P3600 - worth getting?

Couple questions for P3600 users, particularily if you upgraded from a HTC Prophet.
I currently have a Prophet, but there are a few things about it I am less than impressed about.
The main thing I'm disappointed with is the quality of the audio. Both from the earpiece and rear speaker. The volume is not really adequate and the sound quality is hollow and tinny.
Can anyone comment on the sound quality of the P3600? Is it much improved?

I can tell you that the original HTC rom (no GPS) seemed to have fantastic sound quality - at least equal to my old Imate PDA2k which I thought had a very rich quality.
However, if you upgrade to one of the Dopod GPS enabled roms, as I did, expect the same old tinny sound. I was really psyched about the GPS, but the audio degradation that accompanies it is disappointing. I am holding out hope that the eventual release of a GPS enabled rom directly from HTC will combine the best of both worlds. It is a fantastic device, though!

Call Quality

Every other phone is a “killer” of some sort nowadays, but when you get down to basics the most killer thing a cell PHONE can do it make calls. I’ve had my X1 for about a week now and I have to say I’m experiencing the best call quality (clarity, crispness of voice, lack of background noise etc…) out of any phone I’ve had or used to date. Although it would have been great if the speakerphone was louder, maybe adding another speaker.
Prior to this I was using an n95. I’m running an X1i on at&t, mostly in Brooklyn, NY or NYC. Are your experiences similar? Note that I’m talking about the actual call quality, not reception.
I cannot say the same for me
neither can I unfortunately .. in fact, quality is probably the worse I ever had on a cell phone before ... I m on Vodafone, London zone 1
I would have to disagree aswell i think this is 1 of the worst quality sounding phones i have had i a long while when on a call, even if some calls me from a landline its comes out all muffeled and really hard to understand the person on the other end.

Agreed. Call quality is very fine.
I haven't heard any complaints from my friends also.
I am also getting the best quality compared to my Blackberry BOLD, Palm Centro and N95 8GB.
until now, no problems.
Call is very high quality. Only complain: at maximum level, there might occur some cracks. But anyway, you can't keep at maximum simply because it's too loud.
Anyway, i'm very satisfied with my X1i. Calling & data connections: the best i've had until now.
It is the best phone quality I ever had on a PPC -since XDA, XDA II, XDA IIi, Trion and Toshiba G900. And it is great loud. Even on a street with a lot of people and roadworking I can clearly hear the other side. It is the first time I am very satisfied with the phone quality of a PPC
Yup,i am having the best quality for calls, the sound is really crisp and so loud.
The first X1 I had was dreadful - awful quality - dropped calls all the time so I sent it back and got a brand new replacement from the second batch.
This is the best call quality I've ever had - Nokia, Samsung, HTC or otherwise. And don't be fooled by the number of Bars - There's a notorious blackspot where I travel with no reception - the X1 doesn't even fade!
Hate to think what it's doing to my brain waves!!

can you let us have some more details of your device?
Network branded?
wk build number (underneath battery inside)
Radio Version?
start>settings>device information
Rom?
I'm on
radio 1.06.25.29
Rom 1.02
curious to know if there's some newer ones coming out..
If the signal is low there are cracks and the quality drops dramatically. Especially when the battery is running low at the same time, it gets even worse.
Has anyone noticed that the sound changes for a couple of seconds when you press the keypad numbers during a voice call?
ROM – 1.02.931.3
Radio- 1.06.25.29
Xperia produced week 46
The earlier Xperias are the ones that developed the cracks by the stylus, had some peeling issues, I also think the earlier productions are the ones that overheat (no substantial proof ).. So it might just be a production issue.
Apart from the hardware (etc) the call quality should relate to whether you are talking over GSM or 3G. The call quality on mine is brilliant too.
Call quality is in pair with my SE M600i, clear and loud, only vibration is too strong especially during calls. Side speaker is a bit lower quality and not so loud, but that's the case almost for every other phone out there.

Call audio quality?

Hello everyone
I've moved from the N97 to the HD2 and one thing I have noticed is a drop in call audio quality. Specifically it's very crackly and it's at both ends of the call.
I'm on Vodafone in the uk on an unlocked HD2. Are there any tweeks that can be applied?
Cheers David
Well, I moved from Samsung Omnia to HD2 and I have to say quality is far better. I think it just depends on the phone...
Voice quality
I find the voice quality very high on the HD2 compared with HD, which was ok.

Terrible Facetime alternatives on Android

I tried Hangouts, Skype and Viber and was thoroughly disappointed with the quality. Opposed to Facetime, the sound was delayed preventing a normal conversation, and the picture was extremely pixelated. This in spite of having a good 4g signal and later a strong wi-fi signal.
Is the fault somehow on my side or is the Android videocalls seriously lacking behind Facetime? If the latter, why?!? What holy grail did Apple discover to make video calling so smooth and what prevents android from adopting this technology?
Facetime uses H265 on newer devices, this allows double the quality on the same connection. Wait till Duo by Google comes out in the Summer. The Verge had a chance to use it and they've said it is the quickest video chat app they've ever seen, better than Facetime
As far as I understand H265 is only supported on iphone 6 and up. Whenever I use facetime on my iphone 5, it is smooth as butter and never any audio delay.
So even before H265, apple must have used a technology which never was embraced by any android developers. I just wonder why.
Well - seems there is hope with Duo. Fingers crossed or I will have to keep my iphone just for facetime.
You can also try Tango, which has good (not best) quality when you have a good connection.
I get excellent video quality with Skype but it works a bit different than Facetime. The skype video call will start pixelated and will get better over time. After about 1 minute you should see it improves significantly. Remember that both sides of the convo needs to have good connectivity speed.

I find Viber to be pretty good, they all have good and bad moments, when Viber does't work well, I try Skype, when that doesn't work, Facebook Messenger, one of the 3 always seems to come through. Not ideal, but, for the price of free, can't really complain.
Try Tango. worked for me in the past. Or use snapchat's video calling feature. reception sux sometimes.
