ANYONE got VOIP to work right on HERMS200, BlackDymond3.5????? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

ANYONE got VOIP to work on HERMS200?????
If you would be so kind as to help me out, that would be great
This is what I have tried and done so far to try to get Voip to work with my provider, but nothing I have been able to do has worked fully yet. I can not program, as one of the links shows how to make your own .CAB, and from what I have figured out with the rest of what I found, all the codex are WAY to old to work with the ISP’s servers the way they should (or this is the way the provider explained it). All the .Cab files or links referred to files that use an OLD G711 Codex, and I was told that in order for Voip to work right, I need a .CAB file that has the NEW G723.1 Codex for the Voip & SIP settings!
This was a Pretty tricky way of trying, couldn’t quite figure this one out…

WM VI Black Voip & config.CAB(1.82MB) File!
Unfortunately they both seem to use the old codex
If anyone understands this stuff, PLEASE pass on a .cab that has the new stuff to work over the internet.
I am using Black Dymond 3.5 as a ROM as well!
Please go easy on me, as I am not a programer or very techy yet!
Simple is better for me as I am still learning
THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Getting Skype to work - the answer is here.

First, thanks to AsGF2MX and his topic here
This tweak is not new, im just bringing it to the attention of those who only read the prophet forums.
It would appear the high and low CPU version of skype are most likely the same, the only difference being which codec it uses to compress the audio (high uses a smarter and higher quality codec resulting in high voice quality).
While low has a lower voice codec it is possible to make it even lower. The actually call quality is fine, the only difference is IT WORKS!
Heres what to do:
1) Install Skype for Low CPU's from http://www.skype.com
2) Run the attached CAB or modify the registry yourself (HKLM\Software\Skype\Phone\Audio\DisableCodecs and set it to read ILBC G729 EG711U)
Thats it, no need to overclock. You cant call the skype echo123 or Linux users as they dont support this codec but everyone else should work fine on WiFi.
Now even easier. Below is an install which will install skype that will work on the Prophet/JAMin/M600/S200.
What is it?
Its just the bog standard Skype 2.0.0.51 from skype.com but I added the registry keys required to acutally get it working on this device. I also added the Today plugin from the new Skype 2.1 beta.
How?
1. Remove any existing Skype install
2. Click here to Download Skype for Prophet and run the CAB file on your device
3. Launch skype and logon
Also attached is a seperate download to add the today plugin found in the 2.1 Beta for those that dont want to fully re-install.
Wizard?
Any idea if this will work with a Wizard?
Yes, the original thread I took the tip from was for teh wizard. Same processor, same outcome.
Work fine, at least in my device, thanks a lot!

As for me.
Seems to work fine for me too! Thanks a bunch
This is great. Thanks a ton! I finally am looking forward to installing Skype on my prophet without any hassle
works great here too on the wizard
I installed the CAB file that dannyoneill posted. When trying call skype's test number I get "no common codec" and skype hangs up. Does anyone know what to do about it?
// lidholm
You cannot use skype once you have applied this fix to call users running skype on Linux. Which is what the test server runs.
Linux only supports the one codec and it happens to be the one thats causing trouble for us.
For most they dont actually know anyone who runs Linux so its not a problem, and even if they did they have a choice. Not working at all or working for windows users.
Thanks for the reply.
Am I able to use SkypeOut ?
// lidholm
you can, as far as I know its just skype on linux that has issues, skype out, in , chat, it all works.
What about calling users that have Skype for Mac OS X? do their skype support this codec?
i believe so, yes
codec issues
This version works great with my xv6700, howeverm I replaced skype 2.2 with this. Problem is, when I reinstall skype 2.2 after uninstalling this modified 2.0 version, I cannot call with skype 2.2! It would seem all the codecs are disabled. No skypeout, no windows users, no nothing. I have checked the registry and there is nothing listed under the disabled codecs. Skype 2.2 worked OK (but slowly) before I installed this package. Any suggestions?
Does Skype work on GPRS
Hi,
Unable to download the cab file off the ftp server and also there's no Low CPU version available on www.skype.com mentioned as such. Can you please upload the file as an attachment with your message.
Also, I have an unlimited data plan through GPRS with my service provider. I have read, not clearly though, that Skype would work only through a Wi-Fi connection. My questions are -
1. Is it true, that Skype works only with Wi-Fi Net connectivity
2. If yes, is there any tweak/modification to use it through GPRS connection
3. If no, is there any other VoIP software available for WM5 that connects through GPRS.
Thanks,
Umesh

Hi there,
I had the same problem with disabling the codecs. I installed the 2.2 and after setting DisableCodecs, any call would fail with an error message "Audio I/O error" (SkypeOut, too). Then I removed this registry setting, rebooted and the error persisted. It seems that skype stores this setting at a different position and doesn't change it back.
The solution to the problem is to manually navigate to the Skype folder, open config.xml and remove the codecs which should still be inside the <DisableCodecs>...</DisableCodes> tags.
However, I still haven't figured out what the problem with disabling the codecs is in the first place. I'm running WM5 on an O2 Neo. Any ideas greatly appreciated!
Chris
Thanks for your sharing!
I am going to give it a try!

J2ME PIM JSR-75 for TyTn WM5 possible?

I have been trying to use JSR-75 API for a J2ME application on my SPV M3100. It seems the PIM api is not on the phone :-( even though it is MDIP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 compliant...
Firstly, it would be great if someone else could confirm this!!!! I have only found one other place on the net to verify it, so another few would help!
Secondly... has anyone managed to successfully use the JSR-75 PIM functionality on this device (or similar)? I have also installed the ibm J9 code, but this too did not give me access to the phone's contacts list, as I wanted
PHUH!
I am sure there is an easy answer to some of this and I m just missing a part of the puzzle
Many Thanks
Sanjay
If the Intent software doesn't support that JSR, then there's nothing you can do about it. The latest WM6 ROMs have a slightly newer version of MIDlet Manager, maybe it supports JSR-75. You could also try the version of Java that comes with NetFront.

TIddlyWiki in Wm5

So... im trying to use tiddlyWiki ( a local javascript based wiki - http://www.tiddlywiki.com/) in my htc P3401 - wm5.
so all working fine.. with my opera mobile (8.xx AND 9.45 Beta) BUT.. i cannot save the changes maded because it requires that you allow the javascript to write in the local files...
SOmeone know how to make this works?
thanx in advance
TiddlyWiki for WM6
I'd also like to use TiddlyWiki on my HTC touch Pro 2 with Opera Mobile but it's the same as you : I cannot save the html file.
This is the first issue, I think the other one would be to optimize the template for a mobile use but it should be easier.
I also saw that iPhone users have the same issue since the vesion dedicated to iPhone is saved online and not on the mobile. http://www.apple.com/webapps/productivity/itwatiddlywikiforiphone.html
Hope somebody could help on that : is there a security parameter to change ?
Otherwise, I found a quite not bad wiki dedicated for WM: bLADE Wiki (http://bladewiki.blogspot.com/) but it is not as functional (lacks tagging function mainly).
Thanks in advance for any help

Activate bluetooth from vb.net application

hi, I have made a small application to retreive nmea information from my bluetooth GPS on my HTC Tytn phone ( wm6 )
I developped it using microsoft visual studio 2008 pro avec wm6 pro sdk.
I would like to include a button to activate/desactivate the bluetooth from my application, any idear how I could do that plz ?
You'll find native functions and description in the SDK-Help.
Anyway, bluetooth is not simple to handle.
I'd recommend to use a freeware called 32feet to use bluetooth functions in .NET.
I's a library which does the wrapping of native DLL-functions to .NET.
You can find it on codeplex.com.
But keep in mind that it is not guaranteed to work properly, because there are 3-4 different bluetooth stacks on the market and the library does not work with all of them.
Hi,
if I good remeber someone on XDA have made some library to enable/disable BT/Wifi/Phone, and it was make in C# or VB... and there was near 1 or 2 month ago.
I don't know how to find his post but the good users could help you...
Sorry for this little help Hope you'll find !
I've been messing around with the 32Feet libraries (6.1 Touch Cruise with MS stack) and found them to be very useful and reliable so far. But the may be overkill for simply turning Bluetooth on and off. VJVolubilis (http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis) may give you what you want but it looks to be only compatible with the MS stack too.

sip client - internet calling on Jade

Hi,
I am planning to buy a Jade after using Hermes for a long time.
I was happy with the use of internet calling (internal sip client) of WM6 on my Hermes.
Now I wonder if it will be possible to use it on Jade.
Is there anyone who have used it and can supply feedback ?
Thanks.
well, there is no inbuild sip-client in the wm6.1 of jade. which is pretty bad. i tried a lot, activating the wm6.1 client, agephone, etc, all with sipgate.de and via wifi, but i was never satisfied... somehow it does not work and i am still looking forward to a good solution!
Try Fring http://www.fring.com/. Works very well and the sound comes from the earpiece.
Does not work properly, just tried it out. Via WiFi, a lot of disturbing side-noises, no good quality... Still no a good alternative...
I was talking about the "internet calling" application which integrates sip into the default phone application of WM6
I use this on my Hermes for a long time. It is installed as a cab file (not available in the rom but can be available in custom roms)
Now, is it not possible to install this cab on Jade ?
have you ever tried ?
Here's the long thread about it:
