Hi all, I am an old HTC Universal user but new to Artemis. Just trying to flash my first Artemis with the HTC ship ROM but got a device ID error at the beginning of the flashing. Does any one know where to find the no ID RUU upgrade program because I am not sure if the Universal no ID RUU can be used for Artmes or not? Or perhaps I will need to pay and unlock the CID by using IMEI Check web site? For HTC Universal the unlocking software is free...
Thanks in advance!
u need 2 pay 2 imeicheck, although i start a thread how to flash 2 cid locked dev. its name is somth like how to flash any cid locked artemis... or check my posts

Hello..i am a newbie in flashing the rom. I have read many posts regarding on how to flash the rom. My questions are :
1. Do I need to use the unlocking CID program before I flash the rom or should I just flash it using the NoVendor rom?
2. If I don't use the unlocking CID, will I able to reflash the rom again back to other versions or downgrade to the one I am having now?
Currently the rom I have now is is German language in which I cannot understand at all. I wanna switch to English version. Your help are greatly appreciate.
Thanx
no one can help me???pleasssseeeeeeee
Instead of waiting and bumping your own post .. why don't you do a search?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=49913&highlight=
In general, you need to CID unlock your device before any flashing. You need to unlock it after every hard reset too.
No harm CID unlocking your phone anyway. However, it may harm you if you don't CID unlock it.
but I still don't understand what's the different between CID unlock and NoVendor rom..from what i read from this forum, CID unlock is important cause it enable users to change/upgrade the rom. but there aren't any information that said what does the NoVendor rom does (or maybe I didn't see it).
so if the NoVendor rom is similar to the CID unlock, then i guess i dun need to use the CID unlock?or should i still use it?
Briefly, if you just want to upgrade your ROM to other vender's newer ROM, you could use that Machinegod's NoVendor ID upgrade utility. If you are happy with that new ROM, then you don't have to unlock your device's CID.
However, if you need to downgrade your device to other vender's older ROM, then you will have to unlock its CID first. Otherwise, the utility will tell that it can upgrade only. The major benefit from unlocking CID is you can up/downgrade your device to any vender's ROM.
Problem is that there is no reliable utility to unlock the CID for device with AKU2 ROM yet except that from Thailand website. Read more details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=52244
Hope this helps.
This utilities won't work with the last dopod rom SPL 2.15.
This rom is great but if you choose to upgrade to it, you won't be able to change until another downgrade tool is released.
gee..thanx a lot....i will try to upgrade it now.really thanx a lot...
Noobs beware!
As a number have been flashing their devices with various roms not from their own carrier or country or cooked roms and bricking their device - I put up this sticky. Your device must be cid unlocked first before you do this. This applies to the coming wm6 roms to - if the rom is not specific to your device - i.e. if you try to flash the upcoming htc 3300 wm6 rom on O2 orbit - you must cid unlock first - with imei check or you will end up with a BRICK!
This does not apply if you are only updating the os http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299154 or radio.
cid = country id i.e. locked to that country/language/vendor
cid unlock for the artemis is here with USPL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403 (thanks pof)
or here http://www.imei-check.com/c3unlock.php (costs though)
Bricked devices
If you have flashed your device and not cid unlocked it, your device maybe salvagable if you can get it into bootloader mode.
Hold down the voice speed dial button and soft reset - you should then enter bootloader mode 'multicolored' screen'
If you do, attach device to pc via usb cable (a small usb will appear bottom left of screen) and flash factory rom. (run rom executable or RUU updater from pc) You do not need to be activesynced to do this.

Before you flash again with a non-factory rom, your device MUST be cid unlocked.
If you cannot enter bootloader mode your bootloader has been damaged and your device will need to be sent away for repair.

You do need the factory rom for your device and then flash it from bootloader mode. Contact the dealer you bought your phone from or htc denmark.

Whoops!
Just a little too late! Anyone want to buy a bricked XDA Orbit? ;-)
Does anyone here work for the carriers? Can they provide an official O2 ROM to fix out bricked Orbit?

Its only truely bricked if the bootloader is damaged - if you can get into bootloader mode you can salvage with the factory rom.

Well you need the factory rom from o2 - o2 have not released it so there is a problem. I have not found any links to download this rom or a link to a dumped rom. I will ask others in the team if they know a link and let you know.
Did you manage to get into bootloader mode?

Yeah the device goes into the bootloader mode. If you could find out where i can get the factory rom from that would be great. Also if i could have instructions how to upload the rom in the bootloader mode i would really appreciate it.

Unless you have unlocked you're device via imei check - you're device will still be cid locked.

Is there any chance a tool will be released in the future which allow you to unlock your device for free?
I noticed that for other devices such tools are available.

Someone out there with a HTC P3300 German ROM ? I would be very pleased if someone could provide a link.....
Hi,
Nice idea by planeta : USPL working through bootloader
Would fix every bricked phone, but not possible says the creator POF.
So short : bricked CID locked phones only re-flashable with original rom!
I saw for the wizard there is a CID unlock tool (see Wizard forum) and for some devices even 'unbrick tools'. A pity that we cannot do anything more with our bricked CID locked P3300, but waiting for the P3300 original dutch rom.
Damn stupid that HTC didn't deliver the original rom on CD!
Isn't there any HTC worker that can suply it? The net is full of roms, only the dutch one is missing, all bricked dutch HTC owners have to send it in for repair = extra work & costs for HTC... Better supply CD or download with original dutch rom from site!
I wonder if you can unlock phone with imei check when your phone is allready bricked? If any other 'unbrick' solutions, please let me know, but i don't hope for it anymore
Cheers,
Innovator

I think that is the solution for some bricked phones after updates with locked CID.
Sorry but not possible, it first transfers patched SPL through activesync and places it on phone memory, and needs WinCE for that. If you already have a brick that tool will not help you. POF.
Hi,
I've a new HTC Tytn from Vodafone Portugal that came with WM5 and was thinking to upgrade to WM6 with the original ROM from HTC will this be possible or this phone is locked to the Vodafone rom (CID) ? Is it possible to read the current CID?
Thk's
You need to flash the HARD-SPL bootloader regardless of your CID status... It helps prevent bricks and also CID unlocks the phone. Please use the search....
Ok SH4YD33, thanks for your answer. But without flashing the Rom, is it possible to read the CID directly from the phone?
Thanks.
Hard spl is not a OS or RADIO Flash. It is the bootloader. It will not effect anything you have saved in your phone.
if that is what you're concerned with.. I'm unaware of a way to read the CID.. Maybe Olipro can chime in on that subject..

USE MTTY. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_BootLoader
TASK 32 will tell you if you're superCID or not and
INFO 2 will tell you the which CID you're locked to (if any).

normal rom update or downgrade will do nothing with simlock....
r u kidding?
any news from olipro
How could we know if olipro is still working on unlocking blackstone devices ?
ah in reply to that question. we made it with Olipro... see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521206
To sim unlock your device or to security unlock (not the same thing) you will need to use Olipro's unlock tool which can be found here.
HSPL or USPL do not unlock your device. HSPL & USPL allows you to bypass the HTC certificate check and flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone.
HSPL is permanent while USPL is a temporary solution.
