Unlocking MDA

Hi all,
I have MDA (XDA) from Austrian T-Mobile with ROM version 3.13.12 GER. I would like to unlock my device but I am not sure if this ROM-upgrade will work with my device. Can somebody give me a help?

There is no reason why it shouldnt work. Make sure you back your existing rom by sd method before proceeding.

You need to get XDA2Unlock, just go into the right forum.
But it's quite easy. I did a unlock real fast. took me a few minutes (it was brand new, so I didn;t need to make backups.)

The best ROM for unlocking your MDA I is the english 3.17.03 SER (Special Edition ROM) which has the XDA-Unlock tool built-in.
Then i would recommend a cooked version of the German T-Mobile ROM 4.00.33 with some nice Tools already included...
If you can't find the ROMs, I can help you to find them ;-)

I need help getting my ROM back to WWE!!!

I made quite the mistake yesterday. I have an MDA compact that came from T-Mobile Germany and originally had german as the default language. It was easy to change to english by going to regional settings & selecting english.
So I didn't think twice about using a German T-Mobile ROM upgrade - and now I'm stuck with GERMAN!!! Regional settings doesn't change the language any more! what the heck?
Sooooo, I need a WWE .exe ROM that will load - I tried a UK WWE and I was told by the installer that I had the wrong language and install could not continue. Is there a way to go back to WWE? I don't care at this point what version.....
Also, I have downloaded from the FTP server other ROM versions but they are all .nb1 files and, despite my best efforts, I can't understand the proper way to install these. I've looked thru lots of posts and found one set of instructions but they were very hard to understand. HELP!!

Yes, for me its stable... I used both of them, but I think, 550 is more friendly, but I couldn't know your taste...
If I remember well, 550 is a Qtek S100 rom, 172 is an Orange or something else.

yeah that right jorde, ur memory is good.
but most of people in this forum says that v1.12 is not stable due to gprs and bluetooth problems & and it also used more memory than the old version. Is that true?
btw jorde, did u know how to update the caller id? because it says dll file is being used unable to update the callerID. Even after I restating, still being used. can u help me with it. thanks..

I think, everybody on this forum always want to use the best and the newest SW... For me its ok, I had only a little bluetooth problem, for my bluetooth gps I need COM8 port, but XDA mini has COM5 by default, but I got a good program (GPSGate) to make it virtually.
But the bluetooth by itselves absolut ok.
For me, Caller ID is no problem, Phone --- Tools----- Option----- Caller ID, and it works without problems.
Perhaps, some other program use it.

Put new Rom Artemis ?? problem

i have artemis (mda compact 3) with dutch language inside , i tryed to install these rom's from the ftp site,,
HTC English HTC__001 ver:1.11.405.1 boot: 1.11.0000
HTC English HTC__001 ver :1.12.405.1 boot : 1.12.0000
Dopod English DOPOD001 ver :1.25.707.2 boot: 1.25.0000
T-Mobile English T-MOB005 ver: 1.13.110.1 boot : 1.13.0000
But all of this 4 rom's the mda dont accept it !!
Then i go to imei-check.uk for unlock my device,
after unlocking i can write only 2 rom's the Dopod english rom and t-mobile english rom..
why i can not write the HTC rom's ????
please help me abouth this

We need more information in order to help you.
What kind of error message you get? When do you get it? How did you try to flash the device?

I get vendor id problem,
it like's cid locked,
but i can flash the other 2 roms, that means is cid unlocked ,,
??

Wlan affected by new rom ?

Now I have two questions :
a) does your MDA have Wlan ?
Does it work ?
b) If you flash another rom,
is the wlan affected ?

i flashed my hero(no wlan module) with the orig dopod p800w rom from the wiki a couple of weeks ago. ..and no, sorry to say, but even though the p800w software comes with all thats needed for wlan, wlan does not work once i flashed it.

At the moment I can only give you an answer to your first question: Yes, in the Netherlands the MDA Compact III is sold with a working Wlan.
The second question is a little bit more difficult for me to answer. I am waiting until someone in this thread confirms that it is possible to flash alternative ROM's, preferably HTC ROM's, into the device. At the moment I have a phone with the OS in the Dutch language but I prefer an English one.

sorry for the pun, but seems reading is a little difficult for some too!
i am running a rom from a vendour manufacturing a machine with wlan, as i stated a message earlier! there is no wlan possible with it! in addition there is a thread in this forum where a hero has been opened and a wlan module could not be found! how much longer do you want to wait till your horse can fly?
and once more, once you cid-unlock your machine, you can install all compatible roms from other manufacturers, i.e. a wwe rom (english) to a german machine!

Check Wiki for upgrading problems

Search with hexedit in *.nbh for"ARTE1000" or "ARTE1***" and change it to "ARTE****" try to flash again.btw. Are u superCID?

Hi, I am exactly in the same situation, same thing with 3% hanging...
I have a german XDA O2, it came with german language and I tried to flash it with DOPOD ROM --> bricked! Just bootloader mode now...
As far as I "studied", I don't see any possibility for us at the moment, just to call IMEI-CHECK people and ask for their help...
Any further or better idea on the issue?

My mda III compact is from Germany, with german language, also
The same situation.
I had mda III before, german version, and xda forum solved all my problems about flashing. I cant belive that we are helpless now

Just go on the website:

and contact the guys via email, my opinion is that you need to send them the PDA and also pay something like 50 or 60 UK pounds to have it fixed and back to life...

is it possible to get original rom from t-mobile, or to buy it somewhere, on the web?

l have the same problem and it seems hopeless by flashing a new rom .... and also by unlocking cid .. need to be mda is on ..its just works with activesync on xp .. if l get a solution, l ll tell here

MDA Compact 3 III GERMAN ROM bricked solution
Hi, everybody !
I flashed many PPC PE & not PE, different langueage, etc.
this problem is not only with GER MDA compact 3, but with other like fe. ENG T-Mobile too,
and is no problem flashing and bringing life any ENG MDAc3 bricked with Dopod or other new ROM (Dopod, PDAMobis ROMs are good!),
the solution is about simple: we need now GERMAN ROM from T-Mobile
because it worked on CIDlocked devices.
But we need a whole ROM (RUU_.... .nbh) provided by GERMAN T-Mobile as RomUpgradeUtility for GER & in GER not only Windows.nb !!!
Because i have one T-Mobile with bootloader only i serched few nights on many portals for this RUU and foud nothing at this time.
If anybody want to colaborate and need help with flashing just write. I have about 10GB flashes but no mdac3ger (...not yet)
Please don't write: I need very fast the sollution ! Just help people working on this. Find something helpful.

Anybody found this ROM? MDA Compact 3 III GERMAN ROM I think is on the www.tmobile.de but you have to purchase a MDA from them and you have acces on the support....

German T-Mobile WM5 ROM
Have a look at the xda-dev ftp in the following directory:
XDA-DEV FTP -> "Uploads/Upload/Official MDA Compact III ROM/MDA Compact III German.exe"
It took me some time to find it on the ftp, so make sure you enter the correct path! I think this is a German T-Mobile WM5 ROM, but I'm not sure.
Please confirm it here, when you have checked it!

English ROM for German Orbit 2?

Hi all,
I am SO eager to buy an O2 XDA Orbit 2 from Germany but I am kinda a bit too uneasy...
I will need to re-flash an English ROM to it. Either O2 UK's or HTC Touch Cruise's.
Does anyone know for sure that it can be done by simply re-flashing the ROM? No extra hacks needed?
And are these English ROMs available on the net yet?

I mean that I used to re-flash ROM upgrades to my Atom Life "just like that".
What if this ROM doesn't accept the Device ID of the German Orbit 2?

A number of users have flashed this rom on orbit II after hard spl and seems to be working fine. but i suggest you spend a couple of minutes going over the thread in any case. it's always useful.

do hardspl from olipro the geatest.
flash ROM
UR now fully WWE
PS: backup UR cab files from original rom first (operator settings....) they are in \windows\ - Polaris doesnt have extRom.

Apparently it seems that you will have to hard SPL to flash. But is is quite simple, so don't worry ;-)

Don't worry, mate, I did just that two days ago. I had bought an XDA Orbit2 from O2 Germany and I hated the German ROM (actually I hate localized software even though English is not my mother tongue).
So what you do is really simple and there is no chance anything to go wrong:
1) Install HardSPL from olipro (you can find it in this forum somewhere)
2) Install the official (not the dumped one) WWE (World Wide English) ROM from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368123
And that's it! Enjoy a "native" interface!
Later on you will be able to upgrade to any ROM by simply installing it over the previous one. The HardSPL step you do only once

I used "Hard-SPL-V2.zip" from your given link and "RUU_Polaris_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_radio_sign_25.65.3 0.04_1.58.21.23_Ship.exe" as English rom.
Only TomTom was gone and is not working after new installation as advised in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1929057
but now my GPS device is not giving any signals.
