I hope someone can help me out.
I have a Softbank X01HT just bought around a month ago.
The problem is:
When I try to record video with "save to SD card" option set (its a toggle button on top of the camera's screen), the device pops an error, saying something like "A strange error occured...". Can't really understand it coz its written in Japanese.
Here are some details that might help you help me:
1. I'm using Sandisk 2Gb Micro SD.
2. I can record video when I use "save to device memory" setting.
3. I can capture an image with "save to SD card" option set.
4. I can copy files from device memory to SD card.
5. I can play mp3 files saved in the SD card.
Strangely, my friend who have the same device and storage card can record videos with "save to SD card" setting without any problem.
Here's what I did that my friend did not do:
1. Formatted the SD card to FAT32 filesystem. However, I don't have any problem with this file system except that video recorder cannot save to sd card
Here's what I did so far:
1. Formatted the SD card to FAT, which is the default format of the SD card when it was bought.
2. Hard reset.
3. Soft reset.
4. Detach/re-attach SD card.
These never fixed the problem.
Does any one have any idea about how to fix this thing?
Fixed with ROM Upgrade
I don't know how the problem disappeared but after upgrading to WM6 using RUU_Hermes_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.54.707.3_6275_1.47.00.10_108_Ship.exe fixed the problem. I can make longer videos now... weeeee....

same problem here... hmmmm.. please htc.. do something
try a soft reset.
are you on a VF uk phone?
Got the same problem last week.
I find out the memory card got corrupted. dont know why.
XP didnt seen the card in reader at all.
Vista helped me to format the card, but i lost all my data, as i have to do full format to get the card live again.
Yes tried that. Yes on Vodafone but using laurentius26's Ultimate Rom which I believe is based on a T-Moile rom. I have been using this for some months without issue.
How do you format a memory card that can't be seen?
when you open file explorer can you see it there
or has it dissapeared from that too?
File Explorer will not open so soft reset now it opens but whole startup process now quite slow.Storage card indicated ...tap on it get inbox .mstxxx so email I guess and Temp folder containing cookies, History and temp int files. Thats my lot.
This is a common problem. Try removing the memory card, soft resetting then delete the folder "Storage Card" or "Storage Card2" if it exists. Reset again and insert memory card.
This problem occurs when the storage card is mounted on a PC (Disk Drive mode) and an application such as email tries to write to it. Windows decides the folder (as the storage card is mounted as a folder) has been deleted, so re-creates it. When the memory card is unmounted from the PC, windows has to call it something other than "Storage Card" as that name has now been allocated to a folder.
If that is not the problem, put the card into a PC and see if it recognizes it. It might say "this card is not formatted" etc. in which case you need to reformat and lose all of the data on it
the_sikko is quite correct the same thing happened to me last week. I simply re-connected to the pc and deleted the newly created 'storage card' and that resolved my problem.
I did notice a folder called Storage card earlier on now after numerous resets it's gone. I have also reset back to factory settings. Each time I reinsert the card Windows Mobile Device centre shows me the memory card (although my phone indicates no sd card loaded etc.) but when I try to access it, it disappears!
Try increasing the timeout that allows your storage card to be detected when the device is booting or coming out from suspension.
These registry edits worked for me:
[HKLM\System\StorageManager]
“PNPUnloadDelay“=dword:8196
[HKLM\System\StorageManager]
“PNPWaitIODelay“=dword:8196
Also, you may want to disable the power management on your storage card with:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\SDMemory_Class]
“DisablePowerManagement“=dword:00000001
Hope this helps
Ok now I will have to learn wo to edit my registry
So without having to edit my registry I managed to grab the file that said Storage card but when I tried to delete (with the card still inserted) it I'm told Access is denied and I should check the card is not write -protected or currently in use. When I try to open it it simply disappears. If I try to delete it with the card removed I get Cannot delete "mxip_notify":There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use.
Any suggestions?
Could really do with some help here cos I'm well and truelly lost in terms of what my options are.

I literally just had this issue. I have two Kingston 4GB cards and one of them simply stopped working. I wasn't able to copy anything from the mSD card to my laptop, so have simply formatted the card and now it no longer shows up in Windows Explorer (Windows 7).
Now i'm using the other card. I can tell by the way this card is responding in the HD2 that the other card became corrupt. I have just ordered two Transcend 8GB mSD cards from eBay for about £30.
I downloaded a tiny piece of software which is supposed to bypass Windows Explorer limitations and force format SD cards...but it won't work because the card just doesn't show to the laptop.
Well in the end I put the SD card into the card slot of a PC and after a very very long time I managed to format the card. All is well now.
my card got corrupted too
maybe i know the answer..
sorry for my bad english..
I've the same problem. But searching from all forums, finally i get the answer. just find n download EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Proffessional 4.3.6 (for 5 MB). Insert the mmc in card reader, use this software to recovery all the missing file (choose Complete Recovery Option). After recovery process done, use software LLFTool (for 600kb, just doing some browsing at google) to Low Level Format the mmc (this LLFTool can recognize the mmc). After all done, Windows can recognize again the mmc at windows explorer. Just right click and choose quick format (format FAT32). Done.
Had to Hard Reset
Just to add my two pennies worth.
None of the above worked for me. In the end I had to Hard Reset. Harrumph!
Hi there, all of a sudden my storage card has decided to rename itself from storage card to storage card2, and with this all my programs that where intalled on the original storage card have stopped working. How can i change this back as my file system now shows 2 storage cards(default new storage card and my old one that has been renamed storage card2), i hope this makes sense and there is a work round to this, i have tried pulling out the storage card but this didn't work please help as this is really annoying
More people have experienced this and there's a solution. Use the search function and you will find.
Yeah i have just looked at the search facilaty and it all seems a bit complicated all i want is for someone to give me a brief and easy solution please
1 take out the card
2 rename the folder 'storage card' to something else,
3 reboot
4 insert sd card and your card will be correctly named again.
its caused because the system is looking for a folder on 'storage card' before the system has finished mounting the actual storage card,. so it creates a folder instead.
1 take out the card
2 rename the folder 'storage card' to something else,
3 reboot

Ok im not sure how to rename the folder in step 2? in active sync or disc drive mode this is where i,m getting stuck, thanks for the reply mate
job done!!!!! class act mate cheers

Excellent! Worked for me too!
This problem of disappearing Storage Card / Storage Card2 keeps appearing frequently on my WM6.1 Samsung device. Everytime doing the manual process is troublesome. Is there any way to get rid of this problem permanently or in automated way?
I got the 16GB Card with my phone. I first(before first use) removed the SD card and re-inserted it. Then I started the phone.
The settings show "No SD Card". Also, the documents tab shows "SD card is full or missing". Its not detecting the 16 GB Card came with it.
When I plugged this 16 GB to my Laptop using a card reader, it works.
Also, when I inserted a 1 GB Card to the phone, it works.
Is there anybody who face the same?
Can anybody help?
First, is the phone connected by USB in Disk Drive mode when you're trying to look at the contents of the card? If so, the phone can't see the SD card when you're connected that way. If that's not the case, then follow these steps:
1) Put the card back in the reader on your PC, copy everything off the card into a backup folder
2) Put the card back in the phone, and use the "Format SD Card" option in settings-tools
3) Once it's formatted that way, connect the phone to the PC via USB, choosing the "Disk Drive" option
4) Copy everything back on to the card that you had saved in that folder on your PC
No. Its not connected to PC.
Also, I cant format the card when it is not detected by the phone.
Then still copy everything off it like I described, and then format it via the card reader on your pc instead of on the phone.
The stock cards in the HD2 are known to often have issues like this...if these steps don't resolve the issue then the next step is to probably just replace it.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA app
There are some weird WinMo bugs about storage card, have been around for years, and not fixed.
Look at your device with file manager. There may be a folder in main memory called "Storage Card", that isn't really the storage card, and the real storage card is now labelled "Storage Card 2" or something, so links to it won't work.
With file manager, rename the fake "Storage card" folder to anything else. (You can't delete it just yet.)
Then reboot the device. After the reboot, the real storage card should be named "Storage Card" again, and now you can delete the imposter folder.
I don't know if your problem is related to that one, but important to get that info out, for those not aware of it.
(Especially likely to happen on HD2, when connected to the computer with the disk drive option. When so connected, the real storage card cannot be read. Yet, if the system wants to save a file or cache to "Storage Card", it creates a new folder by that name. Later, when no longer connected to the computer, the real storage card is back, it has been renamed, as the new folder took its real name. To get it back right, follow the procedure above.)
Another possibility just occurred to me. Seems rather obvious, but it has happened to me.
Are you sure you have the card inserted correctly--all the way in?
The first time I reinserted the card after taking it out, booted up my phone, there was no storage card. I just had not inserted it correctly. That is very easy to do on this phone, you think it is inserted all the way, and it is not.
If you haven't experimented with that yet, you really should do so. Make sure the card is pushed all the way in.
I am running a HTC Touch HD with a 8gb microSD memory card, i was watching a movie on it when it suddenly froze. Done a soft reset and found that the storage card to be empty and all programs which were installed to the mem card are also gone. However Start > Settings > Memory > Storage Card, shows 7.2gb used 700free meaning that the data is still there but the phone will not read it for some reason. I have been doing some research and have found that a lot of people have had the same problem but have not as yet posted a solution
All threads i found on this topic are from 2008-earlier and i was wondering if anybody has found a fix for this yet or whether i'll have to format the storage card completely as the computer on which i made the back-up for the card was also formatted last week in which case ill have to download all the data and programs again.
Thanks in advance
I have a similar issue, I had my Touch HD connected to the PC using the 'Disk Drive' option and accessing some files on the SD card whilst TomTom was running. I unplugged my device and TomTom complained about missing files then the app would not start again, I could not see the SD card after this on the device or my PC SD card slot so I restarted the PC and the phone.
I could then see the files on my SD card, and I could see the files on my device but it is now appearing as Storage Card 2, I had to reinstall my apps to this new location to get them working as I could not get the SD card to show as Storage Card, and there is already a Storage Card showing as well as Storage Card 2.
Weird!!!
Hi! First of all sorry for my english. Not my best language.
I'm having issues with external SD card on mi note 4 (910H). On KitKat I noticed that some files became corrupt after some time (mainly pictures and videos). Now with lollipop I thought that the problem was solved, everythimg was ok, but now I'm facing the same issues with corrupt files. It seems that mostly everything copied to the SD card becomes corrupt or damaged except for some small files. I've formatted it several times but after some time it comes back. I've read that it's an specific issue with Galaxy smartphones. Anyone with the same problem? I want to know if there is a possible solution or if there's no solution at all.
Sorry if duplicated post.
I have a 128gb Samsung SD card.
probably a bad card. replace it and enable sd card encryption. that way the system can at least detect it.

The system has no problems detecting it. Some people was talking about this too in other forums. Going to replace it and test what you say.

Hi
I have a similar isues with multiple Note 4 's please see my thread , i hope it helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/please-help-strange-problem-t3030198
I found the possible solution for Note 4 SDcard Issue after dealing so much with it, posting here it may help some people.
History :
If you own an SDXC or 64GB+ SD card with exfat you probably faced suddenly disappearing all the sd card contents where says the sd card is empty, mine started with this and formatting it using Windows, Note 4 and etc goes to same scenario, it actually happens because Note 4 and Windows formatting them using exfat FS.
In this guide you need a windows PC or TWRP or Mac at your choice.
Steps to fix the issue :
I assume only high speed sd cards (SDXC and U1+) with exfat larger than 32gb are problematic with note 4 and smaller size than 64gb can be formatted to Fat32 without any tools already in Windows, so this guide is intended for high end ones, like the one i had Silicon Power SDXC U1 Elite class 10
Metod 1: (recommended)
1. Detach your MicroSD card (most known to be problematic typr sd is SDXC)
2. Insert it to SD Adapter place to your laptop (if your computer has no dedicated sd slot attached to motherboard better use a laptop otherwise use Card reader) and remember drive letter
3. Store your sd content to your pc to restore later.
4. Download EaseUS partition master (free or other type) all will do the job
5. Right click on the right drive letter corresponding for your SD Card and select Format
6. Give it a name Like "SDcard" or what you like then select Fat32 for file system, finally select 64kb for cluster size, and press OK button
7. Finally press the apply button in top left and magic happens
8. Now you can place back your files, your sd card is ready.
Method 2 TWRP
1. Backup your data in an OTG drive or Internal storage or cloud.
2. Boot into the TWRP select wipe menu
3. Push advanced wipe, select MicroSD card, push change File System button.
4. In this menu choose Fat and press the button, wait for it till the a message says successful appear.
5. Now boot to your system and you'll notice it's fixed and you can place your files back.
Method 3 Using Mac OS X:
If you own a Macbook or iMac or anything similar just attach your SD card to it using its Adapter then run the "Disk Utility" app in others folder or type it in Spotlight (don't forget to take a backup already) then Select erase button on the sd card and use Fat in the menu, just you need to do it Twice, then you'll good to go.
I was able to do that in Sierra with latest updates.
