Help my M700 displays the owner id and not the device id when connected to another bluetooth device
any idea on how to swap this so bluetooth displays device id
From a recent post on 4WM:
By default the Bluetooth name is set to the Owner name. However the Bluetooth name can be set to something else in the registry. In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Settings There is a text string "LocalName". Change this to what you want for the Bluetooth name. Soft reset the device (doesn't work without the reset). The name now shows up as the value in this setting.
Hope this helps. You will need a registry editor to make the change.

I noticed that when my JAM has BT on it is detected as XXX (were XXX is my owner name on my JAM's Owner Info).
While looking around in my registry I found this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Settings
under this I see 3 things.
(Default) (value not set)
LocalName XXX
ScanMode 0x0(0)
My question is this can I safely change the value of LocalName to my liking? i.e. XXX to YYY and therefore change my JAM's BT name???
You could just change the Device Id through the settings menu.
But is also safe to change the registry key
It's true that in the settings menu you can change your device ID. But that is just visible in ms active sync.
As BT device the i-mate JAM is recognized by the user information as described in the first post ! I don't know if it can be changed by a registry hack ! Are not into that ! ;o\

Has anyone found a way to get the carrier name in the today screen?
There is a registry hack somewhere which shows the state of the radio and the carrier name, do a search.
I found how to do it...anyone interested here are the instructions...
Customize operator's name
To show specified operator name set
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\ONSDisplayRule=0 (DWORD decimal)
And then at
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\RIL\Operator Names
add the code and the name to display. The value is 5 digits "CCCOO", where CCC is 3-digits country code, and OO is 2-digits operator's code. For example:
"25099"="BEE LINE"
For country and network code, go to wikipidea for mobile country code and network code
To show operator name based on the SIM card used (eg for cases where dual SIM adapter are used), set
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\ONSDisplayRule=1 (DWORD decimal)
For my dual-SIM adaptor, when I switch between SIMs, the phone with default settings showed always one and the same name, until I reboot the device. Then, it was not able to retrieve operator's name from one of the SIM cards I use. Probably it is an adaptor fault. But anyway, after I changed ONSDisplayRule to 0 and set more up-to-date names for operators that I use, I now always see the name of the operator of the chosen SIM.
Change the "Message Sent" and other general notification bleep
This will change the sound of other pop-up messages as well as SMS sent bleep. The default sound is the `msgbox.wav` in the \Windows directory. To change it, go to
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Default
And change to the names of other wav files in your \Windows directory without the `.wav` extension.
AKU2 ROMs tweaks
These are tweaks that have been confirmed to work on AKU2 ROMs, and confirmed not to work on earlier ROMs
Show Wireless Today item
By just adding following keys to the registry will get you a nice 'wireless' today item that show Network name/status, WiFi name/status as well as Bluetooth status. Confirmed to work on AKU2 ROMs
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
Temporary?
Hi,
Thanks for the tip. I did the change and it worked. I could see the carrier name on my today screen. But after I soft-reset PPC, I see the carrier number 'xxxxx' instead of the name.
Am I missing something?
Please help.
~Squid
Edit- This is strange, but the tweak seems to be working for now, even after a couple of soft-resets. Will test further and keep posted. Thanks
easy way a program call OpMon by mortscript
Batterystatus can also display carrier name
While On Roaming
Will the text change when i am on Roaming...
Or is there any plugin to show the current location(area info) that is broadcasted by the mobile towers
how can i change the name that other people see my device through bluetooth? is there a way?
bluetooth device name is stored under
HKCU\software\Microsoft\bluetooth\settings\
value name is LOCALNAME
you can edit registry with total commander...
however easier way is to change ownername under
start, settings, personal, owner information
whatever you put into NAME field, will also be used as bluetooth name.
How can I change my name in registry . He show owners name when I make a connection. I d'nt like it. Now somebody where I can change it.

When you want 2 keep the owner name (ie when u have registrations for it, such as with oziexplorece), but change the BT name, you need to go into the registry.
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\settings\
Change the name on the "LocalName".
Close program (save settings), wait for 30 seconds (important!) and then give a softreset.
hy there,
does anybody know how to reset connection settings, other than hard reset?
I deleted everything I could in connection settings, but when I want to add a certain new connection, the message is "connection already exists"....
delete all relevant entries in the registry would be fine.
yes but where in the registry? current user, local machine or?or just type the name of the connection and search the registry?
solved that...
now, does anybody know how to export favorites from mozzila browser to the internet explorer browser of my trinity? I tried with sync but it does viceversa.
type the name of the connection you want to delete, in the "search/find" field of the registry editor. you will see all the keys with that name.
