For those who are not familiar with this nifty yet inexpensive bit of software, AE Button allows multiple actions (up to 4) to be programmed to the buttons of your Pocket PC...and is perfectly compatible with the Athena.
I really feel the need for this after having had so many buttons on my long gone HTC Hermes.
I've configured some basic functions on mine so far with pleasing results and no incompatibilities so far.
Joystick configuration:
1 click = 'Enter' (no change there)
2 clicks = 'Open File Explorer' (that has simplified things for me somewhat and is very intuitive to use this way as 2 clicks opens a folder and 1 click confirms my selection)
Comm Manager configuration:
1 click = 'Switch on wi-fi' another click switches it off
Long Press = 'Switch on Blutooth' another Long press switches it off
Camera Button Configuration:
1 Click = 'Camera application' (no change here)
Long Press = 'Opens Resco Photo Viewer' (similar category of applications on one button - again intuitive)
OK Button Config: (On device - not keyboard)
1 click = 'Really closes apps' (linked to Wisbar's OK/Close function)
That's all I've done so far, but then I have at least 2-3 more configurations per button if I need it, which has also freed up space on the 'Start Menu' - only 7 choices allowed by default.
It's worth a look if you don't allways want to go through the various option menu's to get to that one or several important apps or folders or to simply initiate something.
Just considering a quick soft-reset by double clicking the Windows key...1 click brings up the cascading menu (wisbar)...would be nice to soft-reset on a double click (but this particular Windows key is usually tricky if at all possible to reconfigure like the other ones).
Anyway just wanted to share this in case anyone else found it useful.
THANK YOU!

I'm so grateful that you posted this. I was about to purchase Vito Button Manager but the program isn't exactly what I wanted. You can't see the joystick, ok button on device, etc. And I wanted more options, like the four you mentioned here. Great job on providing us with this info....and in my case just in time. Thanks again bro!
So can you program every button on the device? Even the Windows icon button and the browser button?
Thanks from me too. The one thing I knew I would miss from my current PDA (which has 6 programmable buttons each in press and press and hold mode).
Looks like a great alternative.
Great heads up thanks. I'll be adding this as soon as I've customised my Vista-esque, TrueVGA, WA/WAD setup to my liking (spending waaay too long on it!).
Glad I could help guys.
BTW, the 'Windows key' under the 'OK' button (on the device itself) won't let me configure it, so I have now added a 'Long Press' to the Joystick to soft-reset. It works very well and quicker than 'psshutXP' or any other SIP alternative.
Also changed the 'Comunication Manager Button' to:
1 click = Wi-fi on/off
2 clicks = Bluetooth on/off
Long Press = Opens Comm Manager (retaining original functionality)
Note: Had to enable the long press mode of 'Voice Recorder' to = Open Comms Mangr aswell, otherwise it caused a conflict.
How did you get the joystick and the OK button to program? I tried ADD BUTTON but no luck. What hex shows up for the added buttons?
When I did the install I got the 3 buttons plus press and hold, green phone, red phone, left softkey, right softkey, up, down, left, right, enter/action, vol up, vol dn.
Hope this helps.

Lucky for you I'm still up. Ha ha.
Anyway...the Joystick button is already recognized as 'Enter/Action'. Simply select that option and click in the big blank box directly below.
1st Option = 3.'Handle by AEBPlus'
2nd Option = 1. 'Single press' &
3rd Option= 'Press Enter' (this retains the default function)
Then 2nd option = 2. 'Double press' (in the drop down option box below chose) 2. 'Run application' & below that chose 'File Explorer'
Then return to 2nd option drop down box again:
= 4. 'Long press' & in the box below chose;
= 37. 'Soft-Reset your Device'.
That's it!
The OK button should show up as 'Win Key', Button #4075...I have only assigned this to open 'cascading start menu', as this is a system key/button as is the 'Windows' key directly beneath it and they are either complex or presently incapable of being re-mapped.
Hope the above explanation was not too confusing, but it's late and I'm probably functioning on 0.001% of the less than 5% of brain power I'm capable of using at best. lol.
Good luck
Thanks Mackaby007!
I was able to get the OK key mapped as:
1. Show today
2. Ostia (my GPS)
I figure I'll add ilauncher and always be only two taps from the app I need.

There's another button in the menu which selects 'Voice Recording' on a long press through the comms button. This is causing your conflict.
You need to assign control of that function to AEB as well and then assign Comms manager via long press.
So effectively you have to configure that 'long press' function twice! Once in the Comms Button and once for the pre-programmed 'Voice ' recorder, as it uses the same button.
Hope that was clear. Let me know how you got on.
well, I have assigned 'long press' function twice like you said but no effect...
Hi Mackaby007, thanks for sharing.
I am using the Dopod U1000 CHT, loaded the English cab, and always got problem going into the Buttons setting (just hang), need to soft reset and go in again. When I am able to go into the buttons setting, I can only config (under normal windows setting) these buttons
Button1, Camera
Button2, Opera Browser
Button3, Comm Mgr
Button3 (press & hold), Voice Recorder
I tried using BurrOak Hotbutton Plus V3.0, new version, with nicer graphics. Assign HotButton Plus to a button3 (biggest easiest to press) - repeatedly pressing the button will cycle through your jog tasks (I have enable Phone & SPB full screen keyboard).
http://www.burroak.on.ca/hbplus.html
Anyone can provide me the full register for the hardware button, so I can also control other button (press & hold)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys, currently I have only 40C1 (button1, camera), 40C2 (button2, Opera Browser), 40C3 (button3, Comm Mgr) and 40C4 (button3 press & hold, voice recorder)
The AE button plus ver 2.41 onwards cause problem with CallSMS Blocker. If AEB is installed on the device then the CallSMS Blocker causes the phone to hang. The PPC's other functions continue to work properly...Any body faced such problem??

Hi johnnykok. Sorry can't help you with that app. It's the first time I've seen it. Looks nice though.
Having said that, I would imagine that the memory footprint of this app might be bigger than that of AEB, plus I have no issues with AEB, so probably won't even look at anything else.
I usually stick to what works for me unless I come across a problem. Sorry.

Asci...you have to assign the long press function to 2 different buttons.
1st button is the comms button (above the power button)
2nd button is the same button physically, but it's the long press function that Windows has assigned to it, which is 'voice recorder'. That virtual button is in the main menu and has an icon that looks like a cassette. You have to configure that button to allow AEB to handle it first, then assign the long press function of it to open comms manager.
If you don't do it this way, there is a conflict because windows has assigned that function on a long press and you have already assigned a function to that using the comms button....it's all a bit confusing.
See the images below. Hope this helps.

Would you have any screenshots of what this utility does? I couldn't find any on the website provided.
Also, doesn't the Athena/x7500/Advantage come with a Task Manager that allows for this functionality already? Start, Settings, System...then click on Task Manager.

Is any useful way to remap the Green and Red Phone button and the volume slider button? I mean for launch application or any function. Thanx.
There are some such programs for volume slider.
The most simple I prefer is attached here.
Just put it to the \Windows\Startup folder. It just "unbind" slider but not remaps it to another buttons. This will allow to use slider as F6/F7 buttons in programs able to hook them e.g. Haali Reader...
Thanx
It seems to be ok but where did you attach it? On my MDA is no offered file to download at this time. ThankU.
I've got it
Ok. Now is the sheet with uploaded file appeared. I've got it and extracted it. After i run the *.exe file it does nothing. Why?
because it should do nothing
This utility just frees slider buttons from default binding to volume control.
If you have an application that understands F6/F7 hardware key pressings (slider up/slider down) you may bind these key in the program.
As for me - I use them to scroll text up and down in Haali Reader text reader program.
But (as I said above) there are another programs to use slider up/down control. Unfortunately I don't remeber where I saw these utilities - but they really exists
And, as far as I'm back to the Andes from (Blue Angel) - I think I will write another one specially for Himalaya/Andes.
Ok, let's wait some days. If there are any results - I'll post the report here
P.S.: BlueAngel is the best HW keys equipped device i've ever saw But...
Thanx once again
Thank you 4 ur help. Now i understand that. And what about the Phone buttons? Any ideas? Ex.I want to use red button as Ok/Close simulation. Any ideas how to do that? Thanks.
Nobody unmaps phone buttons. It is possible but unresonable because of HTC is a phone device also. But I'll implement this feature too.
OK
I will wait for it.
The very first (and buggy) try of HW remapping utility is done. The application setup is available HERE
After installing .CAB file go to Start -> Settings -> Buttons and see the changes...
DO NOT INSTALL THIS APPLICATION ON BLUE ANGEL!!!
It will hide four lower hardware buttons until hard reset!
1. This app was tested on Andes with WM2003se, but should work on Himalaya/Magican with WM2003 and above
2. You will lose the possibility to use hardware key mapping in other applications forl remapped buttons. I need to re-grab buttons from time to time because the system tries to thieve them from me
3. Currently I don't now how to emulate green and reed buttons functionality after unbinding them from the system.
4. I can count any number of button pressings (3,4,5...), but -
5. WinCE reserve codes for only 15 hardware buttons (40C1..40CF)
There are some ideas for future improvement. But it would be nice to know your thoughts.
Just to "stimulate": I can create settings screen during setup to allow flexible configuration where you will
- choose which buttons to handle and how many key pressings to detect;
- choose option to unbind and/or re-map volume and phone buttons
- ???
And let me take a time-brake for 2 days before next programming session
The utility is ready. It allows you to:
remap each standard hardware button to 2 or 3 "virtual", simulated via double or triple clicks;
use volume slider to simulate Up/Down direction keys or create additional "virtual" hardware buttons;
remap Red and Green phone buttons to 1,2 or 3 hardware buttons each.
In a result you may create up to 15 hardware buttons (system limit)
Just install program and check Start -> Settings -> Buttons.
Here is Oficial AEBPlus home page, full desktop-based setup (~27K) and Direct link to CAB file (~30K)
Well done!
Excellent software! Thank you once again for your work. Works very very well!
man this is great really like it
works perfect
Seems to work great. Haven't had it running long enough to see if the camera button will get stolen back (big problem for me on XDA IIi), but being able to map the volume is great.
In the next version any chance of adding an <enter> option like Vito Button Mapper which I think just sends a <carriage return> to select whatever is highlighted.
Is "<Ok/Close>" option in button settings applet not the same?
NO, <OK/Close> generally tends to close the current window rather than selecting whatever is highlighted.
Also whatever application keeps on stealing back the camera button is still doing it. I don't know if it is part of the UK O2 customisations or the core PocketPC Rom, but eventually whatever function is mapped to the Camera button gets re-mapped back to the camera. This also happened to me with the standard button mapper and Vito button manager. It's a little annoying since the camera button is the most usefully positioned, and it is also easily knocked, starting the camera at awkward times.
Ok, I'll add this option for camera button (a bit later, in a case other suggestions arrives).
As for the re-hooking button by camera application: AEBPlus initializes all of the buttons from time to time. Currently this take place every 30 seconds. So if you will wait a bit - all buttons should be re-grabbed again
This does not seem to help because whatever application that is resetting the camera does it in the same place as you are storing the button mappings. When I go into the Buttons Setup it will now say that the Camera button is mapped to the Camera.
Yes,I see... It looks like Camera application is a pushy application . The solution is to remap "normal" Camera HW button to 3 press instead of one, but I don't like this.
Anyway - utility was released.
New features: added option to emulate Enter key with Camera button.
Hi AE, your utility is great. It is very useful but SIMPLE and SMALL.
I used it instead of other button mapper software.
There're some issues need tobe improved:
1) Mapping "Green" and "Red" button:
Enable mapping when they're iddle only (phone function does not work).
E.g: I'd like using Red button to close running app. But in phone function, Red button is still used to hang-up the phone as original its function. Anytime I have a phone call, I can use Red button to cancel a outgoing/incoming call.
You can refer the program of mamaich in this web site.
2) Single press is too low:
I press a key one time and wait 5 secs or more until it works. It's too slow. Can you improve? Double-press is OK.
3) Press n hold:
Can you add "single press n hold" for all hardware-keys? I think "single press n hold (after 3-3.5 secs)" is more convenient than "double press" or "tribble press". Do you think so?
Hi AE, very usefull application! Is there any way that we can have an options screen, where we can change the key options we get after installing the app? That would be easier to edit our preferences if we want to make changes to our initial choices. Furthermore I added a Mortbutton to one of your simulated hard keys. Each Mortbutton can show a list of 12 apps for a buttonpress. That means That I can now bind more than 60 apps to the buttons in total! Very good for one-handed use of my Magician, thanks!
I'm probably missing something obvious but on my XDA Mini S I don't appear to be able to press the "start" button on the today screen via a hard button (used to be centre button on my old XDAIIs) without having to get the stylus out.
I'm sure we're both missing something, 'cus I concur.
However, if you find yourself desperate you can install my program VJKeypress (on my website) and use the command line 91 to pop the start menu. Make a shortcut and assign it to a hardware key.

If God wanted me to pull the stylus out everytime, he wouldn't have given me fingers! also anything to hand (as long as gentle) ie a real pen (nib withdrawn or the ink might mark the screen), screwdriver, key etc.
Also screen protector so you dont damage anything
I made this for using on my i-mate k-jam.
After installation you can use left software key to Start
Why do you want to do this easy thing in such a complex way? Just open Settings, click Buttons and assign <Start Menu> to any of your hardware buttons. I have configured Button 1 to open start menu (it's messaging bu default) and Button 2 for <OK/Close> (that button is IE by default).

Yup, me too.
By far the simplest solution.
I did try installing VITO ButtonMapper so I could have multiple apps mapped to the buttons but it has screwed up my 'soft buttons'.
DON'T USE IT, or Battery Pack Pro for that matter as it screwed up the whole PDA.

i had the same problems with vito buttonmapper. toggling buttonmapper on and off a few times seemed to fix it. not very good i know but it works perfectly now.
I used to set the Comm button to act as the start button. Don't do that anymore these days because i needed the quick button to the Comm manager. Thank god for fingers
I still bind the memo/speech button on the right to the OK/Close button at the top right button. Found it easier to use when typing the the keyboard or in normal mode.
All well least it wasn't me being dim! thanks for all the suggestions but just don't have a spare button to remap.
You'd think that they would have bound the Today screen "Start" function to a press of the directional button as it doesn't do anything else when on the today screen(as it was on the Blue Angel), but maybe that's just too logical!
assigning START menu to a button doesn't work when u have tomtom running. The menu pops up and just disappears again. It works in most of other apps though.
Got it!!!!
Just discovered that holding down the left soft key for about 1 second(rather than just tapping it to open calendar) opens the Start menu.

Tried it here on my 2.24 ROM and it does not work. I press and hold for a second, also tried other varying lengths of time, and sure enough I always get the app the left soft button has been assigned.
Bizarre, works fine on mine - 2.21.4.1 Rom, 2.07 Radio UK XDA Mini S
Only apps I have installed are SPBBackup, Resco Explorer trial (expired) and TT5
Maybe a feature of the O2 UK Ext Rom?!?
The lack of hardware keys (without the keyboard attatched) on the x7501 was my biggest reservation while deciding to buy it. Now I'm having trouble with AEBPlus and HButton (would be perfect if I could use AEBPlus & assgn Hbuttons to the Long Press mode, but it doesn't work). I can't seem to get the flexibilty in button assignments like I had wiith my wizard, I think because a lot of the long keypresses are OS assigned and not UI available.
I don't want to start reg hacking in my random ways if someone has more experience, or better software ideas, and would be willing to share it.
(I keep my unit in the case without the buttons locked when it's in standby, so if I hit a hdwe key, I only have to do that once to get a specific Mortbutton menu up. 2 gestures to anything is my goal. Hbutton often can allow only 1, but I only get 2 keys out of it CommMgr/Record & Camera, my "IE" button longpress seems to be commandeered by VueFlo (cute but pretty useless). If I use that the AEBPlus doesn't seem to work on the other keys.)
UPDATE: I reinstalled AEBPlus, this time with the PC/Activesync installer instead of the cab. The cab installation I did didn't seem to change things. In any case, AEBPlus is working now.
Thanks!

AEButton will generally do long presses, double presses, and triple presses... if they are available. As you mention, this seems to be a hardware problem. Example, the "e" (internet) button uses the long press to activate/deactivate the motion sensor within your browser.
As a former Wizard owner, I know where you are coming from. Remapping the "e", "record", and "Win" buttons has given me about 9 quick launches, one of which is WkTask which gives another 12 on a pop-up panel--not to mention showing all open windows on the top bar. Also, the big screen makes iLauncher usable. And I still use good-ole SmallMenu. So I'm doing OK with opening things quickly. But I do miss having all those button launches from the Wizard.
Doing better
HButton and AEBPlus don't play well together at all.
I'm on AEBPlus, post flash, and don't get any long-presses, but I have 3 possiblilities on each of the buttons. Along with MortButtons and actually using the CommMgr instead of hdwe keys, I seem to be getting along well enough.
I had the basic edit commands (select all, copy, cut, paste) assigned to a key in AEBPlus, and turn on/off BT and WiFi. That's what I miss. I use MortButtons for it now, so it's a two-step process, but it works.
The problem with "long keypress'es" for many buttons like Ok/Win/VueFlo etc) is caused by keyboard driver implementation and may not be resolved on application level. The button driver returns both "key was pressed" and "keys was released" events simultaneously, right after button was phisically released. So application could not define time period button was in pressed state to decide if it was long or short keypress...

AE, love the program but have one problem. The "ok/close" function is never "close", just always "ok".
The only way that I know of to map the OK button to really be "ok/close" is to configure an hbutton key to be "ok/close" and then use AEbplus to make that hbutton.lnk to the OK key. It's a bit convoluted and requires both programs being loaded and running (hbutton uses more memory than aebplus), but it's the only way to make it work.
Any way to fix the "ok/close" function in AEbplus? Even when there is an "X" in the upper right corner, AEbplus only minimizes the app, never closes.
Has anyone tried remapping or assigning the keyboard buttons to launch applications?
===
Is it possible to get the Half-Press-Function of the Camera-Button assigned for normal working(windows-mode, not camera-mode)??

hi i remeber there was a free app that allowed to set one hardware button to have 2 functions ie short press and long press, does anyone know where the link/post is for the app? or even a app i can buy?

Wow - this aebplus is the most useful app I have found for the xperia.. definitely worth the $7 i paid for registration. i hate relying on the touchscreen since one, it is more difficult to find the buttons, and two, the touchscreen doesn't always respond immediately or accurately. navigating using the crappy windows media interface is a thing of the past and works better than inconsistent navigation of the touchflo or spb shell interfaces.
here's how i've set mine up so that i almost never have to use the touchscreen and can do everything in a few button presses
left silver key - press once - opens up messaging to get to e-mails
left silver key - press twice - opens up start menu (can get to the five or so programs stickied there or go to programs and settings with the d-pad)
left silver key - long press - opens up comm manager (not needed much since i can toggle wifi and bluetooth with the action list)
right silver key - press once - MS voice command
right silver key - press twice - open task manager to switch b/w apps
ok button - press twice - opens up action list (rotate screen, toggle bluetooth/wifi, soft reset, turn off
end button - press twice - close active application
Hello,
I also bought this usful application. But I have problems to configure the "panel" button.
I added the panel button and configure it. When I press the button, the configured action is executed, but the panel is also still executed
Any ideas?

i think you may be stuck with the panels button being unmappable right now. let's hope someone can figure it out though.
might be best to speak to the apps developers to get X1 support built in to allow the panel button remapping.
I sent Alexander an email and he answered yesterday. I got the following answer:
My understanding is, that he is not able to solve the problem because the button is processed on driver level. So we have to find a solution to disable this part of the driver which sounds not so easy to handle....
Bad news for me because I didn't use the panels...
stefan
--------------
Hello Stefan,
Thanks, it is always nice to know if you find this utility useful.
As for the “panel” button. The behaviour you describe most likely caused by “panel” button is processed on a driver level. This makes it impossible to disable original functionality by method BPlus uses.
So you could just search for another solution and it probably is in forums already. I have no X1 somewhere around to play with (unfortunately) but could suggest 2 ideas:
- Usually this “driver-level” functionality finally starts an application placed in /Windows/ folder. You could find this application (or link sometimes) and overwrite with “empty” application or link. Sometime it will require .CAB file creation due to ROM file protection.
- or default application to run on “panel” press could be specified in registry. Just search the registry for it and change to do nothing.
There are other approaches for “default” action possible but above are most simple and well-known.
Regards,
Alexander

I can't see Voice Command showing up as a possible mapping. I had it mapped to the right silver key before I installed AEBPlus but it does not show in the dropdowns of AEBPlus as an app or anything else. Have I missed something?

you gotta have the setting for single click to run the application. the file you want to run is in \Program Files\MS Voice Command\voicecmd.exe

How're you doing with battery life? Some people notice their battery dies quicker, some don't and I unfortunately fall into the former group. It's definitely one of the most useful thing I have ever bought but had to uninstall as my battery was draining fairly quicker than usual, shame though.
You can also try my X1ButtonMapper app that can be found in this forum. It allows for assigning long press actions for softkey and volume rocker. Besides that, it allows for Ok short and long press remapping, mapping missing Fn+Key, Setting Ctrl on keyboard and some more. It is for free and I haven't had and heard about any battery drain issue.
I recommend X1ButtonMapper it extends the keyboard and other buttons. Check it out!

Hello everyone, I'm sure many people will be interested to know that AE Button Plus is working perfectly with LEO and support english, french (which I use), spanish, deutsch and ten other languages. BTW, this is my first post, so every comments are welcome
The HD2 may be a touch device, it still has 7 buttons and I use them for variaty of functions, including switching on/off BLUETOOTH, WIFI or TORCH. You can even assign any button to run an application. The program is VERY stable and VERY convenient.
This exceptional app has the ability to reassign function to (almost) every physical button of your device, including the volume button. Moreover, it has the ability to assign different functions whether you press the button ONCE, TWICE or LONG PRESS. It very simple to use and work wonderfully with my HTC HD2 (as wall as many other Windows Mobile Device). I've used it for more than a week and I can't report any bug, even though I installed many other apps, tweak and so on.
I'm using the evaluation version (you have pay 7.99$) by the fact that it shows a splash screen when device starts up. But you can believe I will pay the damn Russian guy who created the app, many even donate more!!!
I wanted to share my experience with using this app, since it's not very known in this (great) HD2 forum. Also, I want to show you the way I've been remapping the buttons, to show how useful it can get. Feel free to comment!!! Once you install the program, softreset and assign the AEBPlus to a shortcut and you're ready to rock! By the way, the icon is quite ugly, but that's just a minor issue .
THIS IS THE WAY I REMAPPED HD2 BUTTONS (in brackets, the way AEPlus "calls" the button)
Volume up.
Single press: volume up
Long press Backlight up
Volume down.
Single press: volume down
Long press Backlight down
Hang up (green phone button)
Single press: switch vibration mode on/off (and shut down the volume)
Double press: switch torch on/off (run application "TorchButton v2.3")
Home button (button #00ED), added manually
Single press: unchanged, impossible to remap ??
Double press: switch bluetooth on/off (impossible to make it different than the "Home button"...)
Long press: impossible to remap ??
Windows button (windows key)
Single press: ok/close (close the window, but not the program still runs)
Double press: windows file explorer (you can choose to run another explorer, for example Total Commander)
Long press: close active application ("really" close the application)
Return button (also button #00ED, added manually, see ISSUE below)
Single press: unchanged (actually I chose no action, but the original function remains)
Double press: switch bluetooth on/off
Long press: switch wifi on/off
Power button (red phone button)
Single press: unchanged (shuts down backlight)
Double press: unchanged
Long press: unchanged (actually, I use it with "Touch X LEO Power 12 icons actionscreen v1.1")
KNOWN ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS
- Absolutely no bug !
- Bluetooth. The function included with this program doesn't work (apparently because HD2 uses Widcomm bluetooth, unlike its predecessors). To solve this, I simply assign the desired button with the application "ToggleBTh.exe" (credit to Dextrosan http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=587493). I copied the file to the folder "Program Files" and created a shortcut in the "windows/start menu/programs" to be able to make it appear in the program list.
- Backlight level. To adjust the backlight, you have to access the settings of the program. Click options -> backlight settings (scroll down !). There you can adjust the darkest level you wish (0 = minimum backlight) and the brightest level (10 = 100% = maximum backlight , less if you want to save battery life) and backlight step (2 = 20% is fine with me). Beware, when you assign a button with function backlight level, you have to choose in the subsequent menu if you want "backlight down", "backlight up" or even "backlight level" 0, 2 (= 20%), 4 (= 40%) and so on.
- Manually add Home button. Home button is not listed in the program, so you have to add it manually. Choose "File -> Add button" and follow instructions. Actually, there's a trick... If you press the Home button, it will close the window and go back to your home page. You'll have to go back in the program using the task manager.
- Home and Return button cannot be remapped individual. For some reason, when you manually add Home button, it's called #00ED and when you assign actions, these actions also work with the Return button... Actually, these actions even work BETTER on Return button than Home button. Single press and Long press actions will not work with Home button, but they work with Return button. Weird, huh? Even if you manually add Home button (then called #405C) and assign actions for the button, it won't work at all, and the Return will still execute actions listed with the button #00ED. All in all, it's a minor issue. Just remember that I can't remap single or long press for teh Home Button.
EDIT: Dec, 20 I also use the function "control volume directly" so that the volume buttons control SYSTEM volume directly and not the ring volume. Also, this nice function disable the ugly pop-up volume window that appears and have the annoying tendency to change ring volume first !!! This function is located in the menu "Options -> Other options -> Control volume directly". You can check or uncheck it.
That all folks, hope this little work will be useful for many.
Much help is appreciated to try to solve the Home/Return button issue.

Of course, as long as you find an exe which does that automatically whenever invoked. You can do pretty much anything as long as you can associate it with a specific utility. I use the program with my ipaq 210 and am very pleased with it, with a resistive screen it's even more useful.
Now, if only I wasn't dead-dumb enough to let slip from my hands this leo for 430EU on ebay... who knows how long will I have to wait to find another one at that price.

ok. so we have something special on our leos.
- htc sense.
- green button - send key.
- red button - end key.
- home button. this key is stucked with htc sense.
- back button.
1. green button.
i can do any thing with this key. but i leave long press unchanged beacause my vangrieg_incall_lock_ita had added long_send.lnk that link to phone on my \windows and i don't want to interfere into it. now long press on send key = phone. this is a vital function, right? so let it be.
2. red button.
i can't do any thing, but "Touch X LEO Power 12 icons actionscreen" can.
so for me end key has single press as normal and long press by "Touch X LEO Power 12 icons actionscreen". that is more than enough. power off is a vital function also.
3. home button.
as said, this key is stucked with htc sense. so you can not change single press anyway. you can do somethings with double, triple and even long press but firstly it takes you to home screen then do your commands. for long press see next item.
4. back button.
this is exactly "ok key" on aebutton. you even don't need to add it manually. you can do everything with this key except long press. long press works only when you are on a certain program interface. this does not work when you are on htc sence interface. to get this long press work on anything, anywhere and anytime you have to assign the same action you want to do to HOME KEY LONG PRESS. and voilà !!! this works 4u.
Thanks for your appreciation of my thread.
Still, If you are really "hardcore hardware fan" you can use AEBPlus to assign even the double tap and triple tap of the keys
To oainot. About the bluetooth toggle, If find it quicker and simpler, to double tap on one button, turn on my headphones and get going out in the snow. I use it literally everytime If get out of my apartment. Just think: would you prefer to switch the light off your apartment with a long-click (+ click in a menu) or with a simple double-click? To satoo. Here's my configuration file. I should tell you that my system is in french. I managed to put "english" as language in the program, but you can still get some french word (calculatrice = calculator i think; Explorateur de fichiers = file explorer; ). See attached file.

So,in an identical manner,
I set one key (ex:hold vol up) to active phoneweaver ,with which i set some usefull profiles :
mute mode: switch vibration mode
day mode: loudly volume
night mode: max or min backlight level as you like
.......
each mode we can define (backlight level, vol lvl, differents rings, wifi on/off,bt on off)

i'm afraid it is not possible.
single press of red key may controled by basic input output system, not the operating system (windows mobile), not the htc sense or not any other resident program.
may be this should be that for power on the phone by single press while operating system is still not running.
may be someone could hack the key someway. i dunno. if aebutton had a button assume called "power key", it could be possible to try.

Yes, I noticed that the left softkey cannot be remapped by AEB. You'll have to use the newer BsBTweak which works just fine with the left softkey. Find it here

this feature is for devices with physical soft keys. Leo doesn't have them. search the forums for softkey remapper (Today and/or Manila).
