aku 3.3 internet connection sharing - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have been getting very sporadic performance from this application. Sometimes I can connect immediatly, other times I have to reconnect or restatr ie on my laptop multiple times to get a connection. Then it may stay stable for hours, or disconnect me within minutes. Is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe I need a hard reset or reflash. Any info is appreciated

I have the same setup, except your spl. I installed the new ROM last night as I just got a new 8525 via warranty replacement as my last one died last week. ICU wouldn't stay stable at all. I tried both My ISP and MediaNet. No dice. It would work for about five minutes then my laptop wouldn't recognize the 8525. I would have to turn off and turn back on the phone to get another five minutes. Any suggestions?

Wierd lack of connectivity issue...

Lately I've been having wierd connectivity issues with my Universal. It started happening occasionally a few weeks ago, but now seems to happen fairly frequently.
Sometimes after I soft reset the phone it makes it's GPRS connection, but it doesn't work. I am using ActiveSync with Exchange 2003 SP2 and when it's in this state I don't get new email. If I try to manually Send/Receive when it's in this state it says "Connecting..." then "Syncronizing Folders" for several minutes, then "Finished", however, nothing is actually syncronized. If I try to go to a web site in Opera it says "Looking up host", then "Sending Request" but never gets any further.
Originally I thought it might have been a Cingular issue, however, my wife's Treo 650 has no problems with data connections during the same time that it's not working for me, and if we swap SIMs my SIM works flawlessly in her Treo and hers exhibits the same issues on my phone. I've also just discovered that I have the same issues trying to connect to a wifi network when the phone is in this state. It clams that I'm connected to the network, but it just can't seem to send any data across.
In the past I had usually been able to fix by soft resetting once or twice, but lately that doesn't always seem to work. Sometimes I'll give up and just let it sit and all of a sudden I'll start receiving email (sometimes it takes several hours for this to happen) and sometimes after (quite) a few soft resets it starts working again. Once it's working, it seems to continue working (even for days at a time) until I soft reset the phone. Unfortunately, mostly because of memory issues I seem to have to reset at least once every day or two, if not more frequently.
I have no problem sending or receiving phone calls or text messages while I'm having problems with data.
I'm about ready to do a hard reset, but I was wondering if anyone else had seen anything like this or had any suggestions.
Thanks,
Brett
I don't know if mine is identical or not, but it sounds pretty close.
Here's what I'm seeing:
- Primarily in morning, ActiveSync will sync with Exchange server a la Direct Push. Sync happens fine. Another email comes in a moment or two later, it will not sync. Get an error code 80070008 (or close to it). What I do is disconnect GPRS, and stop the ActiveSync process. Restart it on the 8125, and the sync works just fine.
- Browsing. I'm using the Cingular settings. I'll try to go to a site, and it'll just sit there "locating".. Eventually, usually around the 1 minute mark, it will finally connect and find the site. I'll go to a different site, and it's generally just fine as long as I'm still in IE. I'll minimize it, go to another application, let it go for a bit, whatever, and it's the same thing all over again. Never dropped GPRS or closed IE. Strange thing about it is ActiveSync seems to work pretty quick by comparison, only difference is that it's going over SSL.
I'm not sure if it's a Cingular deal, or something with the WM-based devices. It happened all of a sudden. I've tried hard resetting, changing ROM's, using and not using the proxy...pretty much everything I can think of.
I know it doesn't help, but it doesn't sound like you're the only one having these problems.

wifi freezing problem

I am consistently having one problem with my 8525. Whenever I try to connect to the wifi at my university, the phone freezes. I have to remove the battery and reboot it to fix it. I don't have problems with any other wireless networks. I am confused and I have no idea how to fix the problem. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
The phone is probably waiting for some packet of data from the university that either isn't arriving or is very slow to arrive.
After a minute or two it should time out and the phone should work again.

wifi has stopped working

Very strange.. I upgraded to wm6 AX3L few weeks ago and everything has been working fine until few days ago when (as I was watching some news on a tv stream) my wifi has stopped working. Since I have only been able to connect for few seconds by rebooting the phone....
I have re-flashed the rom few times and tried some different radio versions... no luck.
In my opinion this is an hardware fault but I have seen that there could be (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322225) an eeprom corruption but I am not sure if this is applicable.
Any suggestions before trying sending it back to orange?
Thanks

Check router settings, delete connection from Trinity and re-create it, try leavind the wifi on while not connected to any networks to see if it is a HW problem.
Hi...
The router(s) are fine... they did not change and everything else (the other 5 wifi units in the house) works well
I have re-flashed the unit several times , re-creating the connection everytime...
leaving the wifi on is a bit more confusing: 90% of the time I do not see anything, 9% I can see nearby networks, 1% I can see and connect (for few seconds) to mine.
I'm having almost the same problem.
When the trinity is newly restarted I can find and connect to any wifi, but after about 5 min I can't access any pages. I then disables/enables wifi but this time I cant find any wfif-spots at all, and the green light is not flashing.
If I soft reset the trinity I'm possible to connect for another 5 mins...
I have tried many different ROMs, both cooked and official, wm5, wm6.1 and w6.5, I have tried different radio versions aswell, but nothing seems to solve this.
Any idea what's causing this?
Any kind of help is appreciated!

Wi-Fi Won't Turn On most of the time

My HTC HD has WIFI Problem: WiFi will not turn on most of the time.
After tapping the Wi-Fi Switch (in Communications Tab) it hangs for about 7 seconds then stops.
Sometimes after 6 seconds the wifi Icon will appear for 1/2 a second but then disappears.
The only way I can get it to connect at all is if the device is cool and I remove the battery for a while....
...Then restart it and Wi-Fi will switch on sometimes (but fail most of the time).
I have flashed the ROM (by different Cookers) many times, Hard Reset the device many times, and used all different power settings: Still no good.
If error reporting is ON I get error message "device.exe' problem.
As I live in Australia I would have to pay heaps for freight if I send it back to UK so I'm loath to do so.
Anybody know what should I do to fix it?
(PS. My old Diamond connects every time)
I have a similar WiFi connectivity problem, but after reading of the poor service provided by most vendors and HTC itself, I will try to gather some more experience with the problem before I contact HTC or my vendor, and hopefully find a solution. Bellow is my experience so far:
I own an HTC Touch HD since January and have a similar problem, only it surfaced last week. Before I had only used the WiFi connectivity briefly. The problems started after I installed an AP on my house expressively for the new PDA. The node is fully open and set to B/G/N protocols.
After a couple days of medium (couple hours per day) use the WiFi connection suddenly quit, the device would try to connect (the top bar showing the WiFi connection animation continuously) and after a few moments gave up with a dialog box stating the current network settings were wrong (even thou they worked fine a few hours earlier).
I tried several hot and cold resets, but only solved the problem after flashing a new ROM; even then the same symptoms reappeared after a couple of days of regular use. Again no re-setting would cure the problem, and now not even flashing the ROM again would work. Nonetheless, some hours latter the WiFi would connect perfectly with the same nodes it refused to before, and in very short time.
I have witnessed this cycle twice and have yet not been able to find a trigger for it, but will keep my eyes open for any tell tale signs, and post any findings here.
What I found out is that If you are using CommManager in TF3D together with other wifi mgr it screws up the wifi. Either you use CommManager or you use 3rd party one but not both at the same time.
Agreed!
Yes I agree completely; something on the permanent storage area got corrupted last week after I installed WiFi Monster (which I like, and recommend, only not at the same time as the standard connection manager).
I managed to get the WiFi conection working again (if only for a couple of days...) by doing the Start>Settings>Clear Storage thing and following the re-install.
Ok, so at least now I know of one more thing that can screw up th HD's WiFi besides itself!
i cant connect to my wifi in my same bedroom !!!
Enhancing WiFi performance
If you get very low range, or frequent connection interruptions, it might help to go to: Settings>Connections>Wi-Fi>Advanced>Power Mode and set it to "Best Performance"
PS. I wonder if anybody gets intermittent WiFi problems like myself. One day it works perfectly, the next it will not connect showing a dialog box: "Warning Cannot connect to the network. Check your network and service provider settings and try again"

Sudden issues with internet connectivity.

So to start with, I did use search
I have my HD with T-Mobile. Everything was working fine for months, until a few days ago.
I'm able to connect to the internet, however after 1-2 seconds, it seems like my phone stops sending/recieving data. Internet connection is still listed as active, yet the pages won't load etc, hitting refresh doesn't do anything.
Worth noting, most of the time, I don't get any errors in Opera, it just stops loading a page after 1-2 seconds. (It's the same with IE and every other online app) Sometimes I get 'ERROR - Could not locate remote server' in Opera.
Internet works fine over WLAN.
I can't link it to any software/rom. When it first happened, I've used Duttys 2.5, now switched to 2.9 and the problem persists. Also tried different Radios, different connection settings etc.
Any ideas ?

Maybe it's a network issue. Do you have a sim card for another network you could try?

Yeah, I tried. Same thing.
Any more ideas?
It's really wired, I rolled back to old HTC stock rom (still the same issue), installed stock 1.56 again ... and it's working. I have no idea what was the issue, especially considering how many times I've flashed it before and it was always there.
Oh well, I'm happy
Scratch that, forgot that the HD uses my PCs connection when plugged in.
So, it still doesn't work. Think I'll write to HTC, or is there anything else I could try doing?
Have you tried calling someone when you have the problems? After a couple of weeks-months a lot of people seem to have connectivity problems. I've sent mine back and hope to have it back soon!
I have this problem all the time for a week now. Everything but 3G internet works fine.
I did install SPB Wireless monitor yesterday, to check how is the data transfer.
Running the browser, hitting refresh each time, downloaded about 2KB of data (on average). (Same on both, 3 and T-Mobile)
Then, I've left youtube app and browser on - after about 40 minutes, it managed to download most of the youtube app start page and most of one of the pages I've opened with the browser. Data rate was highly random, often not downloading anything for a couple of minutes. In total, it was about 1.1 MB.
Then, after those 40 minutes - it didn't download anything any more for another hour or so. After that (the connection was still active), I've refreshed the browser and tried to load a different tab in youtube app, but for another hour or so no data was transferred.
did you install a new radio? and ifso did you also install the corosponding rilphone.dll?? maybe you can use hd tweak and set the data connection you use to always on. this works fine for me
Yeah, I tried a few radios (with dlls). Didn't help.
Data connection stays on, for hours. (without tweaking, which I find kind of strange).
As I said before, it's not an issue with disconnecting. Connection stays on, yet data is not being downloaded properly.
which data plan are you using?
Also can you navigate here and see if this is like your problem (post 22 and down):

Thanks
It's web'n'walk. (uk)
However, it's certainly not an issue with t-mobile, as it works exactly the same on '3' as well.
I'm running out of ideas here really. Seems like no one so far (including HTC tech support) had the same issue.
I think the only possibility is, that it is hardware related somehow.
Hi Volw, did you find a fix for this? This is happening to my bosses phone.
Hi... is it my impression or is you Touch HD's behaviour similar to this ?
Sorry for the link, but didn't want to repost...
I think you're not alone!
Have you tried a hard reset? In my case it solved until I disconnected from my home network again!
I hope I can help (so little) in detect the specific circumstances in which the error occurs....
My solution, since I had mine for less than 30 days was going to the shop where I bought mine, swaped for a brand new one and I kept for the firmware that came from factory... didn't flash for the current official rom (cooked roms are out of the question for now - with all do respect) and I'm very very reluctant in flashing my new TouchHD. I even flashed the first unit twice but I kept having the same problem.
Now I'm affraid of flashing this one and going back to the shop with a second phone in the same condition...
Still with the installed firmware from factory (previous from the current oficial) I still get a few minutes for it to "see" the active HSDPA connection after disconnecting Wifi!
Sorry if i deviated a bit from subject... just trying to help.
Regards,
MD
I have exactly the same issue. I've had my HD for about 6 weeks and the Wifi has always worked fine with my home network. But then suddenly one day last week it stopped working.
It's still connected, but no data is being transferred. I can't update the weather or browse the web.
I've tried playing with all the settings and connected to my neigbours unsecured wifi network, but still nothing works.
This is particularly annoying because data is not part of my contract, so wifi was my only way downloading files, updating things etc.
Anyone had any luck solving the issue yet?

Hi guys, I had exact the same problem.
I'm on O2 Germany network and figured out, that when disabling HSDPA and only using 3G I never had that problem anymore.
I mean although I had full HSDPA connection, Opera was sometimes able to load the Websites, but most of the time the loading failed (mostly the first page load was ok, but all other calls ended in a blank screen, or the "Could not locate remote server"...). This is pretty strange and I would love to use the HSDPA connection again, but for now disabling HSDPA is the only solution for me
greetz giniman
EDIT: I had this behaviour with the stock ROM and also with Dutty's V3.3 which I'm running right now. What I was thinking is, that maybe the auto switching between GPRS/3G/HSDPA is damaging the connection???
HTC HD / Blackstone connection issue
I have the same problem in SG - Opera does not load web page some times, even when the 3G/HSDPA icon is flashing on the top bar, and that the Data Connection in CommMgr is showing green.
I have to click on the Data Connection in CommMgr again (which will not go off), and the connection back up again.
These happen to other internect connectivity as well. Usually happen in the first connection (of each app) to the internet after I restart the phone.
