Is there a way to check on the phone (T-Mobile MDA G3) to see if the CID is already unlocked? I think mine might be and i don't wanna bother running lokwiz if i don't have to..
Thanks,
Simple way: try to flash a non-T-Mobile ROM! If it starts it is unlocked - if not it will tell ya: WRONG SELLER ID or stuff like that and will not flash!
If you do not want to flash you can use lokiwiz0.2b (which works best on G# T-MO USA) to unlock. In case it is already unlocked nothing will happen!
Simpler way: use a tool that reads the CID block and reports the CID status

I would not suggest trying to flash a rom when the device could be cid locked - this could leave you with a brick.
Run lokiwiz0.2b and it will tell you if its locked or unlocked - it may just say successfully unlocked but thats good enough for me.
thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

CID unlock
Could someone send a file with extension unl, which was normally provided by imei-check to unlock your device.
It may bring a good idea to spl modification.
Thanks in advance.

hi to all
cid unlocking is same with sim unlocking
i am wrong ?
i will pay money but i will work my phone wiht all simcards

CID unlock is not the same as SIM unlock.
if we talk about imei-check service they do the both.
you can read it here:
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/c3unlock.php
you can use any sim card.
Good job I saw this thread, I was going to do mine tonight!!

They work great, Desimlock the artemis and "uncidlock"

I think if you're able to flash your device with a ROM from HTC, DOPOD or O2... its CID unlocked...

Duhh... wouldn't it be better to find out before trying to flash any ROM? Suppose you think the device is unlocked but actually it isn't, then you might end up with a bricked phone.

CoolGadget,
If I had the original T-mobile Rom then I would've just taken the risk but I don't and that's why I'm a little worried.
I'm still looking for it but it seems like it doesn't exist anywhere!
If anyone can help me out then I'd really appreciate it.
Regards.

T-Mobile ROM
The original T-Mobile ROM is available on T-Mobile website amongst many others. I really dont think there is another way to confirm you have CID-unlocked your set, unless you flash it.
Though the report of many who have used imei-check seems to suggest it gets CID-Unlocked

I allways thought it would be possible by running the mtty program. Wasn't the command Info 2 for getting the status? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I haven't tried it though, because my phone is certainly locked and I don't want to pay for getting it unlocked.
info 2 and info 4 do not work for the Artemis.
Guys thanks for your replys. I've managed to track down the original Tmobile ROM for the MDA 3 (thanks to some guys here). so now I'll be using imei check to unlock it, once done, I'll go ahead and install any ROM other than Tmobile and if it works then I'll know my device is CID unlocked. If it doesnt then I have the Tmobile ROM to fall back on.
Hopefully it will work otherwise I'll be getting in touch with imei check immediately!
Thanks for your help guys.

ok.. I got the IMEI unlocker and ran it, and it went through the whole process and appears sucessful, how do I check and see if my phone is unlocked?
Just put in a SIM from another network provider - that should proof it! If your phone is unlocked it should work, if not it will ask you to enter the unlock code!
That applies with the CID unlocker I used from IMEI check? or is that just SIM unlock?
Well, you did not clearify what UNLOCK you were reffering to! The CID unloack you won't know unless you actually try to reflash your device with a non-provider ROM ...
Thanks for the help though, I flashed my device succesfully and am a proud WM6 user now.

Is calling or emailing in ATT to get a unlock code the same as CID unlocking? or would I need to hack my 8525 to CID unlock it so I can add Different ROMS???
When you instal HardSPL your device is CID unlocked. It means that you can flash any Rom to your device. However, it is still SIM locked. Fot that you need to go to the Hermes Upgrading Forum.

if all you want to do is add new roms, use HardSpl v7, its a sticky at the top of the hermes mobile 6 or hermes upgrading sub-forums.
it fools the program into thinking your super cid without actually being super cid.
anyone please correct me if i'm wrong.
I think this answerers my question and worry about just running my phone as is and upgrading later if I want.
I keep reading later 8525's are impossible to sim unlock once they have been turned on once, so I was leery of even running the phone as is... but now since I know I DON'T have to sim unlock it to flash roms then I'm not going to worry about the unchangeable radio rom.
Yeah, you've read right - I want to CID-Lock my device. Because of some reception issues, i have to send it for repair. I've still warranty on it, but it's unlocked by imei-check.co.uk, so I have to lock it again. Anyone knows somethin'bout it?
Common guys, someone has to know something about it...

Perhaps you'll have to request imei-check.co.uk to send you the locking code
if you had CID unlocked through lokiwiz,it wud have been easy by restoring back the cid_locked.bin with lokiwiz which it creates at the time of Cid unlocking.
Yeah but the problem was, that I have a G4 Device, so it didn't work with lokiwiz, at the time.
Lokiwiz tool does not CID unlock a G4 device, however, you can SIM unlock a G4 device by lokiwiz 0.3 version,it provides you with a SIM unlock code.
Anyway, have you upgraded your phone to any wm6 custom Rom or still on official carrier's OS,which came pre-installed on it ? if you are still on the official Rom,then don't assume that the vendor will have any doubts about it being CID unlocked. But if you upgraded then you got a problem there. If you graded,as it's already CID unlocked, may be if you flash the official carrier's Rom which was pre installed,it might get away with it,well it's a give and take situation, but gonna have to take some risk now.
Cheers

Have a look the-equinox's thread about HardSPL stickied in the G4 thread and also at my tutorial on how to remove HardSPL stickied to the top of the G4 thread. I don't know if it is the same concept and procedure but if my thread will help you then it's worth a try.
Good luck.
Seeing how Bepe's WM6.1 ROM requires HardSPL, does this mean all Polaris are CID locked?
Are there any issues when upgrading (like IPL/SPL problems on G3 vs G4 Wizards) that I should be aware of?
Thinking about getting a Polaris but just want to see what I'm getting myself into first. I personally have a G3 Wizard so I never really had to worry as much about bricking my phone.
If not all Polaris are CID locked, is there a way to tell if it is on the spot?
Also have some general questions on purchasing in the General Polaris forum here (600 for a LNIB Polaris Too good to be true?)
Polaris is not CID locked, basically.
If you buy a Polaris marked by a carrier (like O2 or Telecom) that should be CID locked, but where's the problem again? We have CID unlocker!

This is not true... Polaris is not SIM locked, basically.
But... all devices are CID-locked, until you use hard-SPL of course!

A few of us fortunate ones were able to get a pre-release Polaris which were not CID locked, but this was very limited quantities shipped to distributors for initial evaluations. The way to tell on the spot, as per your original questin is to invoke bootloader and read the SPL. Mine came with a MFG SPL, not a fixed version. It is highly unlikely that any unit bought from general retail woul be such a device, but that is how you would check it.
Excuse me mates, but he is asking about CID locked, not SIM locked.
CID = Carrier ID that means that if the phone is CID locked it is linked to a Carrier (ie Vodafone, Orange, etc etc) and you can use only that carrier's SIM
I bought my Polaris from Mediamarkt (they have tons of) and is NOT linked to any carrier (i can put whatever SIM form whatever carrier in it) so is CID unlocked.
We r saying the same things mates. I call CID what u call SIM.
Farewell

So basically, what's the difference between CID-Unlocker and Sim-Unlocker, because we have thoses 2 here?
Ther eis no difference, they r the same.
Really do we have a CID and a SIM unlocker?
I bet we have only 1
This is all utter bull****!
CID lock is completely different to a SIM lock. All devices coming from HTC are CID locked to prevent you from loading a non-genuine ROM onto the device. SIM lock has nothing to do with CID lock bud. My orbit 2 is CID but not SIM locked, it's not connected. But there are Polaris out there (no orbits/dopods but Touch Cruises) which are sold branded and SIM locked and of course, CID locked.
SIM is NOT the same as CID. It never was and will never be.

There are devices which dont feature a SIM lock, they work with all SIMs out there on all networks. But they all are CID locked. Those devices can be unlocked to eat custom ROMs using the HardSPL. The HardSPL skips the check the original loader does when you try to load a ROM onto the device.
But there are devices which are supposed to be locked to the carrier you bought it from. Very much like the American iPhone: it's (well, it should be ) tied to AT&T and doesnt eat custom SIM cards. For that case Olipro created the second unlocker available, is a combined solution. Its the HardSPL (letting you flash a custom ROM) with a SIM-unlocker (which will let you use any SIM) strapped on top. Since I have a CID locked only device, I didnt look into the unlocker that deeply, but I don't even know if it features the function to leave the SPL alone and only SIM-unlock your device... But, to be brutally honest, who around xda-dev is interested in that

I was a minute ahead to post the link to the explanations in the WIKI for wonderjuy (sorry, don't take it personal)
Oh no, my post wasnt meant in any offending way. But I'm quite sorry, its kind of hard to nicely explain it after so many very determined wrong statements of wonderjuy. But yeah, don't take it personal and the correct information can be found in the WIKI.
Seems that I used wrong words - so please:
Accept my apologize if I offended somebody!
