I've got a XDA Mini S... downloaded and installed a Java game earlier today, World Series Of Poker from a Nokia website earlier. Installed and loaded fine but couldn't actually use the game as it would not select anything.
Touchscreen didn't work, the soft keys... joystick thingy... on board keyboard... on screen keyboard... NOTHING!!
How do you play Java games, or can you?
Help me please!! I've been trawling the site using the search function but can't seem to find a solution?
From what I have found, some games work because they are designed for our phones or are generic, and some are designed specifically for other phones, and thus, do not work on our Wizards. Generally, all you have to do to play a game is download the jar and jad files, go to the midlet manager and install, and then select. If it does not load from there, the game probably just will not work on the wizard. I have had the same problem for other java games.
most of the games i've seen work, however suck, because we do not have dial pads.
Well they install... and the load. Just can't play them, I'm presuming this is because we haven't got a numeric keypad?
Is there no way of playing Java Games whatsoever?
Java Games AEKMap
I've posted these somewhere before, but I couldn't find them so I'll post them again
These layouts are for a program called AEKMap (Google it).
They will allow you to play java games on the Wizard keyboard
and how do you install this wizard layout ??

as object....I think i have to use a java machine emulator....but how do?THANKS  SO MUCH
Probably not. The S60 game will likely use the keypad, something you don't have on the Jam.
i know the keypad problem...but i think that some games can be played...anyone know how to run with a virtual java machine emulator?
What about the preinstalled midlet manager?
i have tried but works only some java apps, game -----nothing :x
I cannot find any java file that works on my JAM
Every Java file I install, I get a "Failed to run midlet"
Can you link me to an example that works?
Thanks
I had a test of quite a few games some time ago.
The discussion can be found here
Basically from what I found, some games work, other don't. That's about the best help I can offer
I just bought my MDA not too long ago and I'm longing for some free games, RPG's, shooters, puzzles, whatever you can find. I've found a few, and I'm willing to share @ [email protected] if you can do the same. Please, I'm a lonely nerd in need of entertainment.

That's my favourite so far, X-Com for the PDA. When I tried to use it from the PDS only cab files it crashed a lot, but intalling it via the PC seems fine. Also see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=50806
all sorts of great free games...
my favorites though are Pocket nester (NES Emulator)
then visit theoldcomputer.com...nothing more fun than sitting down playing some mario or Kirby or any old nintendo game
try Freewareppc.com, pocketpcfreewares.com, and pdagold.com...they have a bunch of free games there. I also have been playing alot of Wolfenstein...I found that on @ pdagold. you can play the first 9 levels free and then you have to actually own the next stories to play those.
Howdy,
Which version of PocketNester should we use on the Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard)?
On SourceForge, there are two in the download section:
pn07_arm_ppc.zip and pn07_ppc2002.zip
I've tried the pn07_arm_ppc.zip one and it loads, but none of my button assignments function. I've tried assigning the d-pad and phone keys and the pull out keyboard keys.
None of the keys appear to work.
Pocket Nes
I use this program for my NES emulation. The keys don't save, meaning everything you quit the program and start it up again, it you have to map the keys, but it works great. Hopefully you can use it.
I've installed some Java games meant for "regular" mobile phones on my Dopod 838 Pro. I am able to run them via the Midlet manager. The keys to be used to play the games all work fine except for the softkeys. There are usually commands or options to select using softkeys.
Nothing happens when I press any of the two softkeys. Does anyone know how to get the softkeys to work with these java games or at least to use some other keys/buttons to replace them?
Thanks for any tips.
Recently I have been trying to get a GBA emulator on my TD2. I've searched about it and found some recommended GBA emulators. I tried some of them, but for some reasons, they don't work on my TD2.
The emulators and the problems are as follows:
1.Morphgear
-It can't run certain roms due to insufficient of memory.
-If it can run the roms, the game screen and the controller turn out to be REALLY small.
2.PocketGBA
-A d-pad is needed to play the games but TD2 doesn't have one and so far there is no virtual d-pad for PocketGBA.
It runs smoothly. All I need is a d-pad!!!
3.GBACE
-It can't load ('see') any roms though I have already installed the tgetfile.dll file.
I'm confused whether it's an April's Fool joke...
Does anyone have the same problem?
Can anyone solve any of the problems?
Or is there a working GBA emulator other than those I mentioned?
I hope there will be a way.
Thanks for any reply.
I use MorphGear on my TD2. You can download other controllers from the developer website (I use "Gameboy Advance OSX". It's simple with wide buttons). Then you can resize it to WVGA with any paintingprogram and copy it to the Games/Morphgear/Skins folder. Now the controller should use 1/3 of the screen.
In the settings under Display > Sreen size choose "Auto Scale" and the game fill the other 2/3.
Hope I could help.
Thanks for the reply
Now the game screen is much bigger
But can you tell me how to resize the buttons to WVGA?
I don't quite understand... I'm so noobie with this.
How to?
I can't get on my HTC Diamond 2, I get error 355. When I install with cab I don't get anything... Can some one just post theirs so I can just put it on..
Do you have the description of error 355??
I can't post my cab because I think it has some problems too!
There is always a 'memory insufficient' error and it lags a lot...
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I used the search and google and have come up empty on this subject.
Is there an MAME emulator that is capable of running on the TP2?
I installed MAMECE3 and Pocketcult Mame, but neither work properly on the TP2 because it lacks hardware keys and is not able to remap them to the keyboard.
Has anyone been able to get MAME to work?
Those emulators haven't seen much in the way of updates for a few years now, and even then, on the Tilt/Kaiser, they ran pretty badly. It's going to be a while before anyone has a definitive way to provide inputs for portrait orientation games in general, but even more so for a MAME emulator.
Perhaps this can work:

Not sure about VGA - WVGA compatibility...
If you really want to get it working and have an extra $50 to blow, you can get a Zeemote Bluetooth joystick for $40 and this driver for $10. I just got mine yesterday and so far I've got it working great with Pocket Cult MAME 0.5, Pocket VCS, and Morphgear.
Unfortunately, most of the roms I've tried for PC MAME haven't worked. Here's my list of working games so far, but I'm still testing more of them as I go:
1941
1942
Alien Syndrome
Bad Dudes
Gondomania
Gyruss
Karnov
Klax
Popeye (bootleg)
Rampage
Rastan
Robocop
Rygar
Section Z
Sidearms
Time Pilot 84
Trojan
Xenophobe
Yie Ar Kung Fu
