Messenger - P3600 General

hi, i just noticed this problem, but when im not connected to wifi, and i press Messenger, it automatically signs me in. when i try to cancel signing in, and press the little "x" at the top right, it closes, and then reopens and attempts to log onto messenger by itself. this problem keeps persisting, and i am not sure how to close it properly. It happens if im connected, and when im not connected. did anyone notice the same problem? can anyone help me out? probably when i clear my password this wouldnt happen, but i dont want to have to keep entering my password everytime i want to sign on..

Screen keeps turning on

Hi guys
I'm pretty sure I've seen a post about this before, but whatever I search for I can't find it now... typical! lol!
For the past week or so, every time I turn the screen off on my Wizard, a few seconds later it turns itself back on for no apparent reason... it then times out and turns off again only to wake itself back up a few seconds later.
If i leave it, it seems it will do this forever and it means my battery is getting drained very quickly... this has only happened recently and I haven't installed any new software recently so I'm not sure what's caused it...
One possible pointer is that if I run "Check Notifications" to remove duplicate alarm events the problem is cured, but also all my alarms (set in clock) stop working unless i go in turn them off and then turn them back on again... but this causes the problem to appear again!
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated since at the moment i'm having to charge every day
Cheers

I am not 100% sure but it may be some app is starting up your phone. Have you used the 'Activesync Workaround' -- Activesync likes to start itself up even if you are not connected via USB so this may be a cause?
to prevent Activesync from starting up periodically do the following:
Open Activesync on your PPC
Menu>Add Server Source...
Type a bogus server address. Next fill in the fields with anything. Finish.
Menu>Schedule...
Sync during... [change both peak and off peak] to Manually. Ok.
Really Close Activesync [not minimize] then start it up again.
Menu> Options > Delete the BOGUS SERVER you made.

Click to collapse
If the problem persists try checking your apps some of them may be requesting for your device to startup.

Windows live Messenger (MSN) crashed leo after long periods of being signed in

Does anyone else have this issue?
Im pretty sure its MSN causing the problem.
I leave mine signed into MSN pretty much all the time. And I find somewhere between 6 - 12 hours my leo seems to crash.
Somtimes the screen lock will come on, I can slide the slider and put in my Pin but it says the pin is wrong (even though Im 100% sure I've put the correct pin in). Eventually the pin will lock out and ask me to enter a code at this point it seems apparant that my key inputs are not actually going anywhere and so my phone thinks Im putting in a blank pin.
Othertimes (and this is usually what happens) I press the on button and all I get is the keys light up but the screen never comes on.
Only way round it is to pull the battery or soft reset and all is fine again.
Im gonna run it for the next day or so without msn signed in to see if it still happens, and also with pin removed to see if that has any effect.
I guess maybe no one else leaves their messenger signed in?
Anyways to update. I've installed palringo and stopped using the default windows live messenger app and so far its been fine. Looks like its defo an issue with messenger.

I leave messenger signed in for most of the day at work, while the phone is on my desk charging via the PC, and I've never had reason to think it's doing anything it shouldn't.
The other things you mention are already posted on here though.
I don't use a PIN for my lock screen, so I never have the "incorrect number" issue, but it's a known windows issue. Other users are saying that they've had this for as long as they've had windows mobile phones, so it looks like you might be stuck with it for now. You could try some of the lock alternatives. Maybe ThrottleLock might help?
I've had the phone not activate when I press the buttons too. There's a thread about that somewhere on here.
If using Palringo instead of messenger really does solve your problems, you may make a lot of people on here very happy with you

Mobile Data Turned off.... Box Pops Up!

Whenever I turn on or reboot, a box comes up, "Mobile Data" telling me what I already know, "Mobile data connection is currently disabled. You need to connect Mobile data to use data applications, such as Browser, Email, and You Tube via Mobile network. Do you want to make the connection?"
This box appears with or without sim card, WiFi on or off, but whenever I boot or reboot. The only time the box doesn't come up, is when mobile data is on, which you can't do, without having the sim card installed.
To eliminate box on boot, leave sim card inserted with mobile data on. I have a Samsung Note, same conditions, there has never been a box pop up at boot or reboot. Easy to click cancel button go move on, but box is irritating, so would like to make it simply go away when device is booted!
No One?
No one has experienced this on their P6800?
I get the same thing - SIM card inserted but data turned off, receive a popup when booting.
It's only one tap to dismiss, and how often are you rebooting anyway! Mildly annoying, but not a big issue for me...
Agree
Not a big deal, yet same setup for Tab's little brother, the Note, and no box. Perhaps the difference between Gingerbread 2.3.6 and Honeycomb 3.2. It still would be nice to not have that box pop up whenever booting/rebooting.

I am not rooted. But I also get this dialog. I would love to disable it.
Anyone figure this out yet? Extremely annoying, especially when using honeybar.
I also have it, but since I'm so used to it, my fingers automatically hit cancel lol yep, I would like to disable this as well specially when using honeybar

[Q] Security PIN turning to password and locking me out

This issue has been addressed and no actual cause has been determined.
My pin lock pad which I usually use is replaced by a keyboard for no reason and my pin doesn't work anymore.
it keeps asking me for a password and after every 5 attempts I get a 30 seconds countdown.
To add insult to injury trying to restart the computer boots me into download mode.
It's very frustrating to say the least. Fortunately I have a twrp backup that I can restore but it's such a waste of time.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Useless posts just to raise your post count are all over this forum, seriously if you cant offer anything remotely helpful why post at all? Also put your tongue back in!
OP can you extrapolate how to arrive at the issue and also please state device model, device status etc?
Are you using an application to set/unset your PIN?
I had this happening to me repeatedly, however it was accepting my PIN as the password so was more just annoying that anything else.
After some experimenting I found that it was Secure Settings (setting the PIN) that seemed to be the cause - somehow it was setting the PIN correctly the first time it ran and then subsequently it would switch to password.
I ditched it and instead setup my set/unset PIN via Pebble Locker (also using Wifi and other bluetooth devices to set/unset PIN).
After using it for a few days successfully, it locked once setting a password instead of PIN, and this time my usual PIN failed to unlock it. Luckily it was about 11pm and I knew that it would automatically unlock at about 7am the next day when the wifi was automatically switched back on - so I didn't need to reset or anything (although I got the impression at the time that you could unlock it via going to your google account somehow - but I can't recall the details and may have this entirely wrong).
I setup a Tasker profile so that I'd have a backdoor to disable the PIN by plugging it into power and checking if I'm at home at the time. Not the most secure solution, but hardly wide open either.
I'm having the same issue and it also appears to be a quirk with Secure Settings. Actually locked me out of my phone yesterday, had to return home where I had task to unlock phone in order to get back in.

Connections go to sleep with Oreo

Hello everyone, I've been running Oreo on my G6 for a couple of days now, and one thing I noticed is that when the screen is off the wifi or data go to sleep too, I mean for example I am not receiving Whatsapp messages unless I turn on the screen and open the app, no matters I left it open in the background. Is it like a new feature of Oreo to save battery while screen is off or something? It really is annoying, I also made sure that "keep wifi on when screen is off" is enabled in the wifi settings, but it doesn't work. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on here? Thank you very much
I have the same with Oreo and WhatsApp
well, you need to go into settings, general, exclusions of power saving and then swipe right the whatsapp and network app. do this on apps you really want to be notified right when receive something...
otherwise you only will know you have something when unlock the device.
that way you get the notification even with the device locked.

I've already tried this, it doesn't work. The problem is not specifically with whatsapp, in fact I tried to enter with whatsapp web while the screen of the phone was off and the website kept telling me that my phone was not connected to the internet, but as soon as I unlocked it also whatsapp web found it and logged in. It's like I said in the title, the connections of the phone go to sleep when the screen is off, is there any option I am missing with this new Oreo software?

and thats what i say, you need to exclude whatsapp, network and wifi from power savings.
its the only way i see to solve the problem. no more can be done.
My LG G6 already does this on 7.0. I need to look into this...
Try to uninstall and install whatsapp again
