Everyone here has a TyTN, and I bought a SoftBank X01HT before finding this site, as it was advertized as the same phone, with only two keys with japanees letters on it. When I got it, all it came with is non english cd, and it originaly had wm5 in Japanees The seller put somesort of WM6 into it, ROM ver 3.23.0.2 ROM date 01/04/07 Radio ver 1.16.00.00 Protocol ver 32.53.7018.01H
I have contacted Microsoft, and ALL of there distributers for smartphones, HTC, and my carrier. ALL of them say they can not provide me with an original english WM6 ROM so I have a stable readable base with which to try new roms from HTC even said that the softbank is not the same as the TyTN for ROMS, so is this true? Am I screewed now from buying this softbank instead of a TyTN or a cingular 8525?? Or does anybody else have one of these, and can give me some guidance of how I should proceed from here with this perticular phone model, to get to a stable english ROM installed as a back up. So I don't have to reset it, and have it go to the original Japanees Rom if something goes wrong.
Or is this a unusable junk version of the HTC TyTN, and I sould try to offload it?
Any help on this would be AWSOME as I am so lost, and this WM6 version that is on here now sucks for trying to connect wifi, andmostly crashes everytime when trying! It has no Voip or SIP settings, and the remote desktop does not work either
THANK YOU any one that can help me
take a look at the wiki page, all the available ROMs are there. However I would recommend you try following one of my guides and update to one of the following:
WM6 LVSW
WM6 Black Dymond
WM6 Elf Edition v2
CUSTEL WM6 Pro 2.5
Faria's Super Clean WM6 v1
Dutty's WM6 v2
WM6 3DES.3.5
Schap's WM6 Pro [multilingual]
ALL of these are very stable and the guides take you through updating SPL/Radio and ROMs
Thank you for getting back to me
I would like to get this phone to a Dutty's WM6 v2 state from the options it has, but I am VERY tech limited, or experianced. I would be willing to pay or donate a bit of money to someones paypal account that is willing and ABLE to help me with this process, and answer if this model X01HT will convert properly as well. I have tried to find anyone that has done mods to the X01HT and always come up with no one, using, or having done one
I can give you my email and you can send me yours, and I will GLADLY give you my PH#, or give me yours as I will also GLADLY pay the long distance to anyone that will gracously help me out, or just wants some spending cash for the knowledge and experiance they already have that I do not in HELPING me out LOL!
A lot of the links you sent I have read or similar, and just some of the procedures and/or terms are scarry and unfimiliar as I know nothing about some of the stuff the instuctions are refering to.
I would not be so scrared to try for the first time solo if I could hard reset and it would revert back to a english installed ROM, but it will be JAPANNEES And than I would be totaly screewed!
So if someone can help me out with getting a STABLE English ROM as the resetable one it will goto, and some of the fixes like the keyboard fix as I am most sure I will need, that would be AWSOME! I would be glad to donate some funds for your time in helping me
Thank you

Hi There,
I am buying a Wizard (MDA Vario) for an Australian friend of mine that's coming over for a visit and naturally she wants the Wizard in English.
However, I can easily (and very cheaply) get the Dutch version from T-Mobile in the Netherlands since I am renewing my partners contract.
So I guess I need to flash a new WWE rom onto the Dutch T-Mobile...
My questions:
I am aware of the WWE I-Mate Rom that you can download from the club I-Mate ftp site.
1. Is this a good rom - and will it work 100% problem free with the Dutch MDA Vario?
2. Are there any other or better alternatives? any links to other roms? maybe a T-Mobile UK rom or QTEK 9100? which WWE rom is considered the most stable and non sluggish?
I appreciate you kind help and effort.
Cheers,
Lisa
Someone here flashed his vario, so it seems to work:
http://www.modaco.com/Wireless_G_problems_with_Vario-t232451.html
That seems to be true...
However, I am wondering if all works correctly after the upgrade - or are there any loose ends - like an application not running? frequent crashes etc...
I can recommend flashing always. But you have to know what you are doing. Furthermore you void your warranty doing this, so you might want to consider that while you have the chance to make a brick out of the vario.
Things like sim unlocking are easy with it so that shouldn't give you a problem.
Hi guys
Just a quick question and I hope you guys can answer me.
I have got the MDA Vario with T-Mobile and have upgraded the ROM to 2.17.7.2 WWE (this is the Qtek Rom) and it works just great.
My question is, however, can I downgrade this ROM to the original T-Mobile ROM it came with?
I am wondering since I want to send the phone back to T-Mobile but am worried if they see I have upgraded it they will not take it back.
Please help.
Thanks kindly
You'll need to use lokiwiz to unlock the device and then reinstall the opriginal ROM. As you have an AKU2 ROM you'll need to downgrade the ROm first to an old custom QTEk ROM and then run lokiwiz to unlock then re-install the ROM. There s along post on this forum or the upgrade forum on how to do this. There are alos posts re putting the device back into it's original state if you need to ship it back to a vendor - can't find them just now but would suggest you trawl the forums... painful though it may be
Hey thanks loads. I have looked around to try and find how to restore everything but can't find it yet. I'll carry on looking but if you can suddenly remember where they are I'd appreciate it
Also, do I have to downgrade the QTek ROM first, or can I just install the T-Mobile ROM straight away?
Thanks again

Does it matter that the link above looks like it is for US? I have UK T-Mobile
DaveyG th solution is explained at http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...IBwAAABi/2UG&bcsi_scan_filename=viewtopic.php
If you want a TMo UK ROM got ot the TMo UK Site http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/mdas.html
Thanks JoninLA, the phone is unlocked using Loki already as that is how I upgraded the ROM, but I will make sure I have unlocked it and then install the original ROM from the T-Mobile site.
Thanks so much again, now I should be able to send it back, providing it all works...
Hey folks,
have an T-Mobile SDA Business (the black one) and I have to update the ROM (don't ask why), so I thought about updating it to the QTEK-ROM for the corresponding device without any branding as my T-Mobile has.
My question is: where can I find one and which is the HTC Codename for the device? Is it the HTC Typhoon? English or german ROM doesn't matter, because there's also an official T-Mobile ROM for later setting it back to german before I'll sell it (if ever). I think that even in the english Version I can switch the T9-language to German, right?
I also have an MDA Pro with QTEK ROM which works better than T-Mobile ROM for me.
I've searched the XDA-dev-FTP but didn't find anything.
Any information would be great.
Regards,
NiTeSHiFT
The SDA Business is known as the HTC Feeler, but often known as a variant of the HTC Typhoon. The Typhoon and the Feeler use different keyboard drivers so you must be careful.
I'm afraid I don't know where the ROM is.

Thanks for the info about the HTC Feeler. Didn't knew that. I knew only the HTC Typhoon, found and installed that ROM and found out that 2 of my Keys didn't work the way they should ;-) Actually the didn't work at all.
So I flashed the new german T-Mobile ROM and have to use that one.
But actually I want to buy a QTEK 8310 but have to chek if I get my SDA Business repaired. The lower right key doesn't work anymore, but I didn't do anything. Hope the warranty catches up.
If you want to, you can try upgrading your SDA Business with the latest German ROM from T-Mobile here: https://after-sales-service.t-mobile.de/eg_online/t-mobile/t_sda.htm
This should fix your button problem. Good luck!

Thanks for the hint, but as I mentioned in the posting above, I flashed the QTEK, found out, that it didn't work how it should and flashed back the newest T-Mobile ROM in German.
"So I flashed the new german T-Mobile ROM and have to use that one. "
Thanks anyways
So you're saying that you can't get the phone to ActiveSync with Windows? I'm having the same problem at the moment and I'm looking at whether it is possible to flash an image from a mini-SD card. If you find anything about this please do let me know.
Hello ya'all. This is my first post so first of all I'd like to congratulate you for the excellent site and forum !
There is a lot of resource info around here ! Great Job !!!
But unfortunately for some new people getting into this new world of WMobile even what it looks simple to you might be slightly blurred to us.
I bought in France a HTC P3300
IPL 1.12.0001
SPL1.12.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 1.12.00
ROM 1.12.406.1.FRE
RADIO 02.67.90
PROTOCOL 4.1.13.28
ROM EXT V.1.12.406.101
ARTE 100
Of course the WM came in French. Well I am willing to change it to WWEnglish and I've been doing my homework researching and reading, reading, reading through this website. Found the steps to do it thanks to Kleinemeus at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290241 and found the DOPODAU and LOVE ROMS as well the Extended Rom in the ftp site. As well as I found my P3300 is the same as MDA compact III, XDA Orbit, P800W, Dopod P800 ....
But I still a couple of silly doubts that I gonna ask for you MASTERS your mercy to clarify me with your wisdoom and expertise.
1) After flashing my P3300 with a English ROM will it have all same basic features/programs I have in French like, the radio, tomtom gps, etc ? In other words, doing this is like getting a desktop that came with windows in french and installing a windows in english ?
2) After being successful of flashing the Rom following the steps described in the link above by Kleinmeus how can I upgrade the Extended Rom found at the ftp ?
I really appreciate if someone could help me with these 2 questions.
Thanks in advance !!!
It should work
Be careful when flashing becos many ppl cant get it right.
If you manage to flash it successfully you should have almost the same functionality.
I dnt know abt the ROM.
Is ur phone CID unlocked? If not do it before u change the ROMS.It will be a big disaster if u get stuck in between and u cant do anything.
Yups, you'll have all the basic apps that are part of WM5.
Regarding TomTom or other Commercial GPS applications, these are not part of WM5 package and are installed by supplier, so you'll have to confirm whether the ROM that you are planning to flash has that specific GPS app.
Regardinf Extended ROM, these come as part of ROM that you will plan to flash. Usually people only take some specific apps/patches from other Extended ROM that wasn't part of supplied/flashed ROM (i guess I am right about this)
The unit has been constantly freezing and it takes about 20 reboots a day so would like to try it on its original Rom does anyone know where I can find this.
I have found the WM6 upgrade but would firstly like to see what its like on wm5. Currently running the black rom but freezes.
Many Thanks Daz
There is no UK T-Mobile WM5 ROM available.
The closest you will get is to download the German version and use the English CAB.
It will restore it to appear just as good as the WWE ROM, however, if you are requiring this for a warranty return, as soon as the engineer hard resets and finds it to be German... could cause problems...
Does this work?
I have been told by HTC that once you upgrade an X7500 to WM6 that it changes the bootloader and you can NOT go back to WM5??? Has anyone successfully gone back to WM5 from WM6?
