Network settings in a *.cab file - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

How can I make a cab file to load my network settings (internet, mms, wap, gprs/csd) every time I hard reset my tytn?
Thank you!

Hi,
I found that wizard in the wiki, it works for the Magician and I think for the Hermes too.
It extracts a cab file, perhaps that's helpful for you...
PS: wow, my first post

do you have a link or something?... 'caise I can't find it...

ah sorry
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcp3600.html?lang=en
the one on the bottom

that is good... but i want something to make my own settings because in that wizard there is no romania operator...

I'm lazy to give you the details, but in general, you get yourself a CAB editor (easiest one would be WINCE CAB MANAGER), open the above example, and modify the values within to suit your needs.

..the problem is WHAT values modify... i've tried it comparing 2 full reg backups before/after the configuring.. but applying the reg, when income an sms it goes to MMS folder etc...
here are the registry i've modified

Before downloading and installing the software wizard from the above link, I could not connect to the internet via GPRS. I knew I had the correct settings install on my Wizard and this was also verified by the technical people at T-Mobile, but still I could not make a internet connection via GPRS, but on WIFI everything worked fine. So I came across the above link download the software wizard for the UK area, although I live in the USA it worked like a charm. This software is a network settings wizard,(wap, full internet,MMS,ect), it does the configuration work for you. All I can say, my search stopped here, it works! (lol) By the way the ROM version that I'm using is the X-Plorer 1.1, for me this is the best ROM, because I"ve tried them all and "most beautiful" was so ugly to me. X-plorer1.1 runs smooth, it does not do the"Freeze", or the Stop GO move!

MMS settings for TDC/Telmore, Denmark on M1000/xda2- HOW????

Hey. I've tried and tried, but .............. i can't get this thing working  .
If anyone has made this work - pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaase share your settings!!! I know, that a lot of ppl will send you a lot of happy thougts...
Thanks
- Torsten
http://erhverv.tdc.dk/artikel.php?dogtag=tdc_e_mobil_mms_mo
here are the normal tdc settings
the telmore would most likely be the same maybe with a different
mms server ip
i sugest you try and contact telmore for more info
Well. I've tried this guide, but I dont get the MMS option on the Today screen. I'm stuck - only having the "No unread messages" line. Any suggestions? Why doesnt the MMS option pop op on the Today screen?
well my qtek2020 have an item on the today screen just like that pdf describe at tdc's site i would asume that orange would have a program much like it
mms are not like sms and activsyncmails and normal mails
they dont pop up under messengers
my mms today screen item opens a program called mms composer made by arcsoft soware which handle the mms sending and recieving
Do you know where i can dl the software from? I think, thats what I need. I dont think Orange has included this sw.
This is how to do it:
1. Install the MMS application - download default_mms.zip and rename it to default_mms.cab. Then execute it on your M1000
2. Create a new Network - in my case it is called Telmore MMS
3. Create a connection for your new network.
Name: TDC MMS
Modem: Celluar Line (GPRS)
Access Point: mms
3. Start the MMS app and configure it to use the network Telmore MMS
I use different networks to avoid having to change the default modem each time I switch between MMS and GPRS browsing.
Regards
Michael
Thanks! I'm able to test it tonight/tomorrow. I'll post my results (luck ) with this one.
Just a newbie question. How do I execute the renamed .cab file?
cab files if renames can of cause be executed by you renaming them back to cab
if they are cab then using total commander give you the option run which execute and install the cab file in the process

Vodafone Australia settings

Hi,
Could someone who is with Vodafone Australia post their settings for MMS.
I've set up GPRS and WAP and spoke with Vodafone support to get my MMS setup, but it does not seem to be working. It fails to send.
I'm using the latest O2 ROM where I have performed a soft reset before it customises, I have then run the two video phone CABs and the MMS shortcut cab.
I have the MMS folders available under Messages. I can create a MMS but fails to send.
I'm missing something and I would be interested to learn what.
Regards
Michael
There's a CAB file which simplifies things a lot (available from club imate). It will install all the settings for Vodafone MMS, and GRPS.
If you're still having troubles, I can post the CAB file - but I might not be able to do it till this weekend sometime. Unless someone else can post it first?
Here's the CAB file I was talking aobut.
These are the settings as provided by i-mate, and they work perfectly for me!
can you guys use vodafone live to ?
Yes and no.
I used settings from here:
http://aussie3g.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=15462
and changed the useragent as documented here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29595
And I can browse vodafone live. As for downloading/streaming the video content - I'm still struggling!

Virgin UK Network Settings CAB file

I know that there have been requests for this so here we are.
The attached ZIP file contains the CAB to automatically configure GPRS and MMS connections for the Virgin UK network. It has been successfully tested on an XDA II and SPV M1000, both of which are running 2003 SE. I don't have a pre-2003 or Mobile 5 device to try it on so I don't know if it works on them.
The 2 connections which are set up are called:
Virgin GPRS - this has been configured to also allow MSN Messenger to be used.
Virgin MMS
Before using it, I would advise the removal of any existing GPRS and MMS connection settings (though the choice is obviously yours). I would also advise to check that your happy with all of the MMS options/settings following the install (e.g. Save Sent messages is switched off with this CAB).
At last - God knows what i was doing wrong but with this cab and some manual setup of the Connection side of thing i have managed to send an MMS.
This CAB setup the MMS side perfectly (nothing on GPRS) - as i was typing from what i can gather ok for IP i was using the full xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and server name i had put goto.virginmobile.uk whereas this cab just say picture message (not sure if this would cause and issue), but i am doing the connection via: My Work Network as thats where i setup the GPRS, rather than internet.
My Mobile is a Voda Compact III 1605, running HTC Rom 1.35 with windows mobile 5 - and have sent my 1st MMS after trying over a few days!
thanks
How do I install this cab file?
Copy the CAB file to your device and execute it...
sbgorner, you rule!!!
iv been trying to get my mms to work for 5 days now and was readt to smash my phone to pieces. your cab worked perfectly.
Thanks V Much

I tryed it, No luck.
It installs on my O2 XDA mini s, but still no connection
Maybe you know some other way to do it.
Many Thanks
Remove old network connections before installing the CAB
The CAB file does really rely on the fact that there are no existing network specific connection details installed on the XDA. The best way to ensure that old network connections are not affecting the Virgin settings is to delete them, i.e. ensure that only the standard "My ISP" and "My Work Network" entries are still present.
1) Go to Start->Settings and on the "Connections" tab, tap on the Connections icon.
2) Tap on the "Advanced" tab.
3) Tap on the "Select Networks" button.
4) Use the drop-down arrow to select an entry (do not select "My ISP" or "My Work Network").
5) Tap on the "Edit..." button.
6) Tap on the "General" tab.
7) Tap on the "Delete Settings" icon.
8) Repeat steps 4 to 7 until all of the entries (do not select "My ISP" or "My Work Network") have been removed.
Having removed all of the network specific connection entries, try reinstalling the Virgin UK cab file again and everything should work.
You diamond. Just sent Virgin a bollocking. They suggested I contact O2 about setting this up. Your cab file much appreciated by a middle aged member.
Thanks
Will try!
Much appreciated!

Just tried this after a week of trying various settings, now got access to gprs, thanks.
I have followed your instructions but after running the CAB file the VArio II still doesn't connect. If I click on the edit settings link it doesn't think there are any settings, as I only have the option to install a new ISP. However if I try to manually install a new ISP using the name Virgin GPRS it won't let me as it says a connection already exists with that name, but nowhere can I find any trace of that connection. What is going on please?

I'm in exactly the same position with my O2 XDA mini S.
I could possibly try using a different ISP name but I'd rather find out why this is happening and delete the connections made by the CAB file. As I can't find the connections though I can't delete them.
Ok, Time for an update.
Using Virgin GPRS2 didn't work and I've found out how to remove the setting created by the CAB file. I went to add and remove programs and removed the changes that way.
I have followed the instructions from this thread to no avail. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=238042&highlight=virgin+gprs
I'll keep plodding along but if someone can offer any suggestions i'd lve to hear them.
Ps. Don't be rude.
Hi Bouncypete
I also discovered that I could get rid of the bad settings using remove programs, but am also no further forward in finding the correct settings. I have sent a private email to sbgorner (he doesn't appear to subscribe to any forums) but have not had a reply. Anybody else out there got any ideas?
Virgin GPRS settings
Hi Bouncypete -success!!!
I have found an older posting from sbgorner which gives a blow by blow manual way of doing the settings and it works!!.
I will try and attach this as a pdf, but if the attachment doesn't come through then email me and I will send it to you direct
ran VirginUK.CAB - no settings added
I deleted all the old gprs etc connection settings and ran CAB file, but get no settings visable in network connections just "my isp" and my work network". When I try and enter settings manually I get to the "modem" new page and enter Virgin GPRS or MMS select Cellular GPRS/3G and next and it tell me I'm adding a duplicate setting although there are no settings visible. This happens after removing the CAB settings that make no difference in remove programs? Any Ideas apart from clearing the phone down?
Thanks for the pdf link - sorted me & my orbit out

Setting up GPRS and MMS for O2 (pay and go)

Hi,
I've just upgraded my Blue Angel (O2 XDA IIs) to Xplode's latest WM6 ROM and its working perfectly appart from MMS and GPRS.
I've installed both MMS cab files and I can compose an MMS message, but when I try to send the message, it will say sending, but the message will remain in the outbox and it will never get sent.
Similarly, I cannot access the internet through Internet Explorer with GPRS.
Can anybody please tshow me exactly how to setup my Blue Angel for this?
Thankyou,
Laser493

Your first problem seems to be GPRS setting. If that is not set properly, even MMS will not work.
GPRS: I am not familiar with O2 parameters, but you need to go to Settings > Connections > Connections and MY ISP and create a new or manage an existing connection. Parameters needed are : Connection name, modem of Cellular Line(GPRS), access point name, User Name (O2 's GPRS users name), and password.
This should be enough to set your GPRS settings.
Once this is set, you need to setup MMS. Open Messaging, then Menu > Options > click on MMS. Go to Servers Tab and click New, here you need to set Server name, Gateway, port number, server address and most important is the connect via, set My ISP (GPRS connection name). You are all set and set this MMS as your default.
Install HTC Network Wizard, go to Settings-Connections-Network Wizard, choose your country and operator, soft reset and voila!
DANDANA is right , it will work for you.
But as we know Network Wizard has limited list of operators so for example it is useless to me and i have to perform all of the settings manually, because my operator is not on the list

Whilewe are on the mms/gprs subject:
at the moment, i have 2 settings on my gprs connection 1. gprs wap (internet) 2. mms
the way it works is, if i need to connect t internet then i need to set up connection to gprs wap MANUALLY, and the same thing for mms.
the problem is if my connection is set up on gprs, and there is an incoming mms, it fails to receive automatically.
how can i set it up automatically? I know there is "AUTO PICK" option, but I tried it before and it doesnt work.... or does it?
how do you guys set this up?
Thanks
Try this CAB
Or you can try to use Schap's Operator settings....

very small MMS

I've got a problem with MMS. the pictures are very small. In my old Diamond2 I had this problem too, but it was solved changing some registry editors (User-Agent in HKLM/Software/Arcsoft/Arcsoft MMS UA/Config/mm1/WspHeader).
But with new HTC message client (manila 2.5), this registry editors are missing... and I don't know how to solve this. Any idea? thanks.
All messages - Menu - Settings - Options - bottom is Photo resolution... Set to XGA...
it's original resolution. but the problem is not the picture I send. It's the picture I recieve...
Yes i had this problem with my polaris when i flashed the ROM. Basically your network is limiting the size of the pictures based on your user agent.
If you search my posts you should find a more detailed explanation in the polaris forums.
What you need to do is find a phone that your network sells/supports and change the User Agent profile for mms. Since the mms software is not arcsoft the registry entries will not be there, you'll need to find the registry entries for the htc messaging application.
I found the registry editor !!!
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/MMS/SP/UserAgent
now I got normal pictures size MMS in my Leo !!!!
what I've done:
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/MMS/SP/UAProfile
changed to: http://www.htcmms.com.tw/claro/diamond-1.0.xml
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/MMS/SP/UserAgent
changed to: NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
my operator: Claro (Brazil)
What are the correct registry settings for TMO US?
