Hello,
Simple question: when in the Today screen, the left softkey is a shortcut to Calendar and the right one is a shortcut to Contacts.
Where/How can I change these assignments?

Read the Wiki on WM5 tweaks. There are programs for it though for easy changes.. I think it is called softkeys.cab (or something like that).

Don't you have Comm Manager on your right softkey?
Nope... The default setting on my TyTN (HTC branded) is Calendar and Contacts. Seem a bit pointless to have Comm Mgr, as there is a dedicated hardwarekey on the right hand side of the device (next to the powerbutton).

I had a Universal until recently (too bulky, buggy, and Wizard is so much nicer!) so I now have the Wizard/O2 Xda Mini S.
On the Uni there was an icon on the Today page for changing orientation of the screen with 1-click. On the Wizard there is none, and I have to navigate through several menus in Settings to change it.
Any way to add the Universal's Today icon to the Wizard?
Or failing that, how can I add Start Menu shortcut to the 'Screen' option in Settings?
Check out phm tools keys. They have a screen rotation shortcut.
I think there are registry hacks to show the screen rotation UI icon though (WM2003 at least)

EDIT: I found this for the Universal but it has no effect on my Wizard:
To change the display of the screen rotation icon in the system tray
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION'
The 'HideOrientationUI' DWORD value can be set to '1' to hide the icon or '0' to show the icon
For example, to hide the screen rotation icon
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION\HideOrientationUI = 1

:? Just to clarify for those of you who don't credit me with a milligram of intellect, I wish to orientate the screen when not using the keyboard. This is a feature of WM5 and the Universal allows you to do it from the home screen, but not the Wizard.
I have however solved it by using Spb PocketPlus

Anyway to do it without installing pocket plus ?
Why not hook it up to one of the hardware buttons ? If you're worried about running out of buttons, you can probably install one of the button managers?
I've got '<Rotate Screen>' (built-in option in Buttons) under the 'voice call' button, and Magic ScreenShot under the same button+hold (normally 'voice memo'); I highly doubt I'll use either of those voice functions, so they fit nicely there
I just added it to mort button, but its still a key press and then a tap of the screen, would much prefer a today icon just to be tapped.
Well, maybe time for a developer to step in and make a tiny application that rotates the screen

ZeBoxx: I've done it, but PHM tools already contains very effective screen rotation icons. Find PHM Keys... assign to hardware key or shortcut or whatever. Use his or my VJTrayLaunch and stick it in the tray as well if you want... oh, mort script does this as well I think.

PHM Keys seems to have some other neat things that I might download it for, but personally I'm happy with just having <Rotate Screen> under the 1 button (no special button managers)
off-topic: is the PHM website ever going to be back?
I have pocket plus 3 installed, so i just added 'Rotate screen left' onto the close button context menu.
Now its just a click-hold and click away - even from within a program (comes in handy when using internet explorer).
Both softkeys on my 8125 do not open their set function wnen I push on them. This is only at the Today screen where the functions I have set are "Menu" and "Contacts." I have to use the stylus to view my contacts. I don't want to do a hard re-set. Can this be fixed?!

Thanks for the reply, but after I posted my thread,I removed WM5NewMenu program, re-installed, and strangely enough my softkeys work now from the Today screen.

Right softkey: Menu
after upgrading my Cingular 8525 to WM6 it is not that useful:
Left softkey: Delete
Right softkey: Menu
In effect, to create a new message I need to select Menu and then New.
Is it possible to assign New to the left softkey?

It might have been in your ROM!
Mine always had CONTACTS on the left and CALENDAR on the right! BTW: The HERMES has a direct MESSAGING button on the top left anyway, so, what does that matter? Next to you can enable the MESSAGING TODAY PLUGIN or assign / remap the buttons yourself!
This might help. Work on my WM6 ROM (vpG3 v3.62.3).

Soft key
from there you can set up you soft keys to run the application you want.
He means with the MESSAGING menu, not on the TODAY Screen. Yes, on today it's Left-Calendar, Right-Contacts.
BUT
We want it back to the way it was on WM5.
Left - NEW
Right - MENU
Please oh Please can someone find a fix for this. Who new the geniuses at m$ could find such a simple way to make daily texting so much more annoying.

You can use HD Tweak to remap these 2 soft keys

Right & left SoftKeys can be changed using CERegedit while synced to PC, or PHM Regedit directly on your phone.
The keys in question can be found here:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila
I have mapped
HomeLSKPath to \Windows\tasks.exe
with a corresponding link name at
HomeLSKText of Tasks
There are ways to map to other Manila shortcuts like All People.

Great stuff, I want to change the LSK to DeviceLock. Changing the text was obviously no problem, but do you perhaps know the path?
I tried what I got from total commander as path: \windows\VJDeviceLock.exe, but that doesnt really work..

My TP2 is running manila 2.1. I really like the "All Contacts" feature in Manila better than the default windows Contacts. My Manila home screen has the right soft key set to Contacts. Is there some way to launch All Contacts from a link or exe that I could then assign to the right soft key? I could not find anything on the device itself that would launch All Contacts.

This is what I've been looking for. But I'm editing my action screen and would to link the manila contacts to it. Can you tell me how I would do it without having to use the lnk u made. I have two lines. Parameters and Path. Thanks.
