Hello all,
I just got my Cingular 8525 yesterday. It seems to me there is no dedicated voice command/dial button on the phone. Instead there is a "push to talk" button, which i can not program its use in WM5. After i install MS Voice Command 1.6, it assigned my "mobile outlook" button to activate voice command. This seeems to be a regression since my Cingular 8125 (Wizard) has a dedicated voice command button in addition to the "mobile outlook" button.
Is there any way to program the PPT button to do something else? I don't use the PTT service.
Thanks!

Yes, there centainly is! Did you search the forum? Look for PTTFIX or search for posts by Sleuth. There is a thread that discusses how to fix your issue and the download can also be found under Sleuth's signature line.

Hi
I've installed Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 UK on my JasJar, but when I ask 'show Jim Smith' it does not show the contact screen properly. I just get a blank white screen.
Is there a fix for this or have I just done something stupid?
Thanks
Steve
MS Voice Command issues
I have the same issue. Any resolutions out there. Also would like to get MS Voice Command to work by pressing call button on Motorla HS810.
Help is greatly appreciated.
Just got my JJ yesterday, me likey.
well as you guys discovered mc voice command doesnt work on wm5 and with good reason... the voice application on jasjar (the default one) works perfectly and can be activated by BT headset (mine atleast motorlla hs820)
Whenever I use MS Voice Command, it'll recognize my dial command and take me to the contact, but then it craps out. I'm using the phrase 'call John Smith'. This is only for contact with a single location phone number.
However, whenever I try to dial a contact with multiple locations (Home, Mobile, etc.) it works after prompting for the location.
Has anyone else seen this?
I just did a hard reset and only installed MS Voice Commander. This still happens. So it's not a conflicting program.
WTF? Am I the only one here?
Alright...
First, I have 8125, not MDA.
Now that that is outta the way.
In your voice command settings (Start > Setting > Personal TAB > Voice Command)
Under the "Phone" settings, what is checked?
If "confirm when calling by name" is checked then you need to say YES when it says "call John Smith?" If you don't hear it saying that then maybe its on silent. I also had an issue with the stock 8125 ROM (because it was soooo slow) That it asked me "Call John Smith?" but took a second or two to open the contact info on screen, and it wouldn't accept the answer I gave it till the contact was open. So I had to wait a second or two after it asked before I could answer it.
Just somethings you can check out. GL getting it solved, and if it NEW then maybe exchange it, just in case you have a faulty mic (doubt it) or something.

I always have a hard time getting VC to work. Just uninstall and reinstall until it works... That's about it. Sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 times.
is this good program?
I saw a blurb on voice command....is this one of those must have programs for my 8125? Will it work through the bluetooth headset? What doesn't it do that will keep me from wanting to install it?

MUST HAVE! Yes, it will work through headset. Just need to do a little tweak (at least on the TMo MDA) so that the headset button activates VoiceCommand.
The only downside is that you will look like an idiot walking around talking to yourself. "Call Bob Brown. Mobile phone. Yes, go ahead and dial the number, please." "What time is it?" etc.
Is there a trial version out?
Hi all!
I'm trying to use the std voice command app of my Jamin in order to have a speed way to lounch for example TomTOm or make a call...
My question is: is there a simple way to lounch the voice command app from hw button for example? If I have to goto start menu, programs, voice command and then use it, I think it's just like lounch the app without the voice...
I think voice command automatically assigns itself to a hardware key on installation.
If it hasn't, you can assign it to a hardware key, and you should!
Go to settings > Personal > Buttons and assign Voice Command to any hardware key.

I have updated the cab file using the PTT fix. But when I try to map the PTT button (Push and Hold) to Voice R ecorder for taking voice notes, I can not do that as the drop down list does not have the option to chose Voice Recorder/Recorder. Anyone know how to resolve this issue? Thanks a bunch..
My wife recently got a Cingular 8525 and we setup the PTT button to activate voice dialing. The problem is that it is restricted to voice-tag based dialing. On my Motorola KRZR I can hit the voice dial button and say any number I want and it will dial it. I do not have to record voice tags for my contacts. Is there an upgrade for the 8525 to allow this kind of voice dialing?
Yes
Microsoft Voice Command 1.6

Scroll down and follow the instructions for using ms vc 1.5 over the built in cyberon crap. Follow everything except you will be using ms vc1.6 since its the newest.
That did the trick. Voice -dial-by-number is working like a charm now, both with and without a bluetooth earpiece. A very slick piece of software!
Thanks for the pointer.
np glad you got it working.
