go. And ofcourse for tracking your hiking trail (which it is meant for).
Hello, is there an offline navigation map for the Titan because I don't have a data plan and need one that has maps of the US, or at least eastern US with voice navigation. Is there any software for this?
Thanks
I use NaviComputer with a map I downloaded using their tool. While the maps I got include small streets it doesn't display their name. If anyone finds a way to display their names let me know.
