isn't anyone goung to complain about how un-ergonomic the built-in messaging client is? sure you can text with one hand with intellipad, and search for contacts with one hand using .mobile contacts, but what about forwarding? reading while replying?
i like intellipad, but i think it's still too small for rapid thumb-texting. also, don't you wish you can read the message you are replying to? or type nicknames in the to: field and then when you press send it looks up nicknames and replaces them with phone numbers?
don't you miss being able to send SMS on a scheduled date and time?
i don't think there is an app out there that does this. phoneplus is close, .mobile contacts solves some of the problems. but for the rest, let's develop one! does crossfire ring a bell?
I'm searching now, but phoneext has been the only thing I found, and I never really liked it since it took over a lot of the functions of the phone.

Works for SMS messages also. The author mentions it can't handle large contact databases. He doesn't give a specific number but it works fine with my contact list 600+ contacts. Also allows you to assign tones by contact category (my main use since this is far easier than individual tones). BTW you should realize that in your contacts edit view you can assign a ringtone to the contact along with their photo.

haha, dang, I didn't realize that was there in the per contact edit.
Thanks!
I used Photo Contacts PRO (Pocket PC Edition) by PocketX Software Inc.
Editing the contacts info seems to be bugged as far as updating phone numbers and other info. At least on my phone. However everything else on it works great. You can select a different ring tone for each contact. Also allows you to set default ringtone for users not in your contact list. Also has a better appointment interface and several other goodies. I highly recommend.
You can do this without the need for third-party apps... right from within your Contacts applet. Just edit the contact and assign a ring tone to him/her from the available drop down.
I am looking for an app that lets me do stuff when certain incoming numbers (either a simple editable list or a selection of contacts) call..... essentially I want the phone to answer and then hang up immediately so the numbers don't get my voicemail, they just get rejected.
At the moment I have the contacts set with a silent ringtone so I don't get disturbed, but sometimes I get voicemails from them and I want to prevent these.
I have had a look at Mortscript and can find how to handle incoming calls, just not how to handle incoming calls from specific contacts in specific ways.
Any help appreciated
go to www.youmail.com
i like this free service and it handles caller id calls more efficiantly than any software you can purchase.
Thanks for the link, unfortunately it's US only and I'm in the UK.
CallFirewall does exactly that what you need.
Try this:
http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html
It does everything you asked, and a whole lot more.
+1 for magicall... it rocks
Thanks for the links guys, downloading them both now
Call Firewall didn't quite do the trick as I could only get it to go to voicemail, but Magicall does 100% what I want, plus more, so I promptly coughed up the cash for it
Somewhere else on the forum there's a program what lets you make your own interface in html with js/flash. you can use that and make javascript countdown for x seconds and than let it pick up and hang up... or whatever you want not the best solution but it still is a solution
Hey everyone.
I've been using WM since the XDA2 then moved to a dopod 838 pro and am now using the Touch Diamond. The one thing I've never been able to do and really could use is the ability to call a number entry in the notes of a calendar entry.
I've done a search on the forums but I can't locate anything regarding it.
I tend to use my calendar for all of my appointments but if I have to call someone with the phone number stored in the notes of the calendar entry, I have to physically write the number down and then flick to the dialer to make the call. And I've had to do that for years. Now that I've found you guys I have to ask...is there a way around this?
Thanks in advance for any help you can throw my way and a Big thanks to all the devs here making my Diamond the best PPC I've owned.
EDIT: I should explain what I'm asking for a little better. You know how a number comes up highlighted in a text message or notes and all you have to do is tap on the highlighted number and it launches the dialer? That's what I really need in the notes of a calendar appointment.
i also need that.
and i could swar that this worked already in earlier versions
Barring any other solutions, you could copy and paste the number into the dialer, instead of having to write it down. I doubt there are any tweaks to make it a clickable link.
Thanks...the copy and paste option is better than nothing. I'd actually never thought to use it after all these years.
Still, a clickable link in the notes would be ideal. I'm sure if I ask M$ nicely, they'll be more than happy to add it to the next version of WM.
Hello everyone
I recently bought the HTC Magic and I am very satisfied with the sync it does with the Google apps, which is really seamless.
What I would really like though is being able to call numbers directly from calendar entries. I have names of clients, followed by their numbers as calendar entries.. Does anyone know if there is any way I could do that? Is there an app maybe out there that could do that?
Can anyone point me to a developer who could maybe program that?
So far the only solution I have found is to ask Google to sent me an SMS reminder with my appointment. The SMS is clickable and the telephone numbers inside the SMS are callable as well. But I don't want to be doing that, since I am making a lot of calls everyday.
Thank you all for your time and help
