SPV M3100 - Problem sending out emails??? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

On my Orange SPV M3100, upgraded with Orange Official ROM, I have a problem with sending out emails but incoming mail is fine. This is sending to any account/address - have spoken with Orange who are equally confused but say it is a problem reported by SPV M3100 users - is this the case with anyone on this forum? How do you get around sending out emails? All the email POP3 settings are correct on the phone.

hi there,
you need to enter smtp.orange.net as your smtp server this should solve the problem.

i had something similar on my orange m500 and i eventually traced the problem to the pop3 settings as i had not ticked out going mail server requires authentication...
i have had no problems with the new Orange firmware upgrade.
hope this helps.

Thanks! Checked all settings again....outgoing mail authentication was not ticked....filled it in and hey presto! ......all working now!

With 3G SIM card, view website OK
But all email services and Windows Live! are unavailable
Always said: make sure you are connected……
No idea

i'd try a hard reset, sometimes the phone becomes a bit flakey. A soft one doesn't always sort the problem with the modem locking up.

No MMS, Vodafone UK SIM in Exec

Hi - I've seen some posts that kind of address this topic but nothing yet that can solve the problem I'm experiencing (I think!).
I've set my O2 Exec up with what I'm confident are the Vodafone UK WAP APN and MMS server settings. However, when I send a message it tries for the standard 3 attempts and then gives up, saying the message couldn't be sent and that it would remain in my outbox. However, all 3 of the messages are actually successfully delivered! I am unable to download any 'received' MMS sent to me, although I do receive the notifications.
Has anybody else experienced this and, if so, I'd appreciate any advice in solving it.
The WAP APN I'm using is wap.vodafone.co.uk without the proxy setting enabled (as this is specified in the MMS settings). The MMS server is http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms, gateway is 212.183.137.12 with a port number of 8799. Size is limited to 100K, using WAP 2.0.
Thanks for any assistance.
Vodafone MMS
I've got exactly the same problem. I rang vodafone and told them I had a V1640 and ask them to send me the settings, but she couldn't do it for some reason. She told me to go down to the vodafone shop and ask them to program the settings in manually. I haven't done this because I reckon that I will know more than them about the phone.
My O2 ROM has the settings for 02's connections, therefore, the only thing I can think of doing now is to somehow obtain a copy of the V1640 ROM and install it and hope the settings will be inherant with the installation.
Had a quick look aroung the net without any success.

I'm going from memory a little, but before i upgraded to my Orange SPV M5000, I upgraded my O2 XDAII from PPC2003 (not SE) to a WM2005 ROM, working on a Vodafone PAYT SIM.
I used the attached file to configure all the necessary Vodafone settings (btw, this is UK PAYT)... just copy to your device and run the CAB. I don't recall any problems runnings this, irrespective of any manual settings i'd set.
I also recall having to phone Vodafone to ask them to ensure my GPRS was enabled as this affects MMS sending. Vodafone seemed to be happy to automatically switch it off for me every few months!
Hope this helps

OneTel POP3 on MDA Compact

Hi all.
Having a big problem with Onetel Pop3 emails on my MDA Compact. I can receive all mail no problems, but cannot send at all, the server either times out or it cannot connect.
Is this a OneTel issue? Been on the phone to them and cannot get anything sensible from the call centre staff. Or is it a TMob GPRS issue?
Can anyone help please? I've done a big search and couldn't find the info so hopefully wont be wasting anyone's time.
Thanks

SPV M600 and Vodafone MMS settings
Hello
I'm going crazy trying to get MMS to work but everything I've tried has failed so far.
I know GPRS is working because I can setup a GPRS connection that I can happily use to browse the internet using pocket IE and also send and receive emails from several POP accounts I've setup in the email app. Also, the Vodafone contract SIM I have came straight out of a Nokia N70 that had no problem sending and receiving picture messages and is actually 3G enabled.
I've followed just about every forum 'try this' instruction I've found but nothing. Calling Vodafone customer service was about as much use as a chocolate teacup as they wanted me to give them a make and model so they could send me a service message but for obvious reasons, the Orange SPV M600 was not one of them. How did you get anything useful out of them?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

have pm u m8 and still no reply? Anybody got a cab for this or can direct me to one? Have installed a cab thta I found somewhere but phone still has orange settings on it?

Try using the cab provided here to setup the operator settings.

o2 MMS problem on MDA touch

I can't send and receive MMS messages correctly on my unlocked MDA touch.
When trying to send an MMS it gets to 99% then seems like it fails and the message is put in my drafts folder. The message is actually received on the other phone though.
When a message is sent to my phone it again gets to 99% then seems to stop doing anything.
I've used a few network settings cabs to try and sort the problem but none have helped the mms problem. The last one I used was the HTC network wizard version 1. Which sets everything up so that I have no problems accessing the internet.
I have an o2 simplicity contract with the unlimited web bolt on.
Is this likely to be an o2 issue or a phone one?
Any Ideas?
Managed to solve the problem by installing ArcsoftMMSComposer 5_0_31_19.zip from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2208775
then running the network wizard again.
