Yes! Jeyo Mobile Companion, it costs money but is excellent software! or....http://www.ppcwarez.org/phpBB2/articles.php?t=15732&order=DESC&mode=news
word of warning thought mate, if you use that link, you're gonna run into problems with conflict over the owner name and the crack supplied with download. take a glance at the comments for solutions...time spent getting this software is worth it though - it's brilliant!

does it backup drafts folder too?

Bizigi, thanks for quick reply but the software isn't up to par.
The software is buggy, requires a restart--and theres no way to get messages from all the folders, only the inbox looks like.
If you want to get messages from other folders, copy them over to the inbox folders, but then when you sync it, it will not show up.
You will have to goto a another folder section in Outlook and it will be in there. Now, there is no way to export those messages to a comma delimited/text file.
I would highly warn against this software, it's a huge mess really.

Want to redo phone, how do I backup and which of the ...

My phone suddenly feels sluggish as if some program is hogging all the memory and I've made a bit of a mess anyway :?. I also just recently got a 1GB mini SD and want to install apps to it.
I need to backup: my contact list, call history, text messages, notes, tasks and also calendar.
How do I go about doing this?
Also which of the following should go on PPC and which are fine to run off the SD?
-TCMP (which cab am I supposed to use again?)
-Skype (going to try new one)
-Total Commander
-Real player (don't think TCMP can play such files)
-The tweak app posted here
-Adobe acrobat reader PPC (I know there's something else but I don't remember its name)
-minimo (seems pretty interesting haven't had the chance to try it out yet)

Contact list, notes, tasks, calender is backuped with ActiveSync. You don't have to worry if ActiveSync works fine with Outlook.
About the call history and text messages I don't know. I myself haven't find them that important.
I use Sunnysoft Backup Manager for backups:
http://www.sunnysoft.com/en_clanek.php?clanekid=51
Check it out ... it's good if to restore to a snapshot before you screw up your device.
And remember to "redo your phone" with the newest available ROM.
To be honest, I have been running without Activesync. Don't think I have outlook installed...hmm. Is there any way to do it so that it can be loaded directly onto the phone? Otherwise I guess I will have to install it as it comes with office if I remember correctly.
If I can't backup text messages...hmm...there must be away. I would like to keep the call history but it looks like it can't be helped...I'll have to run through and collect some of those numbers :x
Do I really need the newest ROM for my mini S? :? The one on it right now works great. Heck even skype worked acceptably till now...

I suppose it's possible if you know where the data is saved. But I think there won't be a simple way of doing it. I would myself be intresting where the data can be found.

Once you "redo your phone" ... it's your best opertunity to upgrade the ROM. And I prefer you do so to avoid problems in the feature. Your device will be faster and be more stable (ROM 2.17).
2.17...Is that an O2 ROM? I will first need to figure out how to save those text messages. Hmm.... Worth emailing MS?

2.17 is the ROM HTC has distributed to all brands/countries ... depeding on each contact it depends when the ROM is available officially.
I think it's no worth mailing MS. Hope someone here know where the SMS are saved.

txt transfer

Can any one advice me of either another PDA application or a means of transerring txts from my XDA Exec so i can retain them if have to Hard reset device?
Whilst I don't have an Exec so I can't try this out, I use Jeyo Mobile Commander to backup my SMSes and contacts - it works flawlessly with my device, and as it works through ActiveSync chances are it'll work with the Exec too... PM me for more info.

sorry, not sure i understand your question... do you want to backup your txt files? just copy them to a SD card ... or to the PC via activesync or via wlan (without AS). plenty of options available.
In the UK, txts is pretty much used as an everyday slang for 'text messages' (txts.. sending a text, etc) - sorry if we confused you

SMS transfer
Apologies, it is the sms and mms i want to be able to copy from XDA so i dont lose them when ROM upgrade or hard reset is completed.
Is Jeyo Mobile Commander compatible with the XDA EXEC? also there seems to be a new product Jeyo Pocket Companion, does that do the same?
Newbie so bear with me please.
Thanks for your help.

i know for a fact that jeyo (to backup sms's) is compatible with the exec, but i never tried it, don't know exactly which program you need..
anyway does anyone know of a solution to backup them that doesn't need the pc and syncing? sms export to a txt file or csv or anything would be even better.
The only program I've found which can backup your texts without using ActiveSync is a program called smsBackup - but it's quite buggy, and you still have to copy the file off yourself (it just saves the backup file in its Program Files folder, and doesn't ever prompt you to save it anywhere else) - it's free though, so I suppose you can 'work with it' considering the price point

the problem is that this program is not wm5 compatible.
Ah, rats.
To be honest, Jeyo Mobile Commander is WELL worth using ActiveSync for - it's a really, really useful program and doesn't require anything installed on your mobile device to work, so that's even better.

the bad thing is that i'd have to start using outlook then
well, i'll see... if nothing else...
afaik, if you're just using the bog standard New -> Message method of sending texts on your phone, while it does store the messages on the phone in the Outlook hive along with MMSes and emails synced from Outlook, I don't believe you need Outlook on your PC to save and/or restore them, if you catch my drift...

sorry, how do you mean the part about using the new/message method. i just press reply many times after seeing the notification without going into the messaging application.
would be real cool if i don't need outlook for this. i'll definitely check this out. thanks once more.
Well I just use the XDA's regular messaging app for texting too, which I know stores text messages in a pooled area along with mesages synced in from Outlook and MMS messages.
But the Jeyo app just reads my SMSes directly from the phone (I can watch it as it populates the list realtime), and when I back up my messages it saves them directly to its own format file, and restores them directly back again. Outlook is never involved.
2 versions
I think there are 2 versions of Jeyo...
1. Is a standalong app
2. Is a build ontop of Outlook...
What've i've noticed is application 1, does not read sub folders, which i've found to be annoying, as i'm on the verge of a hard reset myself, and i have built up quite a collection of sms's now...
Wish there was an easy answer to this...
Maby SPB Backup is something to look into?
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/backup/?en
Not sure if it does sms/mms, but worth a try
I use Jeyo Mobile Commander to back up my txt msgs, I recently had to send my MDA Pro back to T-mobile so i used Jeyo to save my txt onto my computer and transfered them to my MDA III(BA) until i got my MDA Pro (Universal) back. It works a charm and backs up txt nicley, updates all the current txt on the computer every time you connect it to activesync, the only thing that i would have liked it to do would be to backup MMS which it doesn't have the option for as far as i can see, but apart from that you can backup your txt, contacts, call history and even send txt directly from your computer once its connected to you phone.
Yeah, I noted that it doesn't (can't? or won't?) back up MMS messages, possibly because of the non-standard way in which the XDAs create them (I noticed that the actual MMs composition software is third party, maybe that's got something to do with it...) Aside from that, I'm absolutely happy with the software. The ability to send text messages straight from my PC while my phone's docked is VERY cool
ok problem solved.. a friend of mine is writing a brilliant program that can export the sms's on the device without a pc. basically already working ok, just needs some polishing 8)
Tell him I'd love to beta test it for him, if he needs testers!

Microsoft My Phone - Walkthrough

Hi,
Luckily i got my hands on an invitation code for My Phone beta. Check out a walk-through of My Phone via screenshots at: http://xperiancer.blogspot.com/2009/02/microsoft-my-phone-in-action.html
It is simply the best backup solution out there for Windows Mobile devices. Could include a couple of configuration options, but overall a perfect solution!
Best Regards.
Salman Khalid.

Ah... sorry for that. Corrected it.
yay i just received my invitation for MyPhone!
Any kind one that would like to invite me?
apparently the MS Team is posting promotional codes on their twitter account
http://twitter.com/msmyphone
You could try that one, or sign up and register your interest and i am sure they will send you...that's what i did
how to get into My Phone
yeah just sign into the site and be put on the waiting list, only a day for me to get accepted.
It's good enough but saves all the images in the my pictures folder, you specify individual files, cant backup any files from sd card and it cant backup windows live contacts only phone contacts directly added to the device or through outlook. Space on the beta is 200mb for backup, which is plenty if it can only backup certain places on the device.
That's my experience so far.
my phone cab file
hi . i just wanted to upload this file because i was looking for it and couldn't find it now i finaly got it so i want everybody to enjoy it
I would never put a backup on my personal data on the internet... Why not using a backup software and restore from the sd card ?
i received my invitation and i cant connect to the sync server, thats what it says, only once of thousands i tried said the ID doesnt match,
Anyidea what it could be?
do they need some time to update files?
should i wait?
I tried w the english and spanish version, and they seem totally the equal.
not impressed at all this doesn't sync it replaces from web account to phone
just a note to add: if get error message about syncing it will be because your clock is wrong and needs to be changed to the proper time
after flashing a new rom, i start setting up my phone again, connect it to Outlook, and then sync MyPhone, i end up with duplicates of all my contacts.. any solution?

Copy SMS from Samsung to SEXP1

Hi,
Just bought a XP1 and I want to copy my text messages from my old mobile (Samsung U600) to the Xperia.
I've been trying for a few weeks now but it's just not working so I thought why not ask the experts!
Anybody know any way or any program that can help me do this!!
thanks!!!
you could try the microsoft sync program... i dont remember if it syncs the sms too...
no it doesn't.
do google search or search in this forum, for this little utility program called "PIMBackup". select backup of your messages (if you just want SMS, make sure you set just text messages instead of all messages which include email, etc) and make sure you select your storage card as the backup path.
thanks for the quick help.
But PIMBackup works on the Xperia but I'm trying to copy the textmessages from my Samsung to the Xperia.
Any thoughts?
Doesn't Samsung have a software (like nokia pc suite) that could export all your messages?
Also, look if there's any option on your Samsung that may save your messages on the memory card of the Samsung (if it has a memory slot).
why don't you use Microsoft MyPhone, it's in open beta and you can use it to sync text messages from one WM phone to another...

if so, your next best bet might be to sync to your outlook using jeyo.

copy contacts,messages from x1 to x10

hello guys i got my xperia x10 yesterday and it is amazing one
but want to know how to copy contacts and inbox messages from my old x1 to x10
if you're using an X1, you're probably syncing with outlook.
so go to outlook, export contacts in CSV format. Save this file on your desktop or a location of your choice.
Next, open up gmail, click on contacts. Click import, and upload the CSV file. Sync your X10 with gmail. Done.
thanks alot
and what about messages

How do i sync contact pictures?
as far as i know you cant do anything about the contact pictures and text messages. you can only back up the texts to PC but no way of getting them on the X10
You can just as easily copy the CSV file from outlook to the root of your memory card in the X10, and then from contacts import the file.
Just done it from my iPhone 3GS 32GB to macbook pros adressbook to my shiny, new, X10 !
244 contact in no time !
I beamed all my contacts from X1 to X10 using Bluetooth.
what about text messages?
i need to sell off X1 to get X10..but dunno how to backup all the data.

If you want to make it easy for yourself, just forget about the text messages. There have never been a reliable transfer of text messages from one platform to another, especially from WinMo to Android and there probably never will be. It's much easier doing backups of text messages within one platform.
My tip is to write down the most important ones and skip the rest.

X1 is not included in the list of phones you can sync here!! Is it just me or other are also missing X1 in the phones you can sync? It does have X2 and using that option it asks to run a program which isn't there in X1. Anyone has any other idea how to transfer all contact details including pictures from X1 to Android phones like Xperia Pro??
