Has anyone else noticed that occasionally one of the directories on their storage card becomes inaccessible. It's happened twice now and it's permanent, a reset doesn't solve it. The only way to fix it is to delete the directory and start again. Could I have a storage card with a faulty block or is this a known issue? It only ever seems to happen after an ActiveSync.

Hi,
I have developed an eVB application for a client who needs to keep critical data on his PDA (model is QTEK 2020).
To prevent memory loss on hard reset, I keep everything on the internal "Memory Card" (the 14.5 Mo on the ROM, no SD card), in a subdirectory under the \storage\ directory. This is supposed to be nonvolatile memory.
The problem is that one user ran out of battery, and when the PDA was reset, the application and data had totally disappeared from the storage folder.
So here are my questions: is it possible that, under certain circumstances, the internal storage space can loose data? Has this ever been reported? Would an SD card be a more reliable solution?
I first suspected the user had done something wrong (such as unwanted deletion of folder), but this seems quite unlikely as she performed very basic operations.
Would an SD card be a more reliable solution
Click to collapse
well it would not get deleted by a hardreset
Still I wouldn't rely on an SD either...
Some people (including me) have experienced sudden SD Memory wipes!!!
However, I have not seen any more SD wipes since I upgraded to 1.72WWE.
(cross my fingers)
Very strange for the storage area to delete, I didnt think it was possible without running code to unlock and access it.
recently, my kjam is showing 2 storage card folders, i don't know why but one day i just had it. what would be the cause of this?
my normal mini sd card is shown as storage card 2, and the storage card folder is showing installed app on it (phone skins) plus the temporary internet files folder.
any idea?
I don't know what causes it, but it happened to me once. I took out the card and soft reset it and it was back to normal.
i just did that but no changes happened, i still have the 2 folders (storage card & storage card2)
i there any other solution?
I had same problem when install to autorun application with an internal reference to Storage Card. I suppose autorun appications run before Storage Card device availabity.

Same thing here!
I've got the same problem and I posted under a new thread as I believe this is related to the upgrade of my TMobile UK ROM - did not have the problem before.
this happened to me too , and the folder contained a "my documents" folder
Wierd !
It's not at all weird - just read my article. I explain there how this can happen and how the mess can the cleaned up.
I realised it is because you set your StorageCard as the default message - or temporary internet files store. The problems I usually have when I use ActiveSync and I turn off (or it turns off itself) the PDA.
My method is very simple and works:
Just delete the empty StorageCard folder and after a soft reset everything will be fine.
If you cannot delete, for example because TemporaryInternetFiles are there and index.dat is locked, you have to make a softreset first, and after it you can delete the fault SDCard folder and after another softreset everything will ok.
I am not sure what's wrong with it, but sometimes after I reboot my G1, the SD card simply won't mount automatically. Sometimes another reboot will solve the problem, but usually I need to eject the SD card manually and reinsert it to solve the problem.
Any one experience the same as mine? Any solution to that?
I've encountered the same issue from time to time and I fix it by doing the same thing either rebooting again or ejecting / inserting the card again.
Not sure the reason / if there is a fix for this atm.
I've this problem for a while - my Nike suddenly freezes, only solution is to take out the battery. When I power up, the file system on the memory card is corrupted, and if I connect it to a PC and run checkdisk I get a lot of lost file fragments and some files on the memory card is missing. I'm not sure is this is a software issue or something with the memory card. The first times some of the corrupted files were related to running programs, lately also files that shouldn't be open are damaged.
If it's a hardware problem I will return the memory card, if it's a software problem I'm lost but will probably test a different radio or ROM. Anyone with a qualified guess on this?
A strange thing happened - my memory card changed its name from Storage Card to Storage Card2 - now my progs dont work!
Anyone know how to change it back?
i had that happen to me once, i took the memory card, and deleted the folder called storage card from file explorer and then reinserted the memory card again. You might need to soft reset afterwards
Some program likely tried to write to the card while it was out.
Take your card out
Delete the remaining "Storage Card" folder
Reinsert the card.
Did you try and move the inbox to the memory card?

didnt do anything, think it tried to do something when it was connected to the computer as a storage device.
All sorted now, many thanks.
