Desktop SMS/MMS Manager - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello,
I recently purchased an O2 XDA Orbit, and I am very happy mith my new mobile apart from one thing. On my old mobile (Samsung D500) and previously a Nokia, I have had a software package provided with them that is able to manage SMS / MMS to either view/delete/save.
But the most usefull function is to be able to send/recieve SMS via desktop application (using a keyboard), as at work I don't want them to see how often I use my mobile. Also, as it takes quite alot of time to write an SMS/Reply it is alot easier to use a keyboard.
So I am woundering if anybody knows a software package that will do all of the above on Windows Mobile 5?
Cheers Guy

You can use Jeyo Mobile Companion. That does the same..

Sending sms from pc but through xda2

Waiting for my XDA2 I am using a girlfriend's Samsung p400. We will not discuss what it does not have ... but it has one neat feature:
The bundled software enables you to generate sms on your PC and sends it through the Mobile phone. Now this is great because
*You can use qwerty keys & not fiddly mobile ph keypad
*It is sent immediately
*Your no sent for replies
*Your recipients think you really smart at generating sms
*Internet sms sucks
Does this feature exist for the XDA2?
Please tell me it does and I will happily give the p400 back!
Check this software for SMS Managment with PC, it is freeeeee ...:

Microsoft Remote Display Control
Using Microsoft Remote Display Control, you can control a Pocket PC using a window on your desktop PC. You can see the Pocket PC's screen in a window on your desktop PC. And your keystrokes and mouse clicks on that window are sent to the Pocket PC. So you can do more than just sending SMS from your desktop PC.
Looking forward to try it
Thank you!
And there is an add-on for the outlook that O2 provides (it works great in Ireland but don't know in other countries) that you can send an SMS to anyone in your contacts. No need for mobile/XDA, nothing...ahh and it's free !
And here is a link, it's called "Desktop Text":

If you have access to your pc do a search on google for "free sms" there are a bunch of sites that give free sms through the pc on the web.

Hi Jargon,
I'm interested in using that software called MS Remote Display Control but when I tried going to the link you provided, I can't find any download that pertains to it. Could you help me which link to go? Thanks

Hmm nice language option there.... The screenshots look like they come from a hybrid SP Studio (free)/Jeyo Mobile Companion program.
SP Studio is Chinese but if you can find it in English its free and works well. The only problems are that you need to run a program on the xda 2 when you want to start using it so it connects and it doesnt support sms messages longer than 160 characters. The makers of SP Studio then went on to make "version 2" but renamed it to Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.0 available at www.jeyo.com. Its based on the same program but all of the limitations are gone and its properly translated. However its not free. Ive bought a copy myself and it works great, however steer clear of the Outlook version they make as its still very buggy for most users. Ive used a few sms managent programs and Jeyo is my favourite not only because of the send from pc feature you are looking for, but it can backup and restore all the sms messages on your phone cleanly and easily.

MOSA (Microsoft Outlook SMS Add-in)

I just installed this free Outlook add-in from M$ and it was supposed to be something to send sms through PC, backup sms, something like what Jeyo Mobile extender does (my assumption because I still can't get it to work with my wizard).
Anybody know how to make this thing work?
I'm stuck in the "Options >> Select Mobile Phone" and my wizard does not show up even though I have it connected via USB and Active Sync.
this is the link to the plug in

I am currently investigation exactly the same, with exactly the same problem.
It looks like we have to install the modem drivers for our respective devices (Kaiser for me) in order for the phone to appear on the list, as implied by the "modems" button.
However I don't have any experience beyond the fact that in various different modes the phone can appear to the OS as various different devices for various different comms purposes, and it only connects with ActiveSync in certain modes.
This leads me to wonder if it is actually possible to install the modem driver to allow the sending of SMS messages using Outlook, while at the same time remaining connected to ActiveSync in order to maintain a connection to my PC/Exchange.
Any additional tips would be appreciated.
Use icq
j/k.. i'm gonna try it and see...
Not for PPCs
Won't work for PPCs, this is useful for regular mobile phones not Windows Mobile powered. For that you will need something like Jeyo or Pocket SMS. Sorry folks.
Any luck on this? Still trying to figure it out :s
I doubt there is any solution on this. I played on it for a bit and now agree with what Kull is stating.
Aggreed. Went to Jeyo Mobile Companion instead.

My Phone Explorer

Does anyone know of an alternative to this program for Windows Mobile, i've used it on an old Sony and it's fantastic getting pop up alerts on the PC for new SMS and replying through the PC etc.
Many thanks for any info!
Maybe http://http://www.mymobiler.com/ is what you are looking for....
Hi
Controlling the phone from my pc isn't exactly what i'm after. The SMS part of my phone explorer is what i'm after but i don't seem to be able to find anything for windows mobile which is weird!
Thanks for your help though
I used MyPhoneExplorer on my SE too, great for managing my phone,
Is there software I can use to re-name/manage all my contacts? And link all the profiles with Facebook etc.. ?
Jeyo Mobile Companion

SMS sender Alternative

Few years back there was a app by microsoft "sms sender" which was installed on XP pc and connected to your mobile phone, You could then send SMS messages typed on your pc through the connected phone.
Now I am looking for a similiar type of app for vista or Windows 7, but have not found any, which should also be compatible with windows mobile 6.5, so I can type onto my PC and send sms through my connected HTC HD2.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm curious too.
Actually, it'd be awesome if there was software with similar functionality to MyPhoneExplorer - http://www.fjsoft.at/en/highlight.php
Anyone?
Chaps,
There is something out there in the XDA Development & Hacking Forum. Can't quite remember what the app is called now but do a search under SMS or Desktop SMS and you should find it.

hi all,
I know this is an old thread, but did anyone find an answer for this topic?
I'm also intrested in an app like myphoneexplorer
Hi,
Search for "wifi remote access" .. and give it a try..
This may seem like all your dreams have come true, but FJ (developer of MyPhoneExplorer) has stated that his next iteration of MPE will indeed have (at least some) support for our beloved Android devices!
This was the one thing I hated not having with my Android, but now all is well!
Good things come to those who wait

[Q] mdesktop/jeyo mobile companion for Android?

Are there any apps out there that do the same thing as mdesktop or jeyo?
manage your SMS messages through your PC, write messages, reply, delete, forward, etc..
I use Jeyo all the time when my phone's running Windows Mobile, but as I'm spending more and more time using Android, I really could do with a desktop app to make writing messages easier.
(I use an HD2 btw)
I am also searching ..but no luck ! previously i used Nokia and SE. both have good desktop client. But I cant even find a good pc suite like those neither a good tool to SMS.
Anyone can help ?
