Guys, I'd like to know how you all go about getting your Hermes and how much you pay for it.
Since I live in a country where is costs like $1000 for the Hermes, I was wondering what would be the best way to go about getting it for cheap like it is in the US and UK.
I tried asking a few of my friends in the states to pick up one of the cingular connections which offers an 8525 along with a 2 year contract for about $400, but that would mean they have to get an extra connection.
I've noticed that there are a lot of people who sell these kind of phones on ebay which have been unlocked for around the same price.
Is there anybody you guys would recommend? or is there any other way I can go about getting the 8525 or equivalent for around $400 Brand new.
Hope yu guys can help out ASAP. My friend in the US leaves in another 2 weeks. It has to reach him by then.

if you're using fido, i'm guessing you're in canada
some local cell phone places can get the hermes relatively for about 700CAD or so, usually the softbank japanese version
you could check craigslist for your area
e.g. vancouver.craigslist.org
see if you can search HTC or Cingular 8525
i'm lucky i got mine from ebay locally though

@ $5 x 24 = $120.00... Really? The only other place I saw that kind of a price was on Amazon where an 8528 was going for about $125.00 with a 2 year Voice and Data Plan from Cingular which at it's cheapest would cost you around $80.00 a month.
Hope somebody else can point me out to a good deal. I'd prefer the M3100. Like our Mr. Activ Moderator pof pointed out... it's looks neat

Yes it's true, around $120... but it's a two year contract. In total the monthly fee is $25 including only 12250 packets and free calls from 1am to 9pm inside the softbank network...

I want to swop my current xda for an xda mk2 and was just wondering if anyone knew a good way of doing this - I Emailed o2 coustomer support and they said that they weren't operating a trade in at the moment but to check back later. However, i'm impatient ;-). Is there anyone whos traded an xda in with a high street shop or will my best bet to be sell it on ebay? For reference for trade in etc, my XDA is the 64mb version with the latest official o2 ROM, unlocked thanks to the unlock utility from this very site, Good condition (natural wear and tear, marks around the infra red port but still works fine), still got box+manuals+cd+cradle+charger+leather case but not the headset (broke). Comes sim free (still got 1 onth left on 12month min. contract, but willing just to pay that).

I got my Jam from them - they were quite on the ball with everything.
With that free Jam on O2 that the have, you'd be better off than buying the phone SIM free, especially when you calculayte what a SIM-Free Jam will cost PLUS how much you spend on mobile phone each month.

They have the imate and qtek on all networks, about £30 on contract - qtek is same thing but with 2 years warranty instead of 1 on imate, so no question really. I have done this with 3 phones so far an have been happy. No contract ext..... so I am seeing the 8125 go for just over 400 on Ebay.....anyone know why I can buy one for a good price.....maybe get some type a warr or at least someone to call....Ebay is so NOT personal....

People over at Howard Forums swear by Mad Monkey Boy; he carries the Type 2 Wizards (i.e. Qtek 9100, iMate KJAM, T-Mobile MDA) which have slightly different exteriors than the 8125.
I think he was wanting something cheaper than $400.... That sight was showing the Wizard for $600 which you can buy locally for less than that. For best price check ebay and craigslist. I have noticed that the MDA is usually a little cheaper than the 8125 so if you do not care about the styling get the mda you can still put the 8125 rom on it if you wish.

I bought my Cingular 8125 in store and didn't renew/extend my contract at all. I just told them i wanted to buy it for $350 (it may be less now) which was the "buy me now" price and there were no problems.
got mine in march
paid £300 in total i ended up with:

Bluetooth GPS
and car pda holder which sticks to the windscreen

Its always poppin there wizards at around $400, some with even free shipping.
Its not auction, its an online store with a real checkout cart, shipping notification and tracking number. And ebay gives you a free buyer protection for the FULL amount!

a quick search on "8125" showed me some phones around $400-$445 shipped. And since its the 8125 for cingular you wont need to unlock it.
If at the time you search you dont find good deals on 8125, try searching for "MDA"
Trust me, this is ---THE--- way to go if you want a brand new cheap wizard without extending contract.

I have just received a brand new o2 XDA Exec today (insurance replacement) and do not need it as I have now replaced my xda with something else so before I go down the ebay route with stupidly high ebay fees, scammers etc I thought I would offer people here the chance to buy it.
All I have done since getting it at lunchtime is charge the battery fully, checked it is unlocked with 2 different UK sim cards (it is!) and left everything else in their respective wrappers.

It is BRAND NEW and they are still £500 or more new (if you can get hold of one!) so make me an offer and we can take it from there...
Another guy on here is selling a used one with a GSM / 3G fault for £195 btw so something above that would be a good place to start. I can also throw in a 1GB sd card if you need it too but I imagine you already have everything if yours has only just broke!

Mine Dopod900/Universal has just died.
195/200 pound or about SGD600 for a Universal is really a steal. I would be glad to have it.
I bought it at 3 times the price here in Singapore when it was out 2 years back. It is selling in Singapore about SGD100 more than the rest of the world when it was launched here just to have a local warranty, which gives me a lot of problem.
But, although yours has a warranty, in case of problem some months down the road, it would be a big problem for repair sending back to UK.
I hadn't thought about sending it overseas due to all the scams etc but if someone wants me to send it overseas then I will find out how much the postage is.

I have PM'd people who are interested and think I can send the xda exec via UPS or similar internationally ok.
If the buyer is UK based the xda will be sent via Royal Mail special delivery which includes insurance and gets to you next working day by 1pm.
I have sent my ebay id to those interested so you can check my details etc but please note no matter whether you are a UK or international buyer the money will need to clear my end BEFORE I send the xda as there are too many scammers out there.

It will work as a phone in U.K with many carriers, but only through UMTS (3G)
