Hi guys
I was just wondering what size memory cards you guys use for your trinit(ys)(ies?)
I have a 1GB microSD in a miniSD adapter and I'm considering getting a 2GB, but will I need it?
I'm currently using the 1GB for TomTom and a few mp3 ringtones. Will I need the 2GB? What do you guys put on your cards?
if you want a big pr0n collection you do!
well that or if you listen to music on your device
and have many big programs and or games
and maybe a tv series or 2
if not 640kb is enough for everybody

I am perhaps hours from buying HTC Tytn..and from what I can see maximum size you can buy is 2 gig. Compared to my pocket pc (which had an sd and cf slot), I can put up to 4gig cards in its slot. I am going to really miss having a bigger capacity for extra programs, and memory for files. If they do come out with a larger Micro SD,, lets say eventually 4gig for example, do you think that all it would take to be able to adopt this new size would be to to a ROM upgrade (update) or is it written in stone that the max on this unit is 2 gigs.
Thx for any input, and especially any enlightenement in regards to larger micro sd's that are on the horizon.

AFAIK there is no 2Gig limit and 4 gig would be OK, but lets here from others.

4GB is coming soon.. but will it work?
http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/18/kingmax-busts-out-worlds-first-4gb-microsdhc-card/
Anyone know if that will work on a hermes device?
Is MicroSDhc a different incompatible standard?
I dont think wm device do support sdhc system so we are limited to 2 gb or at maximum 4gb but no sdhc....
i will be more then happy if anyone can prove me wrong...
PS:just a note somewhere i read that the maximum possible capacity for micro sd is 32gb but im not sure is it obtainable with sd 2.0 specification (sdhc) or with standard sd 1.1 specification....??
SDHC cards don't work in normal SD slots, like the Hermes has one. There is hope for non SDHC 4GB MicroSD cards though, because there have been 4GB SD cards and now also 4GB Mini SD cards available, that are non SDHC compliant and work in standard Pocket PCs. So let's hope for non SDHC 4GB MicroSD that will work in our Hermes.

That's where th iphone looks good. Damn... 8Gb !
I am currently running Helmi's 3.5 ROM version 1.3.1
Which Transcend 4 GB SD Card actually works on the Universal? There are too many types now.
I know the NEW SDHC is NOT COMPATIBLE. So which of these two types:
1st: Transcend 4GB Secure Digital Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...o=2844046&SRCCODE=WEBMSNACFLASH&CMP=KNC-MSNAC
2nd: Transcend 4GB 150X Secure Digital Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2315930&CatId=2412
I use with my Universal the second one. It will work with your phone.
Uhm, all two work well, coz 150X doesnt matter, Ur fone won't use up to that speed. But it costs much.
Thanks for the response guys. I keep running out of space on my 2GB SD Card. I started using it to store my favorite music collections, so I don't have to keep changing cards if I want to listen to music.
Any more comments as to what you guys use?
i use the 150x one. it works perfectly.
and the 150x helps you copy things much faster.
I have the 150x Transcend 4Gb and gotta say, it's loverly.
As Dao007forever says, your phone will never use that speed, but I copy large .avi files over using a card reader on my pc and it's lightning fast for that.
Great little card. And personally, I think it's worth the extra bucks for peace of mind that it's a quality product.
can i just point you all to this patch :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344338
if you didn't know, the newer devices can use High Capacity SD storage cards from 2Gb up to 8Gb (as far as i know, the microSDHC go up to 8Gb just now, i hear 32Gb is possible but not currently available...)
this patch will allow your older devices to use the high cap storage cards, so you are no longer limited to 2Gb storage, great for sticking all your tunes and videos on the card!
time to throw away those crappy old mp3 players!
Does High Capacity Memory Cards slows down the device?
Below is a thread where some people are saying that it does slows down.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=491523
But, earlier some users said that it is just an incorrect thinking.
Experts, clear this out...
Thanks
If you want a clear answer: NO
Does High Capacity Memory Cards slows down the device?
My answer is NO...I am using a 4GB card for P3400i from 6 months without any problem
Never heard this.
why do u need more than 2GB
hi
i realy dont get it why would u need more than 2GB i have put so many cabs music and a lot of stuff most of which i really don't use much and i seem to have just reached 1GB why do u need some thing more than Max 4GB can some one explain this is just for my info that's all
@Hari: dude you have no idea about it? Lemme give you some examples:
Songs!
Video Clips
Full length movies converted to 3gp (1 takes about 120 MB)
Big software (ex Wordnet dictionary that i use is 60 MB in size, and my total software installation is about 360 MB )
Games (TOmb Raider and Some other 3D games take around 80 MB on my card.)
Ebooks and Word Excel documents.
Email Attachments
pdf books
A lot of photos, 2MP photos take a lot of space.
And this is just what i use, other would surely have many different things i am sure. My 2 GB card is full, and i have intentionally left many of the things that i need just to keep 100 MB free. I will buy a 4 GB card soon but the prices are very high right now
ok got it
hi
thanks i got it lets say its a individual user issue as i dont play game and load videos may be 2GB is ok but for kids like U may be u would need 4 or 8gb

I have more than 2.5 GB of songs and 1 GB of videos. Regretting why I bought only 4 GB Card . Running out of space .
BTW Ido not use 3 GP format for videos, prefer tmpgenc, which reduces size considerably but quality is awsome.
@krazy: I think u can get 4 gb for abt 450/-.
Members, the question is:
Does High Capacity Memory Cards slows down the device?
and not that how you fill up your space.

^^ and the same has been answered, I presume?
Whats the biggest memory card the x10 will support? Currently got 8gb, would 16gb be ok too? Does it support upto 32gb?
I readed that our x10 support 32giga micro sd card,my phone came with a 16 giga card...
32Gb will work, but u cant format it in the Phone, u must do it with a PC!
I don't find that as a problem, as long as the phone has the ability to handle 32 gb cards, then its ok. I just had a glimpse of the sheer amount of videos and music I will put into this baby!!
