Power button not working? Very weird - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

The power button doesn't turn on the 8125, I don't understand it. If I hold the power button along with the camera button and press the soft reset button, the phone will boot up somehow. But if I try to turn it on just using the power button, it's a no go . Anyone have any ideas?

Is this a stock 8125, or are you using a custom ROM? When did this start happening? Did you tweak anything? Please provide more information.

Sorry for creating this thread, I figured it out, the power button's solder cracked away from the board somehow, I re-soldered it and now all is good!

Broken Power button

With a broken power button, is there any way I can get my xda2 into bootloader mode so I can change the ROM?
i doubt it unless you take it apart and shortcurcit the to points that the powerbutton is connected to
would prob be easier to put in a new button then i guess
I may be wrong but doesn't the power button actually put the phone into suspend mode?
Would it work to map the "suspend" function to another button (like the calendar button)? Or does a hard reset only work with the usual specific hardware buttons?
no it's not the only function
clicking on a suspece software shortcut
while reseting the device dont result in a hardreset
I have a solution. i have the same problem. Get a paperclip, and insert it into the hole where the power button should be. Slide it in until your device turns on/off. Then hold it there carefully, and press and hold the ACTIOn key and the reset button.
Works for me!

Power Button problem

Hi! My power button dosen't work, is there a way to fix it? Or maybye a siftware that can do the same thing like the power button. Thanks in Advance.
Hello ololizoz,
For a fix for the button, it depends on the problem itself. Maybe the plastic button isn't touching the eletronic button, for some reason. That would be a matter of replacement only. Otherwise, you/someone would need a small soldering equipment AND the right part to replace it.
If you don't mind using a software to power your screen on/off, try Homescreen++, I believe it can power the screen on and off.
Cheers

[Q] Problems with power button

I looked for similar topic but couldn't find it,I can't use power button on my hd anymore,it got broken beacuse of pressing it very often during day to turn the screen on and off...I was wondering if there is an application to assign power button function to home key so when pressing it the screen turns off and on?
Hi, having the same problem, POWER BUTTON is defect/broken, it doesn't have a resistance when I push it in. I can still switch the device on and off, but I have to press the power button hard and the power button does not feel spring loaded any more.
Are there more people having this issue and is there anybody haveing it send for warranty repair already?
Mine is a German O2 device.
Thanks

[Q] Remapping power button

Accidentally dropped my nook color and now it's acting weird. When I'm using it the menu that appears on power button press appears and sometime the device will randomly shut off soon after. I think something with the power button broke when the device was dropped. Is there any way to map the power button to one of the volume bottoms and then turn off the original power button?
BTW I'm using cm7 with the latest nightly build.
Thanks
No, the button is hard wired and not changeable. You might find a way to change for shut down purposes, but not start up.
