I've noticed that my PDA2K has a "tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Ethernet adapter under Network Cards. My K-Jam does not...and because of that, I can't specify a network IP to use at work. Does anyone have a wireless adapter other than the SDIO adapter (which is only used with an SD card)???? If so, how did you get it?
Tom
I probably need some enlightenment here, but why do you need one, connect to my wireless lan without any additional wireless adapters. Also picked up wireless hotspots around town, though not tried to connect.
My work is static only...no DHCP. So, I need to set an IP address for my K-Jam in order to get on the network. Same with my laptop. The PDA2K allows for this while the K-Jam does not because of the lack of a Network Card adapter in the Connection Settings.

I don't get you. The SDIO is the internal Wlan adapter. The first setting you can make is use an IP-adress obtained by DHCP or a static one....

N!co is correct. If you select that SDIO adapter (which is the driver for the internal SDIO wireless hardware) you get the option to enter a static IP etc.
I thought the SDIO was for the SD Wifi Card Adapters that you stick in the SD slot. But, heck, I'll give it a shot. Be back later.
Tom
I FEEL STUPID.
That's what I get for listening to a guy that doesn't have one of these...My friend told me the SDIO adapter was for SD wifi cards. WRONG.
Thanks guys!!! That took care of it! I'm now back on the network!! I've only been fighting this issue for 4 days now.
Now, let me ask this, my home wifi is dhcp. Is there a way to switch IP addresses so I can go to both easily? Work static, home dynamic, with the touch of a button???
Thanks,
Tom
ok heres the deal... i have a MDA flashed with the software from att for the 8125 everything works great except when i turn wifi on, i can connect to the network but cant ever get a page to work. does anyone have any suggestions????? please help
Is this happening on any network or your home network?
Check this... go to Settings - Connections - Network Cards. Make sure the WLAN Adapter is set to connect to the internet. Then tap the WLAN Adapter and make sure IP Address is set to Server Assigned then in Name Servers you don't have anything. If any of these is different, change it to the above.
Yeah. I have the same problem. I have wifi pci asus, the signal is good. I have Lan tru router and now bridged connection. I set the ip, mask and gateway which are in the status of the brudge. And the internet explorer and opera wont load pages.?!??! dns isnt set.
The network adapter is sdio wlan.., and the connection is my work network in connection > connections > advanced >select networks.
i use wm6, nbd 8.0
What could be the problem???
it is home network and all other wifi locations
i know there is a problem with secured networks, especially with wpa encryption. try to remove the encryption and see how it goes....
I have removed all encription. I tried preety much everithing and it doesnt work. All other free wifi networks work just fine, i can surf on internet.
what router do you have? i know that i could not connect to a 3com router with the wizard with any rom i tried.
try using a defined ip address and dns, meaning no dhcp. use a real dns addresses and not the default gateway...
hi guys,
i have just bought a new hd, but when i turn on wifi, it finds my router working on G speed, it connects, but the ip adres stays 192.168.1.131, and that ip adres is NOT from my router, it is set to use a ip adres given from the router but it's not working.
if i set the ip adres to a fixed one that is the same as one of the ip adresses from my router , i can use internet....turning the setting back to dhcp, i get the 192.168.1.131....
anyone??
Don't understand you problem, dhcp server normally try to give the same ip to the client, so its not strange that you get 192.168.1.131 every time?
could you please explain what you mean...
i use: use server-assigned ip adress.....but still the ip adres is not from my network....

Then your dhcp server is messed up and distributes wrong ip addresses. Normally you can re-configure it using the web interface (or command line).
well all my other client pc's ( wifi and ethernet connected) work fine with good ip adresses...
could it still be a router problem??
Are you sure you are using the WiFi ? Isn't your HD still using the GPRS (or Edge or 3G) for data, even when Wifi is ON ?
yes i am sure....if i enter an ip adres that usualy is from my router, i can work on internet...so it connects fine to wifi, but is not getting the right i adress....
hmm check your Routers DCHP servcer settings and see if its leasing out the ip to HD
i checked the dhcp log from the router and i see that the hd gets 192.168.1.105.
but in my hd it says connected to network with ip adres : 192.168.1.131.
if i set the 105 ip as fixed ip in the hd, i can use internet......
realy strange....
is there any possibility that your HD connects to another router nearby...?

That would be the most probable explanation to this problem .
You have probably connected to another router and set that as your preferred connection. Or maybe set it to connect to it even if the network is offline.

same issue with other routers....
Since I bought the HD2 before 2 month and after 2 Rom upgrade I still have the same Wifi problem. I can connect to my home network and the Router can see the HD2 but I can not connect to the Internet through the Wifi. All other computers and PS3 connect just fine. Ip adress seems also ok.
Please help ?
I did have the same problem a while back, and it occured after I used the wifi router. Have you ever used that, even just to try it?
No I never tried the Wifi Router even once and changed rom twice.

Probably not the same issue then. For some reason I had it trying to give me a static IP address that my router wouldn't allow (I've got MAC forwarding on my router to make sure that nothing other than the 4 things I have can connect to it).
When you connect to the wifi, can you open the router admin on your HD2?
Thanks for your help. No I cannot access the router from the HD2, could it be a proxy issue. I am not using a proxy for the internet

No worries mate - I hope I can help!
It's not a proxy issue, if you're not using a proxy server. Could you try this and let me know how you get on?
Start your wifi connection
Go to all settings, connection, wifi, wireless networks, network adapters tab
Select the Broadcom DHD adapter
It should be set to use a server assigned IP address, not a static one. It probably is, but it's worth checking.
When I open Wifi settings I can only open advanced no wireless networks or network adapter tab. How do I get there ?

After you've started wifi, go to the settings tab, menu and all settings. Then carry on the instructions in the last post.
Found the all settings, the DHD adapter is set to server assigned. Any other ideas ?
...
Well i think we have the same problem.. If you try to connect your wireless, do you get the failure after pressing get IP: Cannot obtain serverassigned IP....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627654 my thread was this..
I found out that if i you go under WIFI>ADVANCED>press on the NETWORKCARD under the field "SSID"> then go to the networkcard>Broadcom 802.11 DHD network adapter>remove the pin in use serverassigned, and write a static ip: example: IP: 192.168.1.23
UNDERMASK: 255.255.255.0
STANDARDgateway: 192.168.1.1
That helped for me, though i cannot use that fix because my college wont accept the static IP. so it works for like 2 mins and then it disconnect. hehe.
Heh - that would be pretty much my next suggestion.
Try a static IP address and see if that works. It's not a long-term solution, but it would determine whether it's your phone or the router that's having the problem.
Last time I set a static IP address, I liked it and left it like that, but I found (after a couple of days with no internet access) that it tries to assign the same IP address when you use your data connection for internet access. Your service provider is very unlikely to allow you to use the same IP address, so you probably can't connect.
Like I said, it's a test to see if you can connect - not a solution.
Do you know what IP addresses your router will allow you to use? Do you have a specified range of addresses, for example?
I have this exact same problem. I can connect to wifi networks at home, office, etc... But no network access. It connects to the AP's, gives me an IP Address, but I can't ping anything!
This thing gets more and more frustrating daily.

It also happened to me. Turns out it was the router I was using. I bought a new one earlier today and problem solved!
Hi!
I got a d-link dgl-4300 router, and had problem getting a IP adr. from it. When I gave my HD2 a static IP it worked, but very slow. After I changed from DHD network adapter to NE 2000 compatible ethernet driver it get IP from router and I can browse internet through wifi fast. Maybe it can help u 2.
regards Xes.
HI , i'm setting up new 2 router...
but still dont know how to connect from A wireless router to B wireless router in order to expand the range of internet,.
1st thing what do i need?
thanks
U can use WDS or just set your second router as an bridge.
Normaly you have an option to set wich behavior your router must have.
AP / Gateway / Bridge etc...
If you can set it to wireless bridge you can select your first wireless network and let your second router connect with it.

how can i connect from WIreless router to wireless router without wire?
By wifi.... your router picks up the "original" wifi signal and broadcasts it again...
