Hi all,
After installing pocketmusic, i realised that all the mp3s were automatically played through that application rather than windows media player. I also have pocketMax phonealarm installed on my today screen, and have set mp3 ringtones (which used to work!!!).
Since i've installed that stupid pocketmusic, all i hear now is a "beep" and a "vibrate" every 3 seconds instead of my mp3s. I then realised that pocketmusic is at fault and as a result decided to uninstall it. Now, whenever i play mp3s through file explorer, it opens up in wmplayer but gives me an error for some reason (i think this means mp3s don't have a default assigned program to open up in). However, the mp3s can be played when opened from wmplayer.
I've tried everything...using rescoe explorer, i've set wmplayer as default but it gives me the same error.
Please help
Thanks,
Simon

please make your way to the above url, sign up, log in and download the fix and manual that explains the process. I will be applying the fix myself today.
Isnt imusic a killer app?. The sound quality is incredible.
http://imusic.citsoft.net/eng/download.asp
thats the location of the download itself.
And I tried the fix, it works.
umm no...i don't have imusic. This is a very different problem...
oh hey lol, thanks...
All fixed now
I have been setting up my mogul to be used as an MP3 player but I have run into some issues that are driving me nuts.
WMP - Plays the first 30 seconds of a song and then skips to the next track. On the plus side it continues to play in the background while I surf the web or do other things.....
TCPMP and Core player - Plays MP3s wonderfully (no skipping to the next track). But when another program is accessed/opened both TCPMP and Core player will stop playing music and close itself.
I have spent the last two days looking for a remedy on any of these players, but have come up with nothing.
Anyone have any input on this issue? Thanks in advance!
Sprint Mogul
ROM: DCD 3.1.2
Radio: 3.39.10
i use mort player. its great and free. google it and get a good skin.
how do you move to using other programs like surfing ?
if you click the x it could be that those 2 programs really close rather then minimize
if you can try clicking start and choosing desktop and see if they still stop playing

Tired it. It keeps playing while its minimized (at the desktop), but as soon as I open another program it quits. Thanks for the suggestion!
Found The Problem
Well I found the problem....Hope this helps anyone with the same problem...
Started disabling apps one at a time until I found the culprit.
It was: HTC TaskManager 2_1_33556_1 Large Icon
Once I disabled this everything started working fine.
This was an OEM I loved and I added to DCD's kitchen... Looks like I am flashing to get rid of it!
Ok so I never really cared about music... but my new job (yes got a new yob during a recession!!!!! was only laid off errrr 3 week vacation as I see it...)
anyway...
I now have to take the train to philly... and I listen to music on my mogul...
I tried TCPMP but I dont have stuff setup as a playlist yet....
I then used Media Player which was easy... but for some reason it kept on randomly changing songs....
the audio manager in the rom i am using was working then started acting up.. but now im trying a new rom Titan Reloaded M2D 1.4 beta 2 by bitserve
so gonna try using the touch flo music part.. has a shuffle so will see...
anyway what do you recommend?
media player was easy... and you can rate the songs.. but no way to play your list by rating....
i just dont want an ipod... I used to carry all kinds of stuff... pda, cell, external gps, etc.. now I have it all in 1... and love it...
for videos I use WMP. but for songs I use S2p that works almost like the Itouch. just play lists not too sure about.
for WMP. I usually like to put the music in different folders on the card by genre. que them up and make a playlist so on and so forth.

i did install s2p before I left for work.. so far it is cool... can turn mogul off and it still plays....
minimal features but has what I want so think it is a winner...
thanks!
Jeff
since we are talking about s2p, has anyone had a problem where it takes s2p like 3-5 seconds to load a song everytime the song changes. What also came with that problem is that it takes a lot longer for s2p to close andbring me to the home screen. I just sit at a black screen sometimes for 10 seconds till i get to the home screen. If anyone has a solution i would love to hear it
edit: all my files are organized in a nice structured format sdCard/music/BandName/Album/track i dont know why its doing it but its definitely weird
edit(2/26/09): i uninstalled s2p cleared all reg values and everything with skTools and reinstalled s2p and works fine again.
i am not too sure. I loaded mine on the card but other than that ot too sure.
Nitrogen
You can also check out Nitrogen. I really like the program and can be found on the "Development and Hacking" on the main page if you search for it.
I prefer to use Media Player. I program S2U2 to button 5, so I just start my music, hit button 5, and my phone turns off quickly and my music keeps on playing. The media player is much more palatable with a skin.
I am assuming you checked your shuffle button on media player to make sure it is not on?
everytime i try to go to the music section the whole mp3 app crashes with an error massage?!
other problems: everytime i try to connect to twitter or weather theres a massage warning me about data roaming and after that there's a connection error.
I can though surf on the internet!
i got the audiomanager_eng.exe error fixed, but still i cannot connect to hotmail, weather or twitter, while i can connect to facebook, or youtube. wtf?
How did you fix it, mine still crashes!

you are not allowed to copy music from pc to your sd card, but you have to put your sd card into the hd2, connect it to the pc and after that copy your music on it
The audiomanager does have issues with some tracks. Why im not sure yet. My blackstone with manila 2.5 also had an issue, but it didnt crash it, it just wouldnt advance through the tracks and slowed the player to a complete crawl. Im guessing its the way they were encoded or something wrong with the tagging that the manila player doesnt like.
I re-encoded the tracks and let the phone create its own album art, that seemed to work ok.

first it seemed so.. but it crashed again :S but now i know that it's the fault of some mp3 files... i copied only 30 of 56 albums and its working fine... so i have to copy 10 by 10 to see which mp3 file is causing it... sry for the wrong info.
I just noticed that if you press the update album art button in top right corner it starts working again and plays 10 or 15 seconds more of the track and then crashes

I used MP3val to fix my collection, googled it after someone mentioned it as a possible solution. Did the trick for me, it's working now.
Complete steps in my case:
- format SD from HD2
- sync albums from WMPlayer by ActiveSync for correct folderstructure
- ran MP3val on Music folder on SD, fixed errors
Hope it helps!

Yep your right! Iv had to resort to putting the device in drive mode when plugged into pc and do a soft reset after each album, but the album art and songs are sure worth it

Will give it a go if I come across the issue after this method
Hi --
I seem to have the same issue. Audio Manager crashes on certain songs/albums and restarts Sense automatically. Soft reset doesn't change this. I have also edited all tags to make sure there are no comments/genres etc using mp3tag. Still music player will crash on the same song/album. WM plays just fine. Has anyone played with registry settings to fix this bug in HTC audio manager?
HD 2 Audio Manager and HTC messaging
I was so happy to have been able to purchase this device while on a recent trip to Hong Kong. To my surprise, I was unable to create text messages. I could see the incoming texts but when I hit the reply icon, the screen went "black". I could turn on the keyboard, but could not see anything in the black space above.
At the same time, there was a problem with the HTC music function. With the exception of the two sample songs, nothing else would play. The Windows Media Player worked but was a far cry from what I thought I was getting via HTC Sense technology.
I then erased the audio manager and to my surprise, the HTC Messaging worked flawlessly. When I reinstalled the audiomanager, the problem returned to the HTC Messaging.
Can you help sort this out?
Thanks for anything you can provide.
audiomanager or sms
Got the same problem here... I Installed the audiomanager (it does fix the audiomanager problem)...but I can't send sms cause the screen went black blank....
I tried remove the audiomanager application...and the sms function back to normal...but at the same time...the music player come with audiomanager problem again...
It's like we can only choose one of them...normal sms or fixed audiomanager.(it's really pissed me off)
please help me...

This is the ultramate sloution for me! works just fine!
THX a lot!
My situation:
-music player from Manila 2.5 worked for several month and suddenly came to the same problem as we talking about here.
-Downloaded mp3val and scanned .mp3 in my storage card, then fixed them.
-After that, everything works fine like before.
Well I ca't believe that after all this time it's fixed. I suffered this problem with my diamond and thought that it would be resolved in the hd2, only to find after loading alll my music the problem was back, I assumed it was one of the albums that was drm causing it so removed it and deleted the .vol. Problem was still there then I removed all wma and aac files still there and then I found this post scanned and fixed with mp3val and all is well.
Bloody great thanks for the tip.

Does anyone know an other way to refresh the music player library, than having to softreset the device?
Maybe a solution would be to just reloud the sense today plugin, but i haven't found an easy way to do that eighter.
Any idea is welcome. I really don't wanna softreset my device everytime I downloaded a podcast. I have to softreset enough as it is every time it crashes.
Greetings

Well, one way is to launch Windows Media Player, go to its library and reindex media.
when on the music tab click "library" then go into artists and select what you want to listen to. seems to work on mine without having to reindex
