reward for someone who can help me - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

Hello,
Do you thing anybody can sim unlock a Ameo for free and put a french rom on it if I reward him? If he want too much money I think we can all make a little donation.
I propose that because I think lot of people could be happy if anybody manage to sim unlock our Ameo or x7500 for free. And it could be also perfect if we can install modified rom or just roms with any language!
It's just an idea. What do you think about it?
Thanks

do you want sim unlock or device unlock, this is two different thing, device unlock allow you to install other ROMs, and sim unlock allow you to use other network sim.
I don't think that much people will want sim unlock program now, because DOPOD U1000 and HTC Advantage is already unlock, and people who bough the Ameo are likely to be T-mobile user anyway.

Thanks for your answer. I want both if it's possible, sim unlock and device unlock.

Sim unlock is very interesting.....
I'll get an Ameo - but intend to use it with my company SIM-Card which is vodafone...
Reason is that there are no PDA-phones available in our company - so I had to buy an Ameo on my private T-Mobile contract and want to switch phones - company phone with privat contract and vice versa.

you can get unlock code if you are with T-mobile, just phone them and request it. BTW, if you have been following my post, and you want to use the HSDPA on vodafone, it's a very bad idea, because you will miss all your calls

Can I use locked mda pro only as pocket pc ?

My mda pro is locked, can I still use it as pocket pc ??
whenever I start it without sim it only display T-mobile startup logo & dont go forward?
Tell me if its normal ? how can I use it as pda ??
thanks in advance for help.
Locked phones are in 99% of the cases stolen phones.
We don't do stolen phones here..
The behaviour you describe is NOT normal with the Qtek ROM.
Nor with the O2 ROM, I think.
You could perhaps reflash to a different ROM?

Thanks for your reply, sorry offence not meant but plz keep your stupid comments with yourself.
just now I hard-reset & yes it solved the problem...
However just to clear things, I bought this phone very cheap from uk locked to T-mobile with the hope that its unlocker tool will be available soon
It is definately not normal. From whom did you buy this phone from? You probably want to go back to the store and have it checked. Have you tried a hard/cold reset?
You said that it will not run without a sim, so have it ever run with a sim (t-mobile or not)? If it did run before, I rest my case. If not, the phone definately not behaving.

I feel that my comment was rightfully made.
This forum does not like stolen goods, and we do make others aware.
As for the term "Locked", I have seen this used on both "Subscriber Locked" and "Barred/Banned" phones.
You have a "Locked" phone that you wish to use without a SIM card.
I then assumed that you had a stolen device.
How ever, I still gave a good answer to your question:

Yes, I am aware of this. How ever, I do believe that T-Mobile unlocks the phones for a fee?

As I said; I have given you my best answer; try a different ROM.
My Qtek ROM has no problems letting me boot without a SIM card.
I allso believe that the O2 ROM will let you do this.
With this knowledge in hand, I suspect that the T-Mobile ROM could have some software restriction that disables the use of the device without a SIM card.
The way to solve the problem would then be to flash the device with a different ROM.
You could alternatively try to reflash with a newer T-Mobile ROM.
[Edit]Perhaps this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=38590?[/Edit]
So, the next time..
Please think twice before you refer to an answer as "stupid comment"?[/url]
If I start my O2 Exec without a SIM in it, I get a password entry box for the phone similar to the default one for my password-protected SIM, and there's a message saying that only emergency calls can be made ... blah blah..., but I can cancel this password screen and get to the Today screen and use the machine as normal. I think I press the Windows key on the keyboard to bring up the Start menu, from where I can choose the Today screen.
If your machine is locked by T-mobile in a way that means you can't get past a block screen then I'd say this is T-mobile protecting their investment if you don't have a valid SIM card.
Assuming you've tried a hard-reset already without success, you've got two options, I think:
- buy a PAYG SIM from T-mobile just to fool the machine
- flash the ROM to that of another provider (such as O2 UK) who doesn't impose a similar lock
Without knowing more about the T-mobile lock you're seeing it's hard to say more. I know that my O2 phone isn't locked permanently though.
Hope this helps.

Thus confirming my believes.
Thank you!
2 things :
- 1 : if tou want to unlock our MDA PRo call T-Mobile, pay £15, wait few days and you will have the code.
- 2 : normally there is no problem to use your Mda Pro as a PPC even if it is simlocked to T-Mobile. Just switch Off the telephone application. Try to put any simcard in, it does not matter anyway. If you're stuck with the boot screen your problem may be linked to a rom problem. Nothing to do with the simlock.
My MDA Pro SIM locked T-Mobile Germany works fine without any SIM card inserted.
Or to simplify get a t-mobile paygo sim from the uk.

Can Dopod U1000 make calls in Japan?

I know Dopod 900 and other 3G phones can be used in Japan as long as you have a 3G enabled SIM card from your home telco. How about the new U1000? If I buy one in Singapore can I use it during my trips to Japan? This is a major purchase decision point so please help if you can. Thanks!
I can confirm it works. And you need to use a handfree to make call. I used 3HK and CSL SIM card in Japan and works just fine.

That's good news. Could you please tell me how you set up the GPRS connection?
Edit: oops , I see, you are not using a Japanese service, like Softbank, or NTT. I am still trying to find out whether it's possible to use an unlocked Athena with a Softbank SIM card. I know the it would work as phone, but how to set up the GPRS connection would be the problem.

Yes. I use Singtel and use roaming when I'm in Japan. My SIM has the 3G service activated. I hope you can find a telco offering service in Japan. Good luck.
Using Dopod 900 3G PPC in Japan
Hi! Can anyone tell me how to get the Dopod 900 I bought in Malaysia to work here in Japan? Sales clerks are telling me it's not possible. Dopod's site doesn't offer any help. Thanks a lot. I plan to be here for a month or more so it will really help to find out what's true and possible.
Yes I can confirm it works too.

Yes it does. As far as I understand if it supports 3G then it should technically work in japan. Too bad I no longer have my Dopod 900 with me to test it out.
Dopod 900 Woes in Japan
Thanks for your replies. The problem is I want a Japanese sim card and number not the roaming services from Malaysia as I have temporarily moved. This what sales clerks are telling me is not possible. They say I must have a Japanese made handphone. !!?? I know they are protectionist here but surely there is a way around the obstacles.. Any specific suggestions? really appreciate your help!
What I know
I am really interested in this too, as I plan on getting an Athena soon. However, I know that you don't need a "Japanese made handphone". They don't like people using different phones on their network, but they can't really stop you.
Well, they probably can technically stop you, but it is highly unlikely that they will. The reason the sales clerk is telling you it is impossible is probably because there are almost NO unlocked phones in Japan. 99.99% of all phones sold here are branded and locked to a specific carrier.
I am a Hermes user and bought my Hermes through Softbank, a carrier here in Japan. I have since reflashed it hundreds of times and have never had a problem with connecting to the network. I also know others on this board who are Kaiser users who have imported their Kaisers from other countries and are using them on Softbank's system with no problems. There was also a big interest in the mobile device geek community of Japan in the Treo 700w when it first appeared, and I have seen blogs of Japanese guys who have got that running on Softbank's system. So it IS definately possible to run non-Softbank phones on Softbank's network provided you have a valid Softbank SIM.
Some caveats:
I have never seen any carrier here just selling SIMs. You will more than likely have to purchase a phone to get a SIM card.
Voice and SMS (text) should work automatically just by popping in the SIM. Data and MMS are more difficult.
Data
There are two ways of connecting to Softbank's data servers, and each is charged differently. One method uses a public access server, but the charges for using this are quite high. This is the server used for people connecting laptops using cellular modems. The other method allow access under Softbank's tiered and capped system, which is the much cheaper and safer option. The connection settings to access this system are very closely guarded and no one to my knowledge has been able to hack them.
However, there is a workaround. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298031
The problem with this workaround is that it requires a program called WIFIwake.exe. And it just so happens that WIFIwake.exe is coded specifically for different machines. On the link above, there is a version for the Universal and a version for the Hermes (the U and H in the .zip file names). Valued member Chaimd hex-edited a file to make it work for Kaiser: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328362&highlight=softbank&page=3. And he seemed to think it was a pretty easy job. If asked nicely, he might be able to hex-edit one for Athena too - or not. I don't know.
MMS
MMS is also more difficult to set up. Basically, it requires a program called MMSLite which can be quirky. The only way to know for sure whether it will work with Athena is to try and see I think. And it does NOT work on WM6.1 systems, so you will have to decide between MMS + WM6 or NoMMS + WM6.1. This is the big reason I am thinking of buying the 7501 rather than the 7510.
After some research...
... on some Japanese sites, it seems that a CID unlocked Athena can use the WIFIwake.exe file meant for the Universal.
Also, MMSLite seems to be working as well. So it seems that on the Softbank network at least the Athena can do it all.
Dopod Woes in Japan
Dear Larsuck,
I appreciate your investing so much time and thought to help me. I'm not even remotely savy enough to understand the complexities of your advice but I do gather that buying a Japanese phone is inevitable. Any suggestions for the cheapest? as I'll just use it for local calls and carry my laptop with me when I need other connectivity.

Huh? So you have decided not to the the Athena? There are tons of really cool phones over here that can do many, many different things - but none of them compare to WM in that they aren't as customizable. Go to the Softbank website (English: http://mb.softbank.jp/mb/en/ ) and check them out.
However, if you want to get the Athena, here are two choices:
1) Get the Athena, come to Japan, get a cheap phone (cheap in the relative sense) here, take the SIM card out of it and put it in the Athena. Do some research on this site and get the Athena up and running. Keep the cheap phone just in case the Athena dies.
2) Get the Athena, come to Japan, get an expensive but slightly subsidized phone, unlock it and sell it on ebay. Use the sim card in your Athena and hope it doesn't die.

Unlocking T-Mobile MDAIII

Hi all, need some directions from you good people
I need to SIM unlock my MDAIII so it can be changed from T-Mobile to Vodafone. I would also like to retain the WM6 ROM i am currently using
I have no problem paying for the service of unlocking, can you point me in the right direction?
Also - anyone got a link to an original HTC WM6 ROM for the MDAIII?
Cheers for your help
Send a PM to tupisdin. He can SIM unlock very simply, it's not free, but works on a donation system.
Alternatively see http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ which is also not free, they send you a piece of Software that will unlock both SIM and CID at the same time.

Well There is a " FREE " way to get your phone Sim unlocked.
if you contact Tmobile and request the sim unlock code, they will give it to you.
there is just 1 catch, your phone has to be at least 1 year old.
have fun.

Sim Unlock My Wing

I just inherited my brother's phone, a wing he used in the states and i owuld like to use it in the UK. can anyone please help? im dying to try this manificent phone
google IMEI CHECK
i know about imei check but i was hoping there would be a free solution out there
unfortunately not at this time for the Wing.
Is the Sim Unlock Available for Wing
Is the Sim Unlock available for Wing Now or still not. Any help will be really appreciated.
No. it's been 2 days! haha
THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO SIM UNLOCK THE PHONE FOR FREE.
Have a T-Mobile user put their SIM card into the phone and call 611 from the phone. Go to Customer Service and inform them that you will be leaving the country and would like to unlock the phone so you can use international prepaid SIM cards to call your aunts and uncles in *insert non-US country here*. They will give you the unlock code for the phone.
This will only work if the T-Mobile user has had the T-Mobile service for more than 30 days. If you are able, have your brother do it from his SIM card since he had the phone previously.
Thanks for the advice. Works!
Ok, just for conversation. Lets say I want to get a new wing with my equipment protection from Tmo. Does a SIM unlock on my old wing make it useable for others?
Equipment protection? Huh? Are you talking about getting it replaced with the insurance? and giving your old one to someone else?
When the phone is locked, it ONLY works under T-mobile.
When the phone is unlocked, it will work with any carrier, ie TMO, ATT, etc..
How about Vodafone NL..
Is there any free solution to sim unlock it ..?
Anyone with a Herald/Atlas or any of its variants ... are all in the same boat. There's no free unlock solution as of yet.
AT&T and T-mobile both have the same policy on unlocks:
- Account must have existed for at least 3 months
- Must not have had an unlock request within the last 3 months
- (Generally) Must be outside the Buyer's Remorse period (30 days)
- Must not be one of the 'special' phones (Sidekick, iPhone)
If the Wing is an upgrade to your existing service, you can get it unlocked after 30 days.
New customers must wait 90 days.
Simple workaround: If you know someone on T-Mobile with an available unlock (one per 90 days, remember), you can just give them the IMEI number, make & model, and they can unlock it from there. They do not check if you're calling from that phone -- but the phone must still belong to the carrier/be branded with that carrier
SO if my phone is "lost" and i get a new phone. Is myold wing good to go for someone else?
