Are you sure the card can be detected properly? do you have a sd card reader to see if windows can detect?
I don't have SD reader
No, i don't have a sd card reader to use with the computer to verify the card, but the sd card is a Kingstom standard mini sd card with him adapter to SD.
The card isn't reconigzed by the prophet and isn't reconigzed by the magician.
The type and size have problems with this models of XDA?
My guess is that the mini-sd to sd card adapter is busted. you should double check with another device to be sure. I doubt sd slot on the pda is busted (have you tried another sd card?). I've used a 2gig sandisk mini-sd car with an adapter in my dopod818pro no problems.
my miniSD adapter is a bit.. wacky. Try this.
Take both of them out.
Take the miniSD out of the adapter
Reinsert it, firmly but not too 'pushy'.
Now, the trick here, when you insert both of then into your phone, try not to push it on the miniSD, instead, push it on both side of the adaptor (eg ONLY touch the adapter when pushing into the phone, and balance it (left and right)).
Did you get some kind of SD card convertor boxed with your phone and if so was it SD to MiniSD or MicroSD to MiniSD?
Thanks. I'm just about to order an 8GB MicroSD card but am nowhere near home to check what was included boxed with my phone.
Cheers.

here are some pictures
trinity have a miniSD slot
normal SD is around 2 times as big
microSD is around ½ the size
if the converter you talk about fit inside the device it's a mini to micro
Take a look on the picture ,it is a good one from kingston
http://www.vivachip.com/product/268/0/0/1/Tarjeta-de-Memoria-MicroSD-HC-4GB-Kingston-2-adapt.htm
normally mini sd cards come with a mini to SD card adaptor, so you can use it in a standard card reader
No adaptor was included with my phone
No adaptor was included with my phone. You will have to buy them yourself.
To use the 8Gb microcard, you will need a microSD->miniSD-adaptor adaptor for the Trinity, and a microSD-> or miniSD->SD adaptor for your cardreader.

I'm interested in using the Advantage to have as a mini laptop/phone access/gps and camera card backup device.
As such it would be spot on, small enough to fit in my rucksack but usable in the field.
But can you use a USB or other card reader to backup CF cards to the 8/16gb internal memory?
Edit: Just going to change me request, to who has tried a card reader? As i know it "should" work with one but who has?
Works fine on mine, using a cheap sd card reader.
Its CF cards i'm interested in. So i can back up my SLR images to the 8gb internal drive. Do you know if those work?
Well, I said cheap SD reader, but it's actually one of those multi card readers, and it has a CF slot as well. I don't use CF cards so can't test that, but the Athena reads SD, MMC and Sony Pro Duo cards through it fine, so I have no reason to believe that CF cards won't work.

I wonder if it could be that the CF cards sucks more power, then if we use a card reader with an external power source, do you think that would work?
...
Ouch, hmm that could be a killer for me. Thanks for looking though its most appreciated.
Well I used the same reader and CF on my host pc and it works fine.
It's either a power issue or because the 7501 doesn't have a driver
relating to the reading of CFs.
The 7501 should read CF cards just fine - it's more likely a power issue or a FAT issue. I've just tested a few of my cards and found something interesting (I'm using the Dopod U1000) - the Athena will only read one external volume at a time. This was tested with a 4GB Sandisk M2 card with Memory Stick adapter, 2GB Transcend SD (SDIO1.0) card, and 1GB Transcend CF card, through two different multi-card readers, and with both the 4-in-1 cable and dock. All of the cards could be read, but only one at a time. A soft reset was also occasionally required.
This was surprising to me, because I once attached three FAT32 external HDDs to a Pocket Loox 720, and damn me if it didn't mount and read all three. Me being the curious type, I put both card readers through a powered hub and attached that to the Athena - same thing, only one card from one card reader could be read at any one time. I tried the same experiment on my Loox, and it also mounted only one card per card reader, but both card readers could be used at the same time. Just for fun, I added a usb flash drive and an independently powered 40GB FAT32 desktop drive in an external case, both mounted and could be read as well - I had Hard Disk 1 through 4 in File Explorer. At a guess, I'd say the one external volume limit is a problem with the Athena's mass storage driver, or something in the registry.
I also tried an 8GB Seagate ST1.2 CF Microdrive which couldn't be read in any configuration, with or without independent power to the card readers - as this card requires much more power than flash based CF, I'm not too surprised. I have an 8GB CF at home I'll try out later.

I've tried this card with both my card readers - it works just fine. I don't know what's going on with bigtsr's card, but my (flash-based) CF cards all appear to work.
Anyone have a specific card reader that has worked with XD cards? Going on vacation and my underwater cameras are all XD and would like to be able to view on the A500.. Thanks!
P.S. all of the cards must be FAT formatted... Problem?
@smoothsl.....You might want to look at the "Targus TGR-MSR" I purchased mine in Walmart it was about $13 but I think you can get it cheaper on line. Mine clearly states that it is USB 2.0 and will read/write the following.....XD...Compact Flash...SDHC...SD/MMC...Micro SD...Memory Stick...SDXC. I honestly haven't used it for XD cards, only Micro SD & SDXC but those work perfectly. A note on formatting, if you use the proprietary SD application it may only format it as "Ext" (at least it did for my 64Gb SDXC card) and I found that the A500 wouldn't read or write to it so I had to use Windows to format as Fat32 and this worked fine. On my smaller 16Gb Micro SD there was no such problem.
Hope it helps.
can t you plug onto USB your camera ?
just asking, like with a cable, if yes well you normally will be able to get all picture on the tablet and import them without need of another Card Reader.
Else you need one on USB
Hello
I wanted to know if one plus 5 can read either the Micro SD or the SD card, if I use a card reader for this. I tried with one : https://www.amazon.com/Vanja-standa...martphones/dp/B01JJ1VDQK/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t
Though my laptop read both the cards (and my laptop has a SD card slot) but none of my phones or my tablet did. So I was wondering if one plus 5 has the support to read the memory cards.
thanks

Well, it has support for USB OTG (on the go), and I have tested the USB OTG with a USB C OTG flash drive and it did work. You have to enable it in the settings first, and I can't get TWRP to see it, but it works fine in file browser apps.

I want the micro SD and SD cards I have in my older phone/tablet and my laptop to be read by my one plus 5 phone. Flash drive is OK, but not micro SD or SD card.
thanks

I know, I'm just saying, it has OTG support, which is what the thing you linked is. So in theory, it should work. But no promises.
OK, if you can get an adaptor to fit the sd card reader (usb-A to c), found one in my S8+ box, then you can use the sd card adaptor. Tried with one I have and an older sd card. Read fine...

can you send an image of the connection?
and also which card reader u r using?
It is something like this - https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/comsol-usb-type-c-to-type-a-adaptor-cocmafad or this https://www.firefold.com/adapter-us...OJySZV1E44FQIt58RIlHe51HLDHD67YaAv6LEALw_wcB- but all in one with a lexar micro sd reader attached.
I found mine in the Samsung galaxy S8+ box
what why just get a USB-c micro sd car reader. Slide the micro sd card into and plug it in. Forget all the crazy wired adapters. Something like this....
https://www.amazon.com/Lexar-microS...29&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+c+micro+sd+card+reader
Mine allows more than just sd cards - old school usb keys that aren't OTG, possibly HDD's/SSD's and other USB equipment.
If you just want micro sd cards though, that's a good idea....

Hello
Till now I have tried all these sd and micro sd card readers from amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019PI2WPS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JJ1VDQK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBECO3G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and I am sorry to say, that none of them work with One Plus 5. The phone does not read the cards at all. Is there something in the OS that maybe does not allow the cards to be read?
I really need something that works, or some workaround, since I have 3 different cards, with lots of my music on them.
2 cards are exFat and one card is vFat, if that helps.
The Flash drive with the OTG cable works OK.
thanks

No idea. I toggle the OTG on in settings and just plug mine in and it works.
Hello
OK I have got it working now. I installed Total Commander file manager and that read my sd card. So now ES File Explorer also reads it. The thing is that I have to keep total commander installed, otherwise ---- Es File Explorer stops reading the card.
Yep, OTG seems to only allow the Stock file explorer toread the OTG devices, nice to know the workaround...
