Hi,
I am a newbie for PDA phone. In my O2 ATOM, all my games became unknown programs after i do a soft reset and i need to reinstall all of it. Is this normal? I have asked my colleague that is using HP IPAQ with WM5...He does not have such problem.
If you do a soft reset too soon, it will happen because it hasn't finalized writing to the registry. You need to turn off the unit, have it turned off for ten seconds and then do a soft reset. That may be your problem. If not it can be badly cracked programs, if they're cracks.

It hangs sometimes and when i soft rest, it doesnt reset... if i hard reset it it doesnt reset... please advice on how to solve this problem.
Confused.
You mean you soft reset but it doens't reset? Or it hanged after the reset (e.g. while loading WM5).
And you tried hardreset? The manual for the hardreset procedure may not be good (they've copied over from the Magician). On your hardreset, did you see the device saying something like.. Press send to format the memory and Formating FAT something like that? Just to make sure you really hard reset it.
i think i'm having a similar issue. in the last 3 days my jam hangs on soft-reset in the picture of the initial display screen, and the only way to bring it back to life is to hard-reset, which on the move can be a pita.
im building a cab for all the settings and these hard-resets push me to continue developing it, but in the end it's becoming annoying. i've upgraded recently to taxist rom and it's stable since 2 months, but then i had to flash it again and since then it sux
can anyone tell me if the registry is reset when a hard reset is performed? for a while my phone has been running incredibly slow and no number of hard resets has fixed it
when you hard reset, it put everything back to how it was!
hmm
it doesn't seem to be doing that, i installed zagat to go on my wizard the other week as did a couple of people i know, it's made all of the devices crash constantly and no number of hard resets are fixing it
How are you "hard reseting"? If by using the stylus in the reset hole then that's a soft reset. A hard reset is performed by holding Record and Camera buttons and reseting with the stylus, then pressing the Send button when instructed to format. You can also "Clear Storage" from Settings\System. You will lose all settings and have to start all over.
i've been doing a true hard reset. i've found the issue now, the software that was causing the problem seems to install something or change the registry settings when connected to the pc even if you don't install the software itself.
i'd recommend to everyone to avoid zagat to go like the plague
Zagat OK
I've been using Zagat for six months without trouble. I have it installed on the miniSD and have about 30 cities. Zagat isn't nearly as useful as Vindigo, but Zagat operates fine. It doesn't have a program running on my PC so there is no mechanism by which the PC could be changing the registry of my MDA through activesync.
Hi,
I have a strange problem. The soft keys stop working suddenly. I dont know what provokes it. But it just stops working at times until the next soft reset. I can still use the stylus on the screen buttons, but pressing the soft keys do nothing? Any idea? Any similar experience?
Hi jugulator, I have exactly the same problem. My latest install is PI 2007, PenPower WorldCard Mobile andWM5torage. Wonder if Pi 2007 is causing the problem.
Did you install and uninstall WM5Newmenu? One of the versions did this to me  I did a HR, but you mey check on the thread. Think I saw a solution
I have lot of programs in my prophet. I did a Hard reset resently, but even now the problem persists. But after HR I reinstalled all the programs which I had
I tried installing spb pocket plus and, just after it installed, my Wizard didn't seem to be responding so I tried soft resetting it. On booting up it showed the O2 splash screen and then the Windows Mobile screen but nothing else. The screen goes dark as the backlight is turned off but you can still see the Windows Mobile screen showing. Each time I soft reset the same thing happens.
I've tried soft resetting about 4-5 times now and the same thing happens again. I've even taken the battery out and put it back in and the same thing happens. I was going to try reinstalling the O2 XDA firmware but as I can't get the Wizard to connect to ActiveSync I can't do that.
Has anyone got any ideas? At the moment I'm without my phone & all the PDA functions on the phone and I really want it back.
Thanks for any advice.
Matthew
Think you may need to do a hard reset to put it back to it's factory state. Should work then.
Thanks, I'd been trying to do a hard reset but it didn't seem to work - then it occurred to me that I was actually pressing the wrong button to confirm the reset!
Hard reset works and gets it up and running again although, from checking, it seems that there's some problem between sdp pocket plus (3.0.0.3888) as I've now installed that about 3-4 times and each time, after doing a soft reset, the Wizard crashes and won't respond.
I've searched the thread but can't seem to find anyone with a similer problem.
all of suuden I can no longer do soft reset by stylus the button seems to be working it's not stuck or loose but no soft reset, the only way I can do soft reset is by means of software i.e SPB mobile shell etc.. but this way I can't do hard reset if the soft reset doesnt work by stylus!
I'm assuming it's hardware problem because I've flashed my phone twice just to make sure it's not a ROM issue. Now before I disect my device just see if there is a contact problem where the reset button is placed inside, has anyone come across this issue?
Have not seen this reported previously could be a simple re-solder job?
