WIFI On/Off button - P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc.

I recently installed a little app (GB-SOFT Tweak) that gives you an on/off button when you tick the active GPRS connection.
Does anyone know a smiliar program to do the same for the WIFI connection.
It bother me that everytime I want to switch off the WIFI I have to go through the Comm Manager

I think it doesn't exist!!

but what about the connections line item on the today screen that I sometimes see on screenshots? (see attached)
Also on the screenshot attached there is an icon for the battery which it does not show in my version of WM6. Any idea how to activate that one?

Read the wiki, it's all explained.

GPRS is connected when you see a "G" in a little square with two arrows right below. GPRS is available but not connected when you see a large square with a "G" in it (no arrows).
When you see a Square with an "E" in the topbar, this means EDGE is available (faster than GPRS). When you connect a PC or Laptop through your phone (phone as modem) you will always see a large square with a "G", connected or not.
As you have upgraded to the 2.18 ROM, you already have a disconnection button in COMM Manager. It's the button at the bottem left side: A phone with 2 arrows at the right side. When you click it when GPRS is active, GPRS is deactivated. When you start a prgoram that needs GPRS, this is aumatically restored.
When you want shortcuts to engage/disable GPRS, WiFi, Bluetooth, InfraRed, Radio, you should take a look at VJ Volubilis, developed by Vijay of this Forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40428
k, a big thnx!

Vijay Volubilis not working on prophet :-(

Has anybody found a way to toggle wifi off/on with one click, instead of going through comm manager? Vijay' volubilis responds that "no compatible wifi found" when executed on my prophet.
Anyone? Or Vijay himself maybe shedding some light on this issue?
VJVolubilis's wifi feature has only been tested on the Universal, because that's the hardware I have. The Wizard wifi control is not perfect, because I don't have one.
I'm slowly thinking about how to try to implement a more generic wifi control, but unfortunately this is not really an OS feature, it's OEM specific, so it's something I'm still investigating. I haven't thought about the Prophet before. Let me check it out...

If you need any info (registry or what-not), let me know.
Thanks for looking into this.
vjvolubilis can be used for turning on/off wifi on prophet..
but there is one additional step to make it work..
ie after every soft reset, u need to use comm manager to turn on/off wifi 1 time. after which , u can use vjvolubilis to control it..
this issue is the same when u are using phone alarm with skins that can allow one touch wifi on/off... ie comm manager must activate it for at least once before it will respond to oneclick controls from either vjvolubilis or phonealarm..
I own a dopod818 [ singapore's version of prophet ]
Hey, I didn't know it (kind of) works on the Prophet... so it uses the same architecture as the Wizard I guess.
I'll try to think about Wifi control a little more as soon as I get a bit of time.
V
Not quite. Yes, true, I realized now that once Comm manager is employed once, Vijay's app CAN turn wifi on. But it does not turn it off, if you press wifi toggle again...
At least on my Qtek S200 with latest Dopod rom.
solved
Found a solution for this issue
Just put a shortcut to \Windows\WiFiInit.exe into your startup folder and enjoy the quickly activating wi-fi! After a soft reset this vill activate wlan for a second (green led will flash once and a wi-fi icon will appear on a place of network icon — don't worry).
But, as krale said, there is another little bug with VjVolubilis: you have to create both -wifion and -wifioff shortcuts to control wifi on Prophet because -wifitoggle shortcut does not turn off the wi-fi, it just can activate it.
When launched with -status parameter, it says that Wisard wi-fi is activated.

O2 Xda neo not detecting Wifi networks

Hi,
I couldn't find any other thread about this problem:
My O2 Xda neo has stopped detecting Wifi networks.
I activate Wifi in the comm manager, Wifi appears to work (the antenna icon appears, but not "radiating"), but never searches for wifi networks, only asks me to add a new one, whereas before a few weeks or so, it would display all the Wifi's found in my vicinity.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
n
i have the same problem...and couldn't find a solution for about 6 months on now....=(
Have you try on setting\connectons\wifi ? it has the list of avaiable wifi access points that were detected when you turn on wifi on comm manager.
(with the wm5 rom on my prophet, it auto connect to wifi access point whenever i turn on wifi on comm manager but when i use wm6 rom, I have to go to setting\connectons\wifi and connect to avaiable access point manually )

i still cant find any visible connecting point for me....but my house is wifi hot spot....i sit beside the router still cant detect anything....><"
haiz....><"
are u on Active sync or not? I remember that the Active sync on winXP have an option to disable wifi whenever you connect to pc (I use window mobile device center on Vista and don't remember exactly ).
sometime, when i can't connect to wifi, I check on setting connection and I found that the wifi icon with the name "WIFI" is replace with the same icon but with name "network card". I just soft reset and everything was fine then
Try Hard Resetting the Device
I have the same problem here with prophet g4 and wm6.1 konrad (tryed shadow's too).
Autosearch of wifi networks is missing.
maybe this our solution:
but how to proceed??
I wonder if this is hardware rather than software. Try an official WM5 (AKU2.2) ROM from the ftp/wiki and see if you still get this problem.
Can a hardware issue be fixed???
Hey all I am having the same problem on a Wizard wifi LED is blinking antena icon is up but no detection of APs I am ready to throw this thing. Some one hook a soln up please!!!

bluetooth icon on TytN

Is there a way to get an icon to display on the today screen whenever bluetooth is enabled on the TyTN. Is there a registry hack maybe?
thanks!
Bluetooth Icon
BLUETOOTH ICON ON TRAY BAR
With this hack, you can see and change the status of bluetooth from tray icon.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=257415
I made a customized version of the Wireless Manager which displays Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection on/off status, as you can see on screenshots from my new ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312604. Is it what you are looking for?
Thanks. I will try these. I have also found that HTweakC has a reg hack that puts the wireless and bluetooth on the today screen. this seems to also do the trick. Not sure what it does to battery life since it probably constantly checks if wifi or bt is on or off - I guess.
thanks again

It does not have any effect on battery life as it's a modified version of the Wireless Service (which manage permanently the connection status).
hi... to all members...
I prefer this small application compatible with wm6.0 that place the icon just on top tray bar, near wi-fi icon, and one click function give us the option to turn on/off bluetooth.
BluetoothIconNotifier.cab (original made for samsung)

Missing BT-Icon

I own a HTC Polaris, before this I had the XDA Orbit.
Since the Polaris I miss the Bluetooth-Icon when BT is turned on. Except the blinking blue diode I cannot check if BT is turned on.
Is there a possibility to get an BT-Icon when BT is switched on?
To Admin: My provider "3 - Austria" is missing in the Provider section in my User CP.
I dont know about the missing bluetooth icon, but for your operator you could chose Australia - Three...
Thanks, but there are no kangaroos in Austria
So if you turn BT on, you get the BT Symbol next to the 3G/E/G symbol?
Unfortunately not. But what you can do is tap the connection icon*, a bubble will pop up which tells you what kind of connectivity you have. This includes BT, WLAN and max network speed (3G, G, E, ...). Other than that there's only the blue LED and the on/off indicator in the CommManager...
*it's the "first" icon, the 3G/G/E/... icon or, if you are connected using WiFi, the "tower" with those horizontal arrows.
Alternatively you can select Ireland - Three, if you're more comfortable with them. They speak a weird English too, so language wise it doesnt really matter
Your idea doesn't work either.
In the bubble I can only see the standard Icons like 3G, the signal strengh, battery status and loudness - but not BT Symbol.
wtf...? See screenshot attached...
I have a Mac so I don't with active sync and BT. But I have activated the Wireless Menü at the bottom of the start screen, so I can see if WLAN or BT is turned on/off. But thx for you help.
It actually wasnt about the connected ActiveSync but more about the shiny blue Bluetooth "B" in the top left corner of the bubble The ActiveSync connection was needed for the screenshot...
Ah okay. I have disabled dies bubble because everytime the polaris connects to HSDPA I get this bubble, and this is really annoying.
So summarized, it's impossible to get the BT icon on the top like the WLAN icon?
Alternate solution: grab battery status ext - it allows to have bt and wifi icons in the right bottom corner - from there you can switch all the things on and off, perform actions like bt pairing or wifi connection establishment.
Thanks for your help.
