Changing Language from French to English

Hello,
I am a complete noobie to this so apologies if this offends anyone, I have spent the last 2 hours on this site trying to find information about how to change the language on a QTEK9100 from French to English...
The reason I ask is I want to get a QTEK9100 for my father for his birthday next week but he doesnt speak french and so this would be totally pointless unless I could change the phone into english...
Please could someone help me! Step by step instructions would be most useful as I say I have no real knowledge on how to do this, its taken me 25mins to discover that my phone is a "Wizard..." whatever that means....

I think you will find you will have to put a English rom on the PPC, i do not think there is another way!
Edit Stop the presses,
Ok if you go to Start/Settings/System/Regional Settings
But this will not change all the folder names and things like that! The only things that chnage are the calendar day and month etc

What is the PPC?
and also where do I find the said english rom? I have been trying to figure this out all day!

If this is not the most up to date does that mean that it wont be able to be installed over the software version that is already on the QTEK 9100?

Go to this site and have a look for yourself. Since you did not provide us with a little more information (ie provider, country) it's hard to help you here. Normally you can downgrade to an older firmware, but it's not that easy. Watch out for a tool with romupgrade and noID in the name. But as always, dealing with this not official tools can brick your device.

PS: RUU and WWE shows it's an english ROM

You can flash to a new version of RoM which should be in English and your Qtek would be in English. The bootloader would still be in french but it really does not matter. The Keyboard is also problamatic since the French Keys layout remains, although it works as a QWERTY one. You can remap the keys but not worth it, its easier to memorize them.
you can check your Rom from start/settings/system/device information
just use a RoM which is newer than the installed french RoM

How to change language? Swedish to English

I bought qtek9100 and was told that it has English version of the Windows Mobile 5 in English, but it was in Swedish. Now I want to change the langauge, how to do it?
I have already unlocked the CID and phone using the lockiwiz.
I am completely new to the Mobile PDA stuffs, so try to be explicit like how to get into the ROM. I am whining also because of the linguistic reasons.
Help solicited and will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

im having the same problem with mine only mines in dutch.
but i figured i just moved here a month ago and its a good way to learn a bit of the language.
I've had my phone about 3 weeks and can now pretty much negotiate it all and picking up some dutch on the way. its all good.

Um, the question sorta confused me... I think you were asking how to change the language from Sweedish TO english... I feel the easiest way would be to flash a new rom (ok, maybee it is not the easiest, but it is the easiest I know of, it will be the most complete and you upgrade the thing at the same time, so why not?) I would flash the T-Mo 2.26, simply because it is the latest and I like it. I am not sure if it is worldwide English or American English (or what the heck the difference is anyway...) but I know it is english b/c I can read it... This rom is available somewhere around here, or PM me and I will email it to you... Hope this helps

Will changing ROM image change language?
Thank you everyone who replied to my question, yet I have some questions as below before proceeding (I used the lokiwiz0.2b to unlock sim and cid, do I still need to run the 0.3a version of lockiwiz?).

Now my question (of course newbie) is how to install it? And will Changing the ROM will change the language of the Windows Mobile 5.0 too?
Please be explicit (because I am lost in my qtek in a language which I don't understand and I am doing a guess work all the time). Thanks again.

I tried to execute the ROM image I downloaded as stated above but held back because the ROM seems to be downgrading from 2.17.7.203 SVE to 2.17.2.202 WWE. So I held back.
In the meantime, I came across three posts and got confused which one to follow?

iPAQ 6915 - need to install new rom- how ?

hi all,
I am again a WM user, so here come my first question:
after a failed change language attempt on my device, at every startup it just stays at the HP screen with the radio and os information.
I tried, and I can go to bootloader mode, and my laptop is even seeing my device via Activesync. I already tried hard/soft reset and nothing workes.
what do I need to do now ? - from what I read, I need the spanish ROM, put that on my device, then maybe agian try the change language operation
anyhow, is it possible to put directlly now a english version of OS, and also hope that I can use the GSM module ? (im located in Romania- vodafone or orange use)
can anyone help me with this ? - I can't find eact info, if I have a ROM, how to check it, to know if its good and if that will work, and also if the GSM module will work ??? ... it worked fine before on english ... but now ..I dunno ..
so, thanks for now, I hope someone can help me.
PS: where do I get the Spanish official OS WM5 for my device ? and how do I put the rom in it ?

i've read everything 2-3 times on the threads of interest in this forum about the language change.
what I've discovered is that, I will need now to reflash my device with the original spanish ROM -wich archive I have but I don't know the password wikidorg, maybe you can help me ???

Download the 39,17 MB file then go to bootloader mode and connect the USB cable from PC to XDA(your iPAQ pfone) and then run setup of French ROM in your computer. If everything go well then i will give you information what to do next. Dont wory about French ROM this is just for test if your phone is OK.
When you complete this French Upgrade then your phone must be alive. Then i will guide you to the next step. Good luck.

dunno how to do it on the 6945 but on 691 5is : red+green+power buttons then stylus reset

i was able to use orange ... and wow..it look great especially the themes...too bad it's not english)....so what is next??

Can i make my G4 Dutch 6915 English with this?
I read in another topic a user had issues trying to convert his dutch phone to englsih. I don't think he used this rom-update though.
Is this an official hp rom? or a custom made package?

It's not really about the language that i want the english rom, i want it, because the dutch rom just is very slow. It seems the UK rom has better performance. (lots of discussion about this in dutch forums also).
But i'm not really known with the tools i should use to create a proper backup of my hw6915.
Should i use awizard? or mtty 1.4 in bootloader mode? (those were the two main options i read about in the forum here).
A little help to get me in the good direction would be appreciated.

Absolutely this is english WM5.0 rom,but u gotta make sure ur device is G4(G3.9),otherwise u can't upgrade ur device version with this which I provided.

Hello there! im new here in the forum and i have some problems with my qtek 9000...
Let's start, but lemme tell u something, i am totally NOOB in these things so u gotta tell me step by step if u can
Okay, first of all my Qtek 9000, when i turn him on it appears the Qtek Keep the world in one Screen and the usb connect/disconnects all the time so i cant do nothing that uses usb port, after the Qtek screen it appears something in red:
R 1. 18. 00
G 42. 54. P8
D 2. 07. 00 WWE
And then it turns off...
I tryed to charge the ppc but if i put in charge, it turns on and off all the time
sometimes it appears the Windows Mobile screen too but it turns off again...
What can i do here, im totally confused... Please Help Me!

Have you tried to do a hard reset? (instructions in the wiki)
Check also your battery.

well i think its from the battery cuz it doesn't charge, when i put it to charge it stars to turn on/off all the time... and if i use the hard reset while in charge does the same thing, just turns on/off
and btw what are those things? with R, G and D (WWE means worldwide english right?)

I'd buy a new battery.
