Please help a newbie out - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom General

Hi I just purchased the Atom XDA Pure on ebay and im a first time xda user. Gotta say im not very impressed at this so called "smart phone". Is there anyway I can use the speaker phone? How can I set a specific ringtong (like a mp3/wma file) for when I receive a text message? Because all it does is beep once when i receive a text msg. thanks guys

to use the speaker phone, u need to hold the talk button during a call.
ringtone folder is local in "windows/ring"
message or alarm tone is in "windows" folder but it only could use WAV file

sms notification ?

How can I get my xda to make a sound when a sms message arrives ?
Have ticked the box in sounds and notifications for new sms message but still it remains quiet when a message arrives.
When you select the soundfile for a SMS-message and press the "play-button" to preview it, does it sound then?
If not, the file could be in a format that your PDA can't play.
It sounds absolutely fine using the test button, just doesn't work for an incoming message.

Problem solved, the previous page also reqires a box to be checked !

'using a wma file for my incoming SMS, but when a message arrives and i am reading it, the wma file just keeps playing. Can i set this in such a way that when i open the message, the music stops?'
crop the song.

I think crop means to make shorter.

They don't go in your rings folder they just go straight into the windows folder and then that way you can access them
sms notification
I have an xda2i, does anybody else's give off an sms sound but there is nothing in your inbox, no notification on screen but an sms has been sent to you?
I don´t know how you can choose wma ringtones for sms because when I put them in windows folder they simply aren´t displayed in the list. And I have another problem, when I receive an sms my Qtek 2020 doesn´t ring whatever is the ringtone I choose. It just makes one sound just like a single note. Anyone knows a fix or something else? My ROM version is 2.06.00WWE, Radio version is 1.14.00 and ExtROM is 2.06.100a.
Thanx

SMS nitification tones?

I have tried many things, from putting new .mid and .wma tones in windows file, and ring folder, they will appear as an option, but i cant them to work, they will all work for incoming calls. I NEED a longer louder ring tone that what is available in my S200 for SMS. I am deployed in Iraq, and this just doesnt do it. Can any one please give advice, i have limited time to search the net for answers. Thanks.........
SMS notification tones
Hello sheepdog,
SMS tone files must be wave files (for example, sound.wav) and you must copy them into the windows folder. Then you will be able to select them as SMS tones.

costumising the txt massege alert

Hey ya all..this is my first time i am posting a thread i just want to know how can i chan ge the text massege alert with any tune, not with those one's which are already in there,i have downloaded some tunes and i am having problem or i dont have any idea how can i make it new txt msg tone.
you can just put the sound file you want in the windows folder and you can then select it from the drop down menu in notifications for new text message, if you have mp3 you can use the mp3 trimmer program and then in the options save as text message or incoming call sound there are a few ways to do you can try searching for more choices

put your mp3 tones in \My Device\Application Data\Sounds
then you'll be able to use them for anything
