Use the search option in this forum or use SK tools. You can change this in the registry
Thanks For that I found the answer here

Why was the option under settings removed in WM5.
Reg change fixed it

Nothing to thank for. In fact most people are angry if they are told they should use the search function. Great u used it and found what you needed.
Have fun and enjoy!

By Phone:
NAME - two numbers (mobile and home)
BY SIM:
NAME1 - mobile

I just bought Xda neo and I copied every contacts from my SIM card to the device. The problem is, after that, when I click "contact" it will show both the copied contacts and the one in my SIM card, which both are the same!!! Anyone have the idea of how to make all of the contacts shown to be from my SIM card disappear?
Thanks a lot
Under HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone add a new DWORD value named "ShowSim" and set it to 0. No need to soft reset the contacts will be hidden when you next open the contacts window.
This was found using a search.
A very handy tool, search.
Thank you very much, I did it already and it works!!!

Sorry, I am not able to find this path: "HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone". Can you give me a hand with this please?
For looking at my SIM-card records (after changing in the registry) I use the program SIM Manager which came with my Qtek s200.Is there a different depending on brands? Greetings from Sweden
I bought the P3600 one month ago, when I received a call in the display the name of the caller appeared as it was stored in the contacts (including the eventual picture).
One week ago I went abroad, where I am working, I changed SIM card and I realized that the the displayed ID for incoming calls appeares as it is stored in the SIM (without picture of course), although the same number is stored in contacts as well.
Why? How can I display the ID as stored in contacts?
me having the same problem...
im using the official dopod wm6 rom
You can try to erase the complete sim-card, that the numbers are only saved on the phone and not twice!
Well, erasing the contacts from the SIM doesn't look a wise choice, as, on the contrary than P3300 the contacts appears only once, not twice.
The strange thing is that when I was in Italy, with Italian SIM I had no problem, now I am in North Africa to work, I put a local SIM and the description from the SIM comes out when somebody calls me.
I have a normal P3600 with a normal ROM downloaded from HTC site (to enable integrated GPS) and the normal WM5.
Hi,
Simply use Trinihack that can disable the use of sim's contacts without erasing them.

Already found and downloaded, thank you.
I saw it is used to change the register, but I am not an expert and I'm afraid to make a big mess.....
Hey everyone,
Simple question that seems like it should have a simple answer - I just can't find it. I searched the forum and was surprised not to see a thread about this already. I copied my contacts from sim to phone in order to view them using touchIT's cube. Now when I try to view contacts in the standard way (which I do out of force of habit when making a call a few times a day) each entry shows double, one entry from the sim, one from the phone. Is there any way I can filter this ("filter" from the menu doesn't have the option) to show only sim or phone contacts? It's frustrating having to sort through double entries from the standard contacts view.
Thanks in advance
There's a registry you can edit... but I don't have access to my laptop right now so I can't find out what it for you at the moment. Try searching around for it. Should be able to find it.
Here you go:
To Remove Sim Contacts
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\ShowSim: 1 => 0

Awesome, very useful. thanks :
i was directed by another user to come here and ask this question...
i put my contacts on my phone.. and now they show up twice. once for the phone, and once for the sim card. and if i try to erase the sim one, it wants to permantly delete it from my sim card. and havin it on there twice is just pointless.. but i cant save email adresses or nothin with just the sim one..
so my question is.. can i hide the sim application numbers, so that all that shows is the contacts that are saved only on the phone..?..
if anyone can help.. id apericate it.. thanks..
After flashing new roms to my wing, a few times my contacts have duplicated themselves. I just select all "contacts" and delete from the phone. Then move to sim manager and select all and "save to contacts." It clears out all the duplicated "phone" contacts, and resaves from the sim. Any phone contacts you haven't backed up to your simcard will be lost, though, so check that your sim is up to date.

hello,
when someone calls my diamond II
it only shows the number of the caller, but not the name even though they are in my contacts how can i change this so it says who calles by name instead of number..
thanks for any reply
This sometimes happen if you have multiple entries of the same number....then phone shows only number and no name.....Is this happening for each incoming call..or just for few contacts...
for all contacts it happens, but most do have an mobile number and an home number..
can i change anything to fix it? or is it a fault on the diomand II .
Multiple numbers for same contact should not be a problem, but multiple contacts for the same number sometimes causes this....fr me it is working fine, so it should not be a TD2 bug..

all contacts have just one mobile number and one home number so i don't know where to search a solution
but thanks for your reply
Try to not use the prefix.
(+countrycode)
Should do the trick
this was discusserd once already (I think. I can recall the drop the prefix solution). Search a bit. alas, I will give you a link if I find one
Im having a similar problem. The caller id dosent work for some of my contacts, both when they phone me or when they send a SMS. Im sure they are saved in my phone and not on my sim and from what I can see there isnĀ“t any difference from how they are saved in my phone book from the ones that the caller id works for. Its really strange and annoying. Hope someone has a solution for this problem.
Did you try just delete that contact and make it again. I know it's stupid question but ...

yes i did. I also tested to make a new contact from the sms view with the option save contact with the actual number that shows instead of the name and it still didnt work. Thanks anyway.
Hey,
I've had the same problem since day of purchase. I did the reg edit to increase the numbers the phone looks at to identify a number but it still didn't work. I've also deleted and re-created the contacts with no success.
ALL,
I had this problem. I submitted the case to HTC Europe but I did not even get a call back after a few months had passed.
Unfortunately the only way to do this is to hard reset the phone.
You will loose all your phone data (contacts etc) but the files on your memory card will be ok.
When you reset the phone, even if you have NO contacts at all on your sim card, you still have to tell the wizard on the first boot to import your SIM contacts. This, for some silly reason, is the only way to get the phone to register the phone contacts from your phonebook, even if you are just using the non-SIM contacts.
I had no numbers on my SIM card and of course I did not select the option to import my contacts. I was going to do that myself via Outlook. Once I selected not to import the contacts, not one number was recognized.
I did a Hard Rest. If you have numbers or not on your SIM does not matter. Allow the initial start-up wizard to import from the SIM. Then continue.
This solved this VERY ANNOYING issue for me. I used SPB backup first to take a copy of my phone data before the reset.

i had this problem too, solution is change registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\CallIDMatch:9(DWORD)
this means phone will identify number by 9 last digits - meaning its ignoring country code.
*if 9 not working for you try 10/11/12... one of these should fix.

hello
today I tried all the numbers, from 7 to 12
11 was the value that made me look some of my callerID. now I have the same problem, but not with everybody, but only some people
let's say a 50% of my contacts are shown on the screen when they are calling me/sending me an sms, but the other 50% doesn't show me the name but just the number.
today I tried with my mom's phone to call me. it didn't show the name. So i deleted her name from the contact, and added it again (from the missing call). now it's showing her name... Do I have to do it with all the phonebook?
is there something I can do to fix it? it's making me crazy
please help me..
I have, absolutely same problem, erasing the contact and creating it again, did not solve, very very strange. I've tried iterchange of numbers home>work, work>home, work> auto, home > auto, invane, some of contacts refuse to display name, compared the phones i have no same numbers for names ecc. First of all i have to mention that numbers have been migrated from Nokia 6230i via Outlook Express > Outlook > Phone , some of the numbers like Home, Bussiness Fax ecc, did not passed to Diamond 2
I've just noticed that a Hotfix was released a few days ago, which just might solve this problem.
Titled: Update for HTC Touch Diamond2 for Caller ID Display
I haven't tested it yet, so let us know if it works for anyone
try to make all contacts same format with TrineFix or similar app,
set numbers without country code, for example in israel i set 05XXXXXXXX instead of +9725XXXXXXXX, then i change CallIDMatch to 8.
this is how it works for me.
I had a problem with none of my contacts names coming up when they called me, it would only show their number. After x2 software resets and installing everything again I found the problem, when you do a software reset and you turn the phone on for the first time when it asks you to import from your sim card contacts DONT DO THIS if you sync your phone with Active Sync and outlook contacts as this is where the problem is.
If you import your contacts from your sim and you sync with outlook then your caller id's will not work.
